    Great breakdown of the three in D player. I will show this to my son since he is also a wing player. Thank you. Keep up the good work.

    Thank you very much! I play the SF position and I’d say I do a pretty decent job at defending the other team’s most athletic player. Versatility and three point shooting is definitely something I want to keep improving. Once again, this video is greatly appreciated!

    Always played the 3 on the wing.. sad part is I'm 6' even.. smh.. you get weird looks when's your short for a forward and everyone's expecting you to play like a guard 😂😂😂😂

    • @BasketballU
      @BasketballU  ปีที่แล้ว

      There’s nothing wrong with being a short forward. You probably found yourself being a tougher player and challenged bigger players because you didn’t feel small! The game being positionless can help with certain scenarios that may work in your favor especially when teams try to play smaller to move the game quicker.

    I really want to play SF, but i'm only 6'3 (6'4 wingspan) being placed as a guard all the time, but my shot really isn't anything special, same goes for my ball handling. However i'm great at driving to the basket, and my basketball iq is great aswell, i'm 200lbs kinda lean, bench 285, squat 370, and i definetly feel that my biggest strength is my strength, however being undersized i don't really know whether or not to pursue that path, even though my playstyle fits. Do you have any advice you could give me to point me in the right direction?

    • @BasketballU
      @BasketballU  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Being 200 pounds and 6’3 you’re going to have to play the guard position but remember being a guard develops your game in multiple ways. Basketball is position-less right now so if you have the ability to get to the rim and use your size to guard bigger players it will give you an opportunity to play more. Shooting helps but defense, deflections and rebounding will be more valuable than you being able to shoot the ball. So keep that in mind. Add that to your game and being in the best shape. You’re also able to even the playing field when you’re in better shape than your opponent! Hope this helps! Good luck to you and feel free to keep asking questions!

      @BasketballU if he's I highschool that's really tall lebron used to be a guard but gained 6 inches and a half so now he's 6,9 in a half without shoes

      I’m 6’4 without shoes with a 6’11 wingspan and I play center but I’d rather be playing guard and if you’re playing 2 guard it’s basically the same thing

    want to play the sg/SF position in basketball but the coach puts me in a pf or a center position I’m 5’10 and I weigh about 184 pounds. Can I play the positions I want if I lose weight, get rid of fat, and get really skinny? I’m a freshman should I lose weight and fat to play sg/sf my sophomore year? any advice?
    Plus I'm not fat.

    • @nocapster8739
      @nocapster8739 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bro same. I'm a 5'6 freshman girl pf and I've recently realized that I won't be able to play post in college basketball. I'm not fat but I'm a little big ig. I feel like I just need to lose some weight. Get faster. And learn to shoot. Which is why I'm joining track this year. Hopefully by next year my coach will let me play small forward which is the closest to power forward.

      @BasketballU  ปีที่แล้ว

      Fat is actually a positive when trying to build muscle! So the importance of you playing a shooting guard or small forward position is based on what type of shape you get into! Can you get up and down the court at a speed others can’t when everyone on the floor starts to get tired! That will help you progress and also lose the weight little by little as you continue to strive to be in a different position! Keep workin! Let me know how your progress goes!! Besides losing weight be sure to continue to work on your game and understand the game! Wishing you the best in your journey!!

    I came to this video because my coach forced me to play small foward. I am bad at passing because I'm a point guard that's a ball hog. My teammates won't let me cook. I know how to score against bigger defenders, I know how to get past them with ease. Meanwhile all their shots get blocked by a 4 footer.

    • @BasketballU
      @BasketballU  ปีที่แล้ว

      They have to let you cook!!! Establish that dominance at the small forward spot by being elite and doing other things like defending, rebounding, and moving without the ball to create easy scoring opportunities for yourself. Something to also think about how easy is it to cook? How many attempts do you need to score a lot of points? In an average American basketball game at a non collegiate level or pro level is a 32 min game. 8 mins a quarter.
      2 fg mades 2 free throws made and a steal and easy layup or a possible pass from moving without the ball can get you 6 pts a quarter which will be 24pts a game if you get the mins. Good luck.. that’s the secret sauce!! Keep cookin!
