I agree... I believe "drop in" is only needed if you want to initiate a conversation without approval from the other person. Without "drop in" I believe the other person must just touch the green button... pls confirm.
Well apart from thanks for the effort you put in to make this highly informative video I have to say you deserve a Masters Degree award for being able to suss that process out. No such instruction is given out in the Alexa app. Also if you don't mind me saying this - having to go through a 21 stage settings routine and also get permission from the other party is nothing short of a ridiculous rigmarole. I know my contact that I was hoping to pair up with and drop in mutually will agree with me - It just ain't worth the hassle. The whole system needs re designing from the star so it is possible to do these things with just a half dozen moves. Again thank you for this.

How do I get the contact # for another Alexa Show outside my ecosystem? I'm not talking about their cell phone or landline number but the contact # for their Echo Show. Does each device have a unique address?
That is not "Video calling" . Calling would be calling, and answering on the other side. Drop-in is something that just literally "drops in". This is something you most likely do not want with your neighbour/friends.... that they just say "hello" while you are just out of the shower looking for clothes (or insert other inappropriate moment of your choice) .....

You can use separate accounts. To set up Alexa Calling, you will need to have a phone number for each account capable of receiving a text with a setup code
There is one other way, if you don't mind giving them access to your account by adding their Echo Shows to it. You ARE able to call or drop in on devices YOUR account by calling them by name. For example "Alexa, drop in on Mom's Echo Show" or "Alexa, Drop in on Grandma's Echo Show". You can set these up using your Wi-Fi, but be sure to "save" their Wi-Fi info before shipping.
to start with, you can put the echo show devices in one account and use them like that even if the other people have their own accounts. Maybe Amazon will sort out this calling between accounts eventually

Meaning if you’re on the receiving end does the feature just boot up without warning or do u get a chance to accept the audio/video call?

There is a security camera in her living room, so I can see her trying to answer on her iPhone, and she gets frustrated trying to answer. Can the Echo Show be set up so that when I hit drop in she will see and hear me on the device without her having to do anything?
As far as I know, no. That's a privacy feature and I can't see Amazon letting people go around it. HELP!! How do we contact you to ask questions? Do you have a video on how to get iPhones to text androids or other phones without getting the constant message, did not deliver! I can’t send texts or photos etc to non-iPhone users. I have to keep sending it. And it’s annoying. Especially in an urgent situation. How do we fix this? I have reset my phone. And that is a whole other topic!!!! The iPhone 12 mini doesn’t have a real reset method, except by going into the settings, I believe. There is only a shut down. I hate this phone. And the camera is terrible. My iPhone 7 was better & it had twice as much memory! And the game playing is terrible too!! HELP!!!!

Good question. This feature is actually very difficult to navigate through, so I’m not entirely sure. I hope in future updates it can be simplified.

You don't have to use drop in. You can say "Alexa, call Frank" and it will give Frank the ability to accept or deny
