Nice trip, interesting view of the L.A. east interchange since since the bottom. It permits to admire the elevated ramps! And thank you for your videos dedicated to L.A, it was a great way to learn more about this complex network of highways! Some freeways are really epic...
Thanks, I filmed that section of the East LA interchange at night (#13-44) and made it a point to get that section in daylight, it's pretty impressive. Glad you enjoyed the LA series.
I just discovered this one, I lived in LA when you visited! The freeways are fascinating and I recognize a lot of the portions of the 134 that I saw. Especially the section running through the mountains! I remember going on 134 west I looked out the window and saw all the houses and hills and stuff at that portion. Thanks for putting these up, living there was fun and I’m glad I get a little window to it through your videos.
Nice ride- I too have always called LA a Freeway Mecca- and I dream of going back there to cruise the highways. I have always loved CA freeways- love seeing your take on them and your choices for soundtrack- Awesome trip and awesome videos as always. LA freeways AND California's freeways have always been my favorites!
Awesome videos! I am heading to the L.A. area from the midwest next week, and was nervous about the traffic. However, after watching all of your L.A. videos, I am more at ease with the traffic patterns I will be facing. Thank You
Thank you Michael! The traffic can indeed be brutal, I suggest getting INRIX or SIGALERT for your smartphone but when the roads are flowing there is no better freeway driving experience anywhere.
I admire how you maneuver through traffic with ease, this was another very exciting ride and I love your music selection, an up beat disco jam! (GVJim)!!!!!!!
I grew up in Northern CA and drove down to Los Angeles 3-4 times. I remember driving thru those Art Deco tunnels in 1975. Nice memories of driving thru LA 😉👍
nice drive, I like this one ! Cant wait to see the Cajon Pass drive. Wish I had the money to get in the car and drive everywhere like you do, and most of all, enjoy every minute of it.
Neat video especially for taking the long way out. Can't wait for Cajon Pass (Seen it many times, it never disappoints). PS- Hopefully you will get this comment!
I love this video! It's neat that some of these freeways were the first ever built--there's a lot of history behind them. I was surprised seeing the overhead button-copy exit tabs--I never knew Caltrans did that.
Arroyo Seco is so cool with Art Deco tunnels. I love LA so much, the great weather, freeways, sprawl (=space), semi arid landscape, beaches. I honestly do not understand why so many LA haters out there!
I can come up with several... 1) semi-arid weather = high wildfire risk during half the year 2) smog ..and a lot of it visible in this video 3) city is far too big for the amount of available water in the area and its current sources of water are at risk... I can keep going
Great video, looks like you had great traffic flow, a rarity for L.A. I am from Bakersfield which is about 2 hours north of L.A. You should do a video of the 99 and CA-58 sometime if you haven't done so already.
Thanks, no we had In-N-Out for lunch that day out near out by I-15 about a half-hour after this video ended and we got it in Las Vegas the following day, which was the "Last Bite" so to speak.
Freewayjim NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DON'T LEAVE LOS ANGELES! I MISS IT! Love the music & the video. Have a blessed day FreewayJim!
Maybe someone asked before, maybe not. Anyway, how do you manage to stabilize so well the footage? Even on the bumpiest sectors the image is steady and smooth as butter. Thanks.
SoCal brought out the best in you. Even I felt a twinge leaving it even though in real time you left the area 6 months ago. Maybe in another decade or two you will go back and I will watch it in my nursing home.
Thank you very much Edward, yes I really enjoyed my time in SoCal and I'm glad it came through in the videos. Hopefully I'll be back there sooner than decade or two, there's so much more I want to see and film there.
Happy birthday to me - you filmed this on my 51st birthday! Also, did you mean to use Lakers colors as the text backdrop? I see the correction on the rank of Glendale. Santa Clarita has been gaining, but as of 2010 it was #4, leaving Glendale at #3. But three years past, I could see Santa Clarita going past Glendale. Long Beach is #2, obviously. I'm unsure about #1. :) As an ardent Valley secessionist, the San Fernando Valley would definitely be #2.
Love the concept ... just wish you wouldn't speed up the video .. takes away from that "going down the open road" feeling! You could "edit" them to fit more of a "music video" format ... that would be terrific"!
Thank you, actually, it's the opposite, doing these in real-time is painfully slow and boring, adapting the speed of the video footage to the tempo of the music and syncing it with the tempo changes is a far more engaging experience.
I don't need to watch anything, I know what I'm doing, trust me you are in the vast minority...if you don't like it sped up that's cool, i'm not slowing it down to real-time.
LOL! Okay, buddy. You don't have to get "triggered"! It was just a suggestion. I've driven a lot of these freeways in my 67 years and have fond memories of cruising down the highway with the radio on. Each one of these highways have a unique "ambience" all of their own connected to their locations. It's like the difference between the Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles versus the Mark Hopkins in San Francisco (of course, you would have had to have been to those two places to understand that). That's why the "ambience" of the location gets lost at fast speeds ... it all looks the same ... just music, cars and overpasses buzzing by and blurring together. But, hey, don't let me intrude on your "engaging experience"! Have a great life! :)
LOL, not triggered at all, really unnecessary comment on your part but that's cool. If you think real-time speed driving videos with music is so compelling go film something and post it here, I'll watch. We are probably looking for two different things and that's fine, my subs and view counts would say I'm doing something right.
Thank you! On the music, some of those acts are not safe to use on TH-cam (The Doors), I have used some (America) in other videos and I did use John Stewart in a video and it was muted after a couple years, plus when making 14 videos from the same place (and 60 overall for that trip) I don't want them all to sound alike so I look for what I feel is the right fit (plus there is timing and tempo to consider), are there better choices out there for this video? yeah, but at the time that's what I came up with so as you can see picking music is kind of a minefield and not as easy as you think.
Johnny, I used "City of the Angeles" by Wang Chung from that soundtrack for video # 13-40 last month, please feel free to check it out. And as far as this song being bad? you're the ONLY person I've seen here and and other places I've posted it that thinks so, I strive to have every video sound and feel different, as a result, different flavors of music get used.

Thank you for watching and for sharing that, enjoyed my short time there and subsequent visits.
Thanks Jim,as always..love going on road trips with you.
Thanks for watching Fred!

Thanks, it was everything I hoped it would be.
Great downtown views followed by those tunnels!
I think I recognised some of these tunnel portals. They were said to have been featured in the Steven Spielberg classic Duel about 40 years ago.
Awesome videos! I am heading to the L.A. area from the midwest next week, and was nervous about the traffic. However, after watching all of your L.A. videos, I am more at ease with the traffic patterns I will be facing.

Sad to see your L.A. series end, I really enjoyed them!
Thank you, I'm kind of sad to see them end too.
I grew up in Northern CA and drove down to Los Angeles 3-4 times. I remember driving thru those Art Deco tunnels in 1975. Nice memories of driving thru LA 😉👍
Great ride with great music. I was at vacation in the southwest of the USA in August 2005. Great memories!
Great cap off to your LA series, enjoyed the ride along.
Thanks, it's quite a city!
Looks pretty, 10/10 !!!
Thank you!
Never been to LA, let alone driven the Arroyo Seco, but I can't see the line of tunnels at 3:32 without thinking of the opening scene from Duel.
nice drive, I like this one ! Cant wait to see the Cajon Pass drive. Wish I had the money to get in the car and drive everywhere like you do, and most of all, enjoy every minute of it.

Nice vid, Jim. Awesome freeways in LA.

EpikFilmz11 Thank you!
Love the music, fitting for the city of Angels.
Very smooth driving through all the interchanges. The DMV could use your video as a training guide...
Thank you!
Awesome Finally You Da Man Jim.
Thank you!

I'm with you on that. L.A. is AMAZING!!
Oh they're just jealous.
Well Jim. excellent series on my Hometown. After Cajon Pass. I hope you got the Virgin River Gorge!
Thanks Brad, After Cajon pass we have two from Las Vegas and then, yes I did Virgin River Gorge in both directions.
Great video, looks like you had great traffic flow, a rarity for L.A. I am from Bakersfield which is about 2 hours north of L.A. You should do a video of the 99 and CA-58 sometime if you haven't done so already.
Thanks, I've never had a reason to go up 99 before so no, I have not filmed that.
Must have been tough to finally roll away after all that sightseeing and driving around a wonderful (BIG) town!! Lol
It was, wish I could go back...like now! really enjoyed LA.
Great leaving L.A. music and video! Was this the end of your In-N-Out tour as well?
Thanks, no we had In-N-Out for lunch that day out near out by I-15 about a half-hour after this video ended and we got it in Las Vegas the following day, which was the "Last Bite" so to speak.
Freewayjim NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DON'T LEAVE LOS ANGELES! I MISS IT! Love the music & the video. Have a blessed day FreewayJim!
Justin Hundley I miss it too Justin! Thank you.
Freewayjim It was on my birthday too!!! (sob) :(
Freewayjim kjjii
Looking forward to more videos!
Thanks! That was fun.
Thank you for watching!
Maybe someone asked before, maybe not. Anyway, how do you manage to stabilize so well the footage? Even on the bumpiest sectors the image is steady and smooth as butter. Thanks.
Thanks, I have the camera on a full size tripod in the front seat, also the camera I am using for this video has exceptional stabilization.
SoCal brought out the best in you. Even I felt a twinge leaving it even though in real time you left the area 6 months ago. Maybe in another decade or two you will go back and I will watch it in my nursing home.

Hope you come back to Los Angeles real soon freeway Jim.
Yeah me too, love exploring the area.
veri nice music and trip:)
Thanks!
Freewayjim, Do you have Glendale in Los Angeles videos?
I may have a couple with the CA-2/CA-134 interchange but nothing specific of Glendale.
Can you do is make CA-110 to I-5 to CA-134 in the alternate Chanel (or someone else)
No
What happened to the referenced video # 13-31? I can't seem to find it on searches or playlists.
The soundtrack got muted on that video so I remixed it, Video 17-02 is the new 13-31.
Happy birthday to me - you filmed this on my 51st birthday!

Long Beach is #2, obviously. I'm unsure about #1. :)
As an ardent Valley secessionist, the San Fernando Valley would definitely be #2.
Cool! and yes the Lakers colors were intentional. Someone on here corrected me about Glendale, it was an easy enough fix.
21yrs ago after the 10 the La Cienaga Bridge was replaced by other bridge
At 2:48 is what I like to call "Skyscraper valley".
***** Thanks Jacob, got the comment, just can't directly reply to it.
I watched all your LA Videos. Surprised you didn't use "I Love L.A." by Randy Newman. Also, it's time to put up new signage. The signs look aged.
Thanks, that song would have been good for a slower montage of the area had I made one.
do u have one driving through Seattle Washington??
I have seven coming later this month and into October and November.
Visit LA to explore the culture, food, clubs and night-outs
Actually Santa Clarita is the 3rd largest city in LA County with over 200,000 people
Yep, Wiki confirms that, I forgot where I got that Glendale stat from, could have been an older source, my error.

Watch "Easy Rider"! :)
I don't need to watch anything, I know what I'm doing, trust me you are in the vast minority...if you don't like it sped up that's cool, i'm not slowing it down to real-time.

In the longest fwy I did not see I-5 for the 2nd longest fwy

Freeway Flyer 2: Goodbye to Los Angeles.
Leaving L.A. so soon!!!
4:45 880 miles
wish this video would quite stalling on me!
Very bad choice of music. You should have instead used Wang Chung's soundtrack album for the film To Live and Die in LA.
Noted.
