Would rather no truck and trailer but 3 figures (pilot, EMT, patient) and a side build for the patient, like an ATV or motorcycle and a small landscape build.
I have to disagree with the judgement of value for this set. Just feels like too many cut corners on the design, lack of helicopter doors, the minimalistic trailer design, the tiny trailer wheels, and the exposed studs everywhere just don't seem to justify the 30 dollar price tag in my eyes. Know lego city can do better.
The new medical vehicle colors look very European (specifically UK) to me. I think I prefer the classic red and white but I can see why Lego would want to change things up to keep the City line fresh.

Dutch Emergency medical staff also had uniforms in this colour scheme (Without the white). Though the vehicles are Yellow with blue and red diagonal stipes.
I always love Jang’s realistic yet still reasonable reviews. He could’ve completely went on LEGO’s side and given 0 constructive criticism, praised it endlessly, etc. or could’ve went full LEGO hater and called it a terrible worthless set. But instead he praises what he likes, gives constructive criticism on issues he discovers, and really makes it a personal experience by comparing how the set was set up to what he would’ve wanted from the 5+ set as a 5 year old. There’s plenty of other review channels on TH-cam, but Jang has been my favorite for over 10 years!

I'm still getting used to pale yellow. Having left the lego community in like 2012 and coming back in march 2021 I'm baffled by the sheer number of colors

Still don't know how to feel about the new yellow colour. Looks really good when its appropriate, but I hope they don't go wild with it like teal (love teal tho). Still super amazing that such a bright colour of plastic can exist. It's gonna be a hit with radioactive, nuclear themed builds.
It works fine as a highlight color but when used as a primary color it's a considerable eyesore in my opinion, I doubt Lego will use this color as much as teal though, doesn't seem like it's nearly as versatile overall.
I'm not a fan personally but seems like many like the new yellow.

My friend bought the ice cream truck robbery set, and the police car has some pieces of it, tested them in the blacklight and they are fluorescent, so yeah, very awesome for nuclear stuff. Kinda sad the color wasn't around for the now cancelled Hidden Side.
I totally agree. I feel like LEGO is pushing this color onto the consumer give how frequent it is in ever single new city set.
This new yellow color kind of illustrates the direction I see lego going. Cheap and transparent. I have definitely noticed a difference in the quality of brick and certainly noticed a difference in the TLG Margins. Life long fan here, I hope they right the ship before too long.
I like the color of the helicopter. For me it could be used as a UK medical chopper or a HAZMAT team chopper. Also like how the transport truck ISN’T medical related (since Lego is notorious for slapping the word POLICE on every vehicle imaginable) which allows for that truck to transport different types of helicopters.
This set is disappointing in my opnion. Having acquired the legendary set 7903 Rescue Helicopter way back, I still naturally compare any rescue helicopter sets to that one in terms of overall design, maybe unfairly so, but this is lackluster. I don't think the truck + chopper gimmick works out here as it detracted details from both just to put them into one set and it shows.
I usually like more realistic sets but it doesn't look too bad to be completely honest.
How can that trailer go in curves with four rigid wheels? It's only made for straight roads that way

I've never seen a truck carrying a helicopter. Weird set, it would make sense if it's a crashed helicopter that needs a mechanic to repair it.
They have done it for a long while, i have the set with a much smaller one from 2008.
Helicopter transportation by truck is pretty common. But yeah - not for an active medical helicopter.
I have and no a chopper dont have to be crashed to be on the back of a truck. Sometimes choppers are transported by road because the new owner might not have clearance to fly the craft at the time.

The tiny wheels look quite weird on the trailer and I feel like there could be a small print or something on the yellow parts of the helicopter. It looks really plain. But I really like the colors otherwise. It looks like the canopy is a completely clear piece which has been coated with yellow paint for everything except the windshield.
Edit: I'm probably wrong about the canopy though.
Jang, If you have it or can find it would be interesting to see you compare this set to the 60183 helicopter transport from 2018. The catalog price for both was/is 30 USD (without considering inflation).
Light Gray Mudguard is first of it's kind. Now only if LEGO would make the short version in same color.
I was thinking throughout the review that it needed something to hold the rotors in place, so when Jang mentioned that I was completely on board with the review 👍

Missing the fact that the seat in the truck is joke, no fig can sit there.. and that the ramp in the heli has a large gap when closed. I think that is a design fail as well.
Even though it’s way too translucent I love the vibrant yellow regardless. I really appreciate LEGO deviating from American Red Cross to Red Cross Euro with the yellow and teal colour scheme. I can’t complain about the price

I do really like the new canopy piece of the helicopter. It’s one of those you can’t win situation. Either they make it 2 pant and it doesn’t connect well or they’ve made it connect perfectly and it feels like a One part piece like the ones in the dollar store
Good explanation of price and value and designer considerations. I like the realism here. I am somewhat put off by no sliding door on the chopper. A medical worker has to save someone's life with 1 line of studs seperating them from falling to their death. Real choppers can be open, but they have rigging (Usually military choppers, no?) My issue is that it has the look of a sliding closure and that is what I thought when I saw it. A fair review. Maybe my mind hasn't caught up with current pricing... Scary.
I agree on needing something to keep the rotor from turning while on the truck, the 80’s set 6357 stunt copter n truck also lacked this, and even as a kid that always bothered me
Jang, I agree with you about the Trailer. After I built it I was like. ' ok, and now what? ' I haven't touched it in awhile but I have the Cab and copter still.
As usual I think you are right on the spot with your comments. It would be better if the trailer was not that specific, and I think that could have been done while still keeping the total price of the parts at the same level as it is now. This trailer can only be used for transporting this helicopter, and how often do you really do that? Also I would have liked to see the wheels at the same size as the ones on the truck, as the wheels on the trailer now makes it looks sort of stupid.

A question have bugged me for all the previous reviews : is the transparency required for the uber fluo effect (as it does affect the perception of the color) ? Or is it just a by-product ?
My first thought was a comparison with 60183 the Heavy Cargo Transport. Now I think the helicopter definitely looks better in this set, minus the color scheme, but it's a nice looking vehicle in shape not every helicopter needs skids. Where this set really falls flat though is the vehicle and flatbed, as mentioned the trailer just doesn't have much feel of play value because they opted to go with a couple long bars and that's it. Plus the truck cab just looks so-so at best. Now I'm probably just stuck in the old pricing system, but that other set has 50% more pieces for the sale price, while I can see a $30 set here, I'd rather see it for $25 but Lego just has this thing where sets must be at certain increments it seems. $19.99, $29.99, $39.99 I'm having a hard time remembering at $24.99.

For far too long, the citizens of LEGO City have had nothing to help them out should a man fall into the river. Nice to see that that one particular need has been filled once more.

Lego should be careful with that new vibrant yellow color, not to let it be too see-through, it's quite a cool new color, but it should not be transluscent, and the helicopter would benefit with some doors, as Jang said, make the trailer more useful for other things, but it is a cool enough set and not too expensive, great review, Jang!
I don’t mind the yellow. The helicopter needs a few more details on it I think. Paid $28 Australian for mine so quite happy.

Thanks for the review. These City transport sets are getting worse every rerelease. LEGO City sets are really cheaply designed these days no matter what new color they introduce. This is just horrible.
Have they made a hitch system that is consistent for all the recent truck & trailer sets?
Nope. Most of them have the pin on the trailer, are at different heights etc.
Somehow the truck and trailer seem so stripped down to bare minimum, it almost feels like a 4+ set .... no exhaustpipes, no rear mudguards, no doors, frontwheels on the trailer should be on a turntable or something to ensure maneuverability...
Just feels less, compared to other trucks a few years back....
Isn't it reasonable that a 5+ set would only be a moderate step up in difficulty / parts count over 4+? I'd like all those things but they needed to go for durability and cost for this one.

That one has a WAY better truck & trailer. This one has a significantly more useful (and larger) helicopter.
Nice truck, heli is meh, but the trailer is butt-ugly. As you say useless for anything else. Besides, the real eyesore for me is the front wheel on the trailer. Semi-trailers normally dont have front wheels. And yet another variant on the truck-trailer coupling. 4-5 semis currently available in the City line, and all with different coupling system. I wish they would come up with a standard design and use that so it is easier to swap around.
I’m quite happy with my old one in the red and yellow combo from a few years ago, thank you. This looks like a cheap knockoff of that set.
When you look at the price tag over here in Europe, you cannot speak of good value, sorry.
I must admit I'm confused as to why a helicopter _needs_ a truck.
I really don’t like those tiny wheels on the trailer, other than that it’s a good set. And that vibrant yellow is growing on me, specially combined with the white and teal of the medical color scheme.

I'm not crazy about the color palette Lego has chosen for this year's medical themed sets. I also wish Lego would make a more basic tractor trailer truck.
What I can't stand, is why they put wheels on the front of the trailers these days. They did the same thing to the jet transporter. A trailer literally wouldn't be able to turn if it had wheels in the front.
The Chopper colure is very highlighter pen colure, yer I'm not digging the florescent colour plus no medical chopper of any nation would be that bright. I like the new colure but not for a chopper.

I don't like the set designwise, but it is worth it for the play value (which for an Afol isn't worth much, but this is a set intended for 5 year old kids). I'd say its a success for the kids that will play with it. I didn't even notice the new cockpit piece for the helicopter and am not a super huge fan of the new colour

The Dollar Store analogy for the new canopy piece is really troubling to me. Like we're talking the absolute lowest quality toys that are common to dollar stores and comparing it to the most profitable toy company in the world. Not good, Lego, not good at all.
I don’t like the new “yellow” it’s the same colour as the knock off brands have used for years and it looks cheap to me. Hate it.
The helicopter is okay I guess but the truck lacks detail and the trailer is just pitiful. I think there has been a similar set released around 2018 that easily trumps this one.

Hey Jang I know you have been in contact with the German youtuber held der Steine because some of his fans kept causing trouble on your and on other channels. He made a statement about it two weeks ago calling out to his community to stop. But since then he literally changed nothing at all when it comes to his behavior which in my opinion is strongly related to the behavior of his fans on other channels. He very recently published a review on this exact same set where he literally said that everyone who buys this set is stupid, lost his mind and is a "Fanboy" (whatever this means). So expect some of his followers to show up here causing trouble again.
Oh they have indeed been showing up and spreading hate and insults and I've been banning them. Disgusting behavior over some little plastic toys and I'm sick of it.

For me this set looks like really bad design.. so much air, free technic pieces, blank, empty.
The price per piece is too high, only 2 minifigures... I dont know. Dont like the Set and also think that the price is not good.
The trailer is abhorrent, sorry but it is, and the blue brick on the truck sucks so bad.
I hate the truck, looks absolutely terrible. And the idea that you need a truck to transport a helicopter is ridiculous. I get what your saying about who this is aimed at and play value and all, but for me they should of made this 20$ forgot the truck and made the helicopter way better.

Its so overprized, and literally a five year old could have come up with those builds. Especially because all designs are overextensivly basic and cheap and on top of that either very uninovative and reused (helicopter and truck) or simply ugly (trailer).
