    I like everything except for the overly garish blue colour used on the minifigures. A pet peeve of mine also is the jetpacks/bodygear that they use on the minifigures changing too often. It would have been nice if that was consistent with the space-town theme that they did 2 years ago, so that it helps make them consistent if someone wants to put them together. Also, this makes designs "old" really quickly.

    This wave of space sets looks a lot better than the previous one, though I am still disappointed with the amount of useable space, most of which is wasted on cargo sections

    • @Lordodragonss
      @Lordodragonss 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      At least there are solid cargo sections this time.

    Inspired by NASA concepts?
    Funny, because when I see this, I see it first as an Homage to Classic Space large rovers. like set 6950, 6928, or 6927 (especially the front window)
    ...maybe this means the NASA concepts are based on Classic Space as well, it did come first...

    I really like the design, it’s like the 3 in 1(this ones smaller tho), connecting it to the habitat is nice 👍 👍

    I do not like the gaps at the sides of the cockpit which kinda breaks the immersion that it's supposed to be fully sealed up. But other than that the set is fantastic.

    Still getting over how safaris and the arctic and even other celestial objects are still called "city"

    • @JANGsLEGOreviews
      @JANGsLEGOreviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +31

      It's just about packaging & branding. If every subtheme has its own unique completely box art, style, and brand, it's much more confusing for customers looking at store shelves. LEGO has probably too many themes as it is, so they consolidated a bunch of the core unlicensed stuff under the City umbrella years ago, to good effect.

    • @leetri
      @leetri 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If it wasn't for brand recognition and nostalgia, I'd prefer if they renamed LEGO City to like "LEGO World" or something like that to indicate it's more than just about building a city.

    • @greenhill004
      @greenhill004 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@JANGsLEGOreviews Also after the disaster that were the Hidden Side boxes, and probably lead to the failure of the theme, it's better for LEGO to keep things simple.

    • @marcch72
      @marcch72 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can use these sets in a city layout. Just create an area for space exploration training (in this case)

    • @Benjamin0119
      @Benjamin0119 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think City is meant to represent the modern contemporary world, which includes all those things mentioned, and not necessarily a city itself specifically. And yes, as Jang mentioned, for branding.

    I've been thinking of getting this since I already have the Lunar Research Base for my kids. The base's play feature where it connects to this rover is the biggest reason why I felt compelled to get this, and Jang's review.

  • @AHYL88

    Is this the most manoeuvrable vehicle Lego has done for the longest time that doesn't require us to pick it up off the ground to turn it? Cos it looks legit fun and awesome!
    Price is a touch high, I was expecting $30, although there's a lot of (small) wheels and tyres plus the fittings for the wheels that's normally seen in Speed Champions sets in this, as well as a number of larger pieces.

  • @beskarbricks2686
    @beskarbricks2686 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Once you pointed it out, I never stopped looking at the wheels.

  • @greenhill004
    @greenhill004 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    The price is outrageous.
    The EU and UK price is still several dollars cheaper with VAT taxes included. So really in the USA the price is 25% more. That's unacceptable and we need to call LEGO out on it.

    • @user-lynKx
      @user-lynKx 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, a good and likely 20% discount is what a lot of people wait for. You could be in that boat if you have similar patience. Still sucks though, that it's not your proposed $32 to begin with :/

    • @NirateGoel
      @NirateGoel 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Let the UK&EU have good prices for once! Most of the time it's the US gets the much better prices.

    • @greenhill004
      @greenhill004 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because AGAIN, The USA price doesn't include a sales tax. The Euro price DOES include the price.
      So $40USD play 19% tax and switched to Euro is 44 Euros.
      Take 19% off of the 30 Euro price and switch it to USD, it's a $26.50 set!!!

    • @greenhill004
      @greenhill004 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@user-lynKx It should be a $30. The Space Station is even worse and should be $50, not $80.

    • @JANGsLEGOreviews
      @JANGsLEGOreviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In the US we pay total sales taxes usually in the 5% to 9% range, never 19% (I have no idea where you got that from).

    I wish LEGO would make air locks for their space builds, because with no air lock, (or at lest 2 doors with imagination) it makes it so unrealistic.

  • @R0Sch88
    @R0Sch88 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    LEGO should have made the proper classic space logo, this one is just very similar, which makes little sense. Also the flag could have been printed and used in multiple sets. Same goes for the solar panels.

    I’m from the Uk hence my comment. But this looks like the rover James May drove of NASA’s. It’s not identical but loosely based on. However that one he drove will never be used for the purpose it was built.

    30 bucks, tops. That's over 10 cents a piece for lego city space brand. Not to mention it just doesn't look that good especially when you compare it to set 31107, the creator space rover that could be 3 sets, had 510 pieces for 40 dollars.

  • @diamond_tango

    Those wheels are glorious!
    I love this set. My only gripe is the minifigures can't access that second room from inside the vehicle. I take that as the room that would be used to switch into EV suits. The set doesn't include extra outfits of course, since that would be a whole other set of torsos and legs, but that play scenario would be having the minifigures go to that room, you add on the extra parts for the EV suits, remove the hair pieces and put on the helmets, and then the minifigures exit the vehicle and go exploring. I wonder how hard it would be to modify a door there.

  • @Mr_Waffle.
    @Mr_Waffle. 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I love the wheels and front half of this set so much. The back half feels half-done though. Is it storage space? Why is there a groove in there that doesn’t match anything that comes with the sets? Why is there a flap on the back? A crane arm on the back to load up the moon rock into the cargo space/ onto the flap would’ve helped a lot I think. Or made the cargo space compatible with a mini rover from the moon base set?

    @defenderprime8046 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I agree that the wheels work super well on this vehicle! The only thing missing would be to have a spring suspension, since the Moon is not a flat surface of course, but otherwise, it works. The set in all is very cool and the price quite attractive as well, they did a great job on it! Cool review, Jang!

    LEGO needs to bring back the classic space baseplate, or find a better way to create something similar, because the "crater" that geode sits on isn't doing it for me.

    I really like this rover vehicle and the fact that NASA have a demonstrator/test vehicle in real life just like this with the six castoring wheels is brilliant. About the only downside to the set is that there isn't a "Jang-inspired" minifig faced member of the crew - Jang in Space!

  • @Brixxter
    @Brixxter 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    In my opinion the wheel movement is almost a bit over the top. From my experience it's a bit difficult to get the wheels into a certain orientation and once they are where you want you can't touch the vehicle at all any more. The slightest movement completely spins them around.
