I can't wait to see chips flying from the lathe. And Wiggles is definitely a great help for watching for issues with a new machine. You're definitely raising a great Yong, man there with Wiggles.
The cover for the switch panel describes maintenance for the three commutators on the drive using commutator stones, these are available from Ideal Electric. exciter voltage needs to be around 115volts DC or the machine will surge starting at higher speeds. The commutator dressing is important particularly on the exciter for it to produce the operating voltage for the switches and voltage for the drive motor fields. The resisters look good, if replacing them does not solve your problems then above will apply. The good news is the machine runs, it is just some tuning in now. For the machine to perform correctly over time it will need attention. Good Luck!
@@DonDyarprecision I think you your channel was the one I watched the most just to inform myself about the lathe in general. Every time I was tempted to trash the DC drive and swap in a three phase motor and vfd I would remind myself that Don would never forgive me if I did😂
They are super nice machines! I have a '53 MG type, amazingly rigid and accurate even with some wear and neglect from PO. There are no less than 4? different types of oil 'supposed' to be used in the machine. The 10EE Bishops will scold you tennaciosly if they see you using 'other than' the comannded lubricant types......lol. You will love running that nice toy. The sound of the MG set adds an ambiance to the experience IMO.
Don Dyer, Keith Rucker, Steve Watkins and Sam at Scrappy Industries all have 10EE Monarchs. Sam is in western PA. I'm sure any one of these fellows will help you out. AL B.
Wiggles is smart, he's keeping his cards close to his chest. He knows how to make it run. It's HIS NEW LATHE. Correct me if I'm wrong. Watch this space. Great content guy's. ATB for 2025 👍
Harbor freight NASA set of funnels under a buck that would be perfect for this lathe. Red and stacked together I've had a set and for fills like on this machine
Wiggles has good situational awareness. You have a good boy. You are blessed!
He is a great kid 🙂

Outstanding ...
Fantastic result! BUT make sure it is earthed (grounded)!!!

Don, you are the go to 10EE guy…..thanks for sharing…and give Chloe a kiss for me

I looked up the specs in the manual and decided that light hydraulic oil was close enough 😂
Fantastic…looking forward to see this Jewell back in action…Cheers from Orlando, Paul
Thank you for stopping by, hopefully this is just the beginning of a great new addition to the tool collection 🙂
look like there's a lot to play with, can't wait to see it put through its paces.
I don't know how I'm going to survive an entire week waiting for the resistors to get here 😜
That's awesome news! Monarch built good machines, I hope you get lots of good use out of that one!
This has been a long time coming.
Remember that's Wiggles 10EE.
🤣 he was already asking if he could run it
@@perpetualmotion1 I seen that.
Nice machine!
It sure is!

Steve has been in hospital and still there, he has been posting from there…and could use some encouragement….Paul in Orlando
