1000/1000 people will appreciate this. Not even close to 1/1000 will appreciate the technical difficulty of it or the skill required to play it. Excellent.
I just lost a long message here. Bummer. Anyway, I am so happy to be listening to this unforgettable performance by Tatyana in Dakhla Morocco since I’m in confinement due to covid-19. I ended up in this part of the Sahara desert by mere accident and have stayed over theee months now. I’m currently traveling through Africa by motorcycle. I’m so lucky I know. Thank you for the beautiful music
She speaks to the music with her own story in her expressions, one that we can never know but by our placing ourselves in those expressions with a story of our own.
She's great, this is what "doing" music is all about. I always hated my vocal teachers telling me not to move when I sang opera. Been performing for 45 years, I get sick of the criticism that aimed @ people of accomplishment- she is really enjoying her work and it shows- Good for her!! Love ya Chica!! Keep up the good work- Ladypicker88
Well you've touched a nerve. Do we want to hear this really good playing and think about the music, or is somehow this artist's emoting supposed to be an essential part of the listening experience? I'm afraid I prefer less emoting. You are ok to tell me to "just look away" which until I get used to this excess, I will have to do! But just the same, as great as her musicianship is, and it is at a very high level, this much emoting is a sad distraction. Oh well!
Tatyana, it is always a pleasure to watch you and hear you playing. The beauty of the music blends with your interpretation and expressions, looks and all included. . Thanks for this gift to the world.
every part perfectly clear - brings out the countersubject really well - instead of thumping out the subject only as so many do - this music is as good as it gets - and to play on the guitar to this level of abstraction and phrasing is incredibly challenging (I speak form experience!!)
She is in bliss playing Bach, as one should be! But it is wonderful to see a musician who is one with the music and plays with their whole body. I can barely look at guitarists who seem tortured and tense when they play. When I see her play I am so inspired to pick up my guitar, she makes the difficult look easy.
I find it humorous when a pretty girl plays anything there are people coming out of the woodwork to complain about how distracting she is. She played this piece pretty damn well regardless of whether you were distracted or not. Get a life.
Sam Patterson exactly it is hard to play classical music. Both my grandfather and his son my uncle are classically trained pianists which included playing folks like chopin. It is very hard to perform such a music!
Grignak01 I don't think it's quite that stereotyped as you describe it. I agree with both sides here. Here artistic accomplishment is without question. Her performance is very good throughout most of the piece, and has a few overt periods displaying enough of a lack of stamina that the playing itself is slightly distracting as well. But many virtuosos are given to vulgar facial and body contortions which are more intended to help the artist focus on the performing a complex composition and navigate evolving musical structures. Some of her facial expressions do appear mocking, and this may be a misplaced inference. But there are times when it is difficult to detect enough ambiguity to say more than whether the target of caricature is the audience or an imagined actor in the composition. It was a valid opinion, although expressed improperly as an absolute. It may be fine to describe how something effects you, however, one should never blame a performer entirely, when only the audience can ultimately control what they may infer from any one expression. If people would learn this about politics, there'd be less bloodshed in the world. Tatyana, thank you for your fine work. Please continue.
I will never get tired of listening to Tatyana play this piece. I just love the way she sneers at some of those notes she plays. I love ever one of her videos. and there are many of them by now. But this one is one of my favorites.
@metairielawyer As to your last sentence, you make it blatantly obvious you have not done so at all. I support every musician’s growth, Tatyana is no exception. She plays adequately here and is a pleasure to watch. Wishing her all the best.
I never understood why people use body language with this kind of instrumental work/performance. Every one seems to do it but me.. What the hell is wrong with everyone!?!?
My wife is a really incredible guitarist and can memorize pieces on the instrument very quickly... So once, when we were teens, I had had a particularly bad day and couldn't sleep that night. So, knowing how much I love classical music, she learned this piece and sat next to my bed playing it all night until I fell asleep. I can't listen to it without getting a little teary-eyed now.
Classical artists get into their music, they don't come down from the ceiling, jump up and down, they play the way that they feel, that's what's cool!!!!!!
I've been watching some of her tutorial videos (which are also very good btw) and she has one specifically about this, it's something she has explicitly worked on.
Utterly wonderful rendition, Tatyana. Thank you for sharing your skill with us. I've played, on and off, for more than 40 years, but I can't come close tou your performance. Carry on, beautiful and talented woman!
I first watched this video in the spring 2011, and the reason was not the playing but Tatyana's outlook. She looks like my girl friend of distant past. Only the next thing I understood was her great playing. I have been playing this fuga but I guess I will never get it ready to be presented. Finally, the composition itself is something every classical guitarist and every tonal music friend (i. e. all!) should be interested in! It should be our daily, or at least weekly, musical bread. I still return to this video and listen without thinking too much else. When I am dead I guess there is nobody to play this to remember me. But... it is their life. This is mine!
1000/1000 people will appreciate this. Not even close to 1/1000 will appreciate the technical difficulty of it or the skill required to play it. Excellent.
This Bach, what a genius composer. He wrote so much, and so good! It's amazing. Thanks for sharing this.
Bach was the greatest of them all.
Her playing is spectacular, but I also really love how she smiles at what she's doing.
She breathes life and gives a heartbeat to her guitar. Havenly!

Thank you for the beautiful music
She was 'only' 24 at the time of that recording. Gives me goosebumps. Would love to hear her playing that piece now.
Look at how she just feels the music with her body. The motions. Wonderful, just wonderful. You are pure talent! (:
Please i try to concentrate on the music so avoid the word "body" please. : )

Wonderful, I've been playing for over 50 years and have never even approached this level of playing.... Beautiful
Timothy Gray 50 years is a long time.

...a beautiful woman, beautifully playing a beautiful piece on a beautiful instrument. What's not to like?
Wonderful playing and such a light interpretation. You seem to dance through all the difficulties. Lovely to watch and lovely to listen to. Thank you.

Best execution ever: elegant sound, real "fuga" rhythm and masterful playing. Thanks from Italy.

Respect. That was completely awesome. The guitar truly sang, and the piece was presented as fun to play. Mr Bach is surely pleased to hear this. :-)
I love how clear the recording is.
One of the best in the world
Love the smile she has when she plays
I find it humorous when a pretty girl plays anything there are people coming out of the woodwork to complain about how distracting she is. She played this piece pretty damn well regardless of whether you were distracted or not. Get a life.
yeah ....very insulting considering the hours of practice it takes to play this well!
Should play with a bag on her head

Beautiful music and the musician!
