If Jerry can’t be on the vocals, then instrumental version allows me to hear him! Nice job guys.

I saw them on that first tour as well, with T Lavitz and Billy Cobham on drums! They brought the house down at the Wild Duck.

Come on! This whole section of Alphonso getting it starting at like 10:30... Pete is digging it... I hope this line-up stays together for a few years... I'd like to see where this goes. Thank you Dr. Bob!

Interesting new lineup. I saw the original too in the late 90-s? Variety playhouse ATL. I marched backstage like I belonged there & gave Jimmy Herring a joint 😂
    Kimock is the man.

      @will420ist 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

I did that at the Variety too. It was Garage a Trois and I was jointless at the moment. They were not impressed. I think it was Charlie Hunter who said 'you're not chicks'.

Saw them in Chicago a few days ago. WOW! Bobby Lee can really play that banjo and through a Leslie amp to boot!!
You know this song ain't ever gonna end!
Steve, Pete, and Alphonso rocked too. Steve on the slide for stella blue was sublime!
The crowd was all chanting "Alphonso" at the end of the show. It was really beautiful, great music, great crowd, small theatre!!

Amazing music…so sad to miss!! Only reason is date overlapped with Bob Weir and Bobby is older! (Lol 😅)
I’m so hoping for another tour of this tribute, wish I could go
On tour, but I’m an RN at the VA hospital in Sacramento. Limited vacation dates. Hope to see you play in the Bay Area or west of way sacramento, Placer county up to Reno! What a treat!!

It would be interesting to see a band with Bill on drum , Alphonso on bass, Jack Pearson, and Bobbie on guitar
    with maybe Bruce on keys.

Took me minute to get used to the more laid back version…but, I can hang with, and appreciate the musicality, just felt my pulse drop so quickly, that’s all..lol. Compared to the excitement of Herring & company. I’m trying to be nice, here….😅 I definitely appreciated the surprise laid back feeling and approach. Very nice, as I listen on. Gb

The one and only Mr Johnson, what a career, and but for Jaco Alphonso would have been the main man.

I saw them years ago in Tampa. I was expecting Jimmy Herring because, I don't know, maybe because he had been on all the albums... anyway, I was not particularly happy to find Steve on guitar. Jimmy has an unmistakable style that's hard to mimic, and obviously, Steve was smart enough to do his own thing, which is okay with me. It wasn't that night years ago, but that wasn't his fault.

Really missing the energy Jimmy and Jeff brought to this band. Im sure I'll enjoy though.

    • @SuperLocrian

Jimmy Herring is probably my favorite living guitarist - seen him in countless situations beginning with ARU all the time in the 90's 'cause I live in Bham AL. Nothing will match that OG JID line-up - or Phil and Friends "The Q"....
I will be interested to see where this goes if they stay together for a few years... still light-years better than Dead and Slow....

  • @joegoliver3

When I hear Jazz is Dead I think Jimmy Herring. And not much else.

IMO Steve Kimock is far superior.

3 of my favorite musos, Rob, Steve and Jimmy... all of whom I discovered playing with either Phil or Further... so, "Jazz is Dead" will be a fun rabbit hole for me.

  • @fullarmorofgodpatriot7985

This isn't the Jazz is Dead that I'm familiar with...the one with Jimmy Herring and Rob Baracco are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better. IMO

Snobby. Perhaps view, hear and accept the music as art and any one particular artist can be a favorite, but to dismiss it out of hand is a bit too high-brow in the face of the vibes these guys are offering to the audience, that @DrBobZero caught in the moment.
