Standards, Coverversionen, Eigenkompositionen - all das hat John Scofield in den über 50 Jahren seiner Karriere in den unterschiedlichsten Konstellationen auf die Bühnen dieser Welt gebracht. Unterwegs zwischen Jazz, Jazzrock, Funk, Soul, Blues und Rock, ist der Gitarrist dabei vor allem für seine „Inside-OutSide“-Improvisationen berühmt. Bei denen bricht er spontan aus der eigentlichen Tonart aus - und kehrt dann, ebenso spontan wie virtuos, nach seinen ganz eigenen Regeln wieder zur ursprünglichen Tonart zurück.

Great playing by each of these guys! The video and sound are so damn good too; the bar has been raised. (I haven't heard Bill Stewart in a bit either , so I'm thrilled.) I think "guitar trio" is a tough thing to do, and here it is!

Audiomäßig sehr gut aufgezeichnet, knackiges Schlagzeug mit straff gespannten Fellen, klare Gitarre !
Leider sind viele Jazzaufzeichnungen akustisch sehr mulmig und dumpf vom Fernsehen, da fragt man sich manchmal, ob da wirkliche Toningenieure am Mischpult sitzen oder Gärtner.

When i was young for some reason i was able to stay focused and listen to a Jazz guitarist all the way through. Now much older it's very difficult. Difficult because i now like my music to be structured like songs and not have the guitarist or some other predominant instrument player soloing from beginning to end through it. I dont know if i could go to a Jazz guitarist concert of any of my favorite players since my expectation would be of them playing exactly what i heard on the album.
