Another fantastic video, Moto Mission with Brock Gill! Loved seeing the highlights from section two of the NEBDR-what an adventure! The insights on the challenges and hidden 'surprises' along the route are super helpful for anyone planning to ride it. Thanks for giving us a heads-up on what to expect and sharing your passion for adventure riding with us. Keep up the great work! Looking forward to the next section!
Hey Brock, the hard section you missed I believe was cr3 out of fleischman's ny. And then dumps out on to Route 23 in prattsville. I do sections of the bdr all the time with people and went over that Trail a couple months ago and they've definitely have done some work to it so it really is not that technical anymore. I hope you got to stop in to moto Cafe in Hudson while you were there, they have great coffee and an awesome motorcycle shop!
@veloguru11 I rode the Elevator Shaft a few months ago, the long downhill has since been somewhat graded so it's really not very technical anymore unfortunately. I also think it may be a bit late for Brock to turn around as I believe he probably did this about a month ago.
It's extremely important that when we ride, we ride at the speed limit and don't put loud mufflers on our bikes. Those are the 2 things that I hear the most complaining about. Speed and noise. Only an idiot would sabotage a roadway. Doing stuff like that could get someone hurt or killed. Forgive me for ranting. Gorgeous scenery, great job on the video to y'all both. Definitely on my must ride list now.
Nice ride. I’ll have to give it a go next autumn. I live half the year in Baja Mexico, and folks there are very friendly. When you ask for directions it’s a similar experience as you had. There is always a burned out truck or car in the directions. And they’ll say, you turn at Maria’s house, not Maria Sanchez’s, Maria Gonzalez, like you should know everyone who lives in their village. But I’ve had some epic adventures and there’s always something new to discover.
I spent my childhood on a dairy farm about 15 miles from Andes. Then most of early adulthood about 90 miles north/east. There are times when I really miss the area. Especially this time of year. Everyone automatically thinks of NYC when New York is brought up, but your video is showing that there is a lot more. It's a shame that the taxes and politics make it so difficult to live there once you've been exposed to other places. I'll stick with TN.
Glad you stopped at the bridge. It was the second largest free span covered bridge in the world until 2011. Native central New Yorker here my NEBDR adventure is happening in may! Love the vids!
Hey Brock, I am really enjoying your NEBDR series. Great storytelling and cinematography. I am familiar with three sections and it’s great to see it through your lens’s. Thank you for sharing the adventure and I know the amount of hard work that goes in to creating these videos. Cheers!
I lived outside of Boston the first 10 years of my life (I'm 60), and the fall colors (and the great Italian food!) are the ONLY thing I miss about the East Coast, ESPECIALLY since it's gone full KommieKKKRAT woketarded over the years.
"The world is full of jerks, the number increasing rapidly the further one gets from Missoula, Montana." -Norman Maclean I reckon whoever put down those screws isn't walking with our Lord & Savior.
You've just confirmed the serious drought the northeast/New England is experiencing by the drone footage of the reservoir. Such low levels. So much exposed shoreline.
@MotoMission. Cool. I noticed you starting to feature her more starting a few rides ago, but this technique of seeing what she's up to is brilliant, IMO. Plus, her vibe is really pleasant, she comes across as humble yet competent, like a kind and thoughtful companion. Of course there's the eye candy aspect too; the thing is that it all comes together very well and adds joy to the content. The father/son thing sounds fantastic. My son isn't into motorcycling himself, he's into mountain biking, but his son (my grandson) is a fervent dirt rider. And he could keep up with the group too, the reason he couldn't partake yet is that he just turned seven. So it's be awhile... However, I think it would be a hoot to participate in one of your ventures at some juncture perhaps with my wife as pillion. We shall see what the future brings; it's looking hopeful on many fronts. Blessings!
I don’t believe that bridge was an official closed bridge. Someone doesn’t want anyone to use it. You did the right by going around. Good news you met some nice people along the way. Life is good. Great ride the leaves were awesome! My recliner has a levitation fan so was able to fly right over that bridge. You just can’t slow down a good recliner. Only 7 more days.
A good friend of mine was killed on his atv from a wire across the path. The sun was in his eyes and he didn't see it. His brother was close behind him and saw it happen. Some people are DISGUSTING they think the world is only for themselves.
That's a nice light house but pay attention to the tidal schedule. When the tide comes in you can get your feet wet hiking back out. I had to piggyback my wife out the first time we visited it. 😉👍
I'm betting a local changed the sign with their blue painter's tape and wrote "closed", and threw out the screws on the bridge deck and bought a roll of yellow ribbon to "close" the bridge to suit their own liking. A road maintenance crew would not have a sign made up with painter's tape covering up the original wording on it.
EXACTLY. It's some a$$hole locals that don't like motorcycles thinking that they own public land. This needs to be reported to the authorities to let THEM shut this down, this is highly ILLEGAL, especially nooby-trapping the road with screws like that. People in Colorado were doing the same thing. Various people owned the land on both side of a PUBLIC BLM forestry road, and put up "Private Property" signs on the road itself claiming that the road was private property, instead of just the areas on the sides of the road.
as for screws go: the trail probably goes through somebody else's property, so they think they have control over the road also. there are allot of people like that where we ride around here in NY. we would have picked up the screws and went through anyway, but I guess if you're riding alone it is best not to risk getting into some kind of confrontation with someone
I didn’t know what else had been done. I talked to a local later and found out that it has been cleaned up and re opened after some sketchy behavior. Kinda wild
People are putting up official looking signs in Hickman County, TN. They are hoping you think it's an official closure and will turn around. If the road is on a county map, they can't keep you from using it. There are two roads I like to ride that have these signs and I just keep riding.
@@MotoMission. Yeah, I take it easy through there. I understand why they don't want a bunch of people going up and down their peaceful road, but it is public.
Dude those screws are crazy. Sounds like when I take my Himalayan on the NEBDR I better bring my RotoPac. Gas might seem a little limited for my fuel capacity.
How about Fathers and Daughters? I'm a 65 yo woman who wishes I had been introduced to motorcycling when I was a kid! And engine maintenance, and the rest. Thank God for the College of TH-cam! Great videos, BTW :)
Of course. But the pavement sections will feel a bit long on a single cylinder. I suggest a twin cylinder bike for this one if possible Lemme know your experience.
Setting-up “ManTraps” is beyond cowardly and can get a disgruntled home owner very hurt and in years of trouble. I am still trying to figure out who the maggot is that buried industrial glass shards on a public beach because he dont like all the dog walkers who are not always diligent about keeping their pets out of the water in 90 degree heat i am assuming. If i ever figure it out im probably going back to jail.
That seems like quit a stretch to simply say that someone sabotaged the bridge. If one was looking to do that there seems like a lot more effective ways to do it then that. BTW, Beautiful footage
Much of the route is paved. But when you get off road it can have mud and rocks at any moment. Tires will be critical. Be careful. Adv bikes are designed for this. So it’s what I would advise you to use.
Someone thinks they own the road... Best not to F with them wait untill you get up into VT... They get wacky deep in the woods there... Last exploring in VT I had a bad feeling about where I was and turned around then asked on a local group and was told it was wise that guys loopy and you might disappear.. That wasn't on the BDR but it is new england for you..
Ok Dude, I know you live and die by video clicks and views, but that bridge was not "Sabotaged". Come on man, there was a mile of yellow tape around that bridge, and if you decided to cross it that was on you. Any one from NY would probably have temporarily taken the tape down, crossed and put the tape backup. And that stream looked passable If you did some "real off roading". If someone Sabotaged that bridge it would have been a wire strung across the road. I live relatively close to that area, you have to remember New York is a very litigious state, even in the backwoods of the lower Catskill's, hence all the yellow tape. The screws are no more than a non-motivated town worker not cleaning up at the end of the day. Some of these towns do not have huge budgets for seasonal road repair. Stop with the Bait clicking. Most of NY state is actually rural except for the metro areas. Oh yea, not every mom-and-pop business takes credit or debit cards in NY, bring cash! God bless every mom-and-pop business that still exists, they are getting fewer and fewer by the year. The guy in the previous video who came to your campsite probably had 30 bikes drive up his driveway, it's the fall and the BEDR sends everyone his way. I personally would make a sign and let them know after the 2nd or 3rd person came up that way that was not the correct route. Remember you are doing Adventure Motorcycling; you are going to run into difficulties. Sorry to vent, but you touched a nerve, know what you're talking about before you post, and remember this is just entertainment, but still has to be factual.
Brock, It's Graham, the guy on the bike travelling with his dad. Was great to ride with ya! Enjoying the videos!
Graham ! Hey buddy. Good to hear from ya. Did yall make it to the end ?

That blue tape "closed" was not an official signage. Some local did that to keep riders from going over.
