    I saw Trapeze twice in the 70's. These guys were fantastic!

    I believe the only band signed to the Moody Blues Threshold label.

    Perfect analogy of a fabulous album and awesome band.I really loved the follow up album to this as well,”You are the music we’re just the band”which was a bit more funky.

    One of my favorite albums of all time. I had an 8 track or this album and played Black Cloud over and over the first time I took my first car, 75 nova, out of town when I was 16. Headed to see Rossington Collins Band in Tulsa, OK in 79. They cancelled so we drank pitchers of beer at Pizza Hut with our fake IDs. Crashed about a block away and had to call my parents to pick up 150 miles away. Ahh, good times.

    "......talking out the top of your head!?" I can think of another anatomical area you might be
    spouting from when you purport that "chuckable" comparison!! But in all honesty "CC" an
    immensely enjoyable video on this obscure band. You obviously must ADORE this album as
    you rattle on for more than 20 min.!! that should have clocked in at 5 min. before losing your

    Correct me if I'm wrong, but did you say Trapeze were better than Judas Priest? It's hard to tell because, perhaps out of embarrassment, you sort of stammered and slurred you're way through it so we wouldn't notice. 18:00

    • @crushedcustard
      @crushedcustard  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No embarrassment because I didn't say that at all. I said some people see them as a feeder band Hughes to Purple, Galley to Whitesnake, Holland to Judas Priest. But they are not, they are better than that. IE better than being though of as just a feeder band. Not suggesting they were better than Purple snake or Priest. Thanks for watching

      Perhaps with a more strident management/representation, Trapeze might have joined the big league? I only read recently that Led Zeppelin’s own label Swan Song were interested in signing Trapeze. Bad Company had an affiliation with Swan Song and were bigger in the USA too.Perhaps with Glenn still on board,the Hotwire material might have been ‘next level’?

    • @crushedcustard
      @crushedcustard  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@LEEFORDJAGG you could well be right about the Hot Wire material as there are some great tracks on that album. There are some live albums from the Trapeze reformation with Glenn singing some Hot Wire tracks. Sound great.

    "Why aren't Trapeze mentioned in the same breath as Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, even Judas Priest."
    Dude. How great do you think Trapeze was? I think you have a outsized notion of it. You chose the biggest bands in the world to use as a comparison? Bands that could sell out 20,000 seat arenas. While your band Trapeze played 5,000 seat theaters at best. And probably less than that here in America. You should have toned it down and compared them to other not huge bands like Thin Lizzy, 70's ZZ Top, Rick Springfield, Foghat, Billy Squire, etc.
    I've listened to a bit of Trapeze cuz I'm a Priest fan. I don't know, maybe I need to listen to more Trapeze and listen better. Because I'm not seeing it. Granted, I'm not into men who scream high a lot.

    • @crushedcustard
      @crushedcustard  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I probably do have an over inflated opinion of them to be fair. But that's the point of these videos isn't it, to maybe point people in the direction of something they have missed or let like minded people know there are other people out there who have over inflated opinions too. And it seems from the comments that a lot of people agree with me. Its all about personal preference isn't it. I listen to Judas Priest too but if I had to pick which band I preferred of the two it would be Trapeze. Obviously for you it would be the opposite. That's what makes music great, everyone has there own take on things. Cheers.

    • @Frip36
      @Frip36 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@crushedcustard Yeah I get the different opinions make the world go round, thing. You should have come at me harder. LOL
      I listened to Medusa. It's actually quite a bit better than I remember it to be. I didn't let myself get distracted by Hughe's often annoying singing, and instead focused on his guitar work. Impressive and tasteful.
      The thing that stood out was how obviously Halford was influenced by Hughes on Priest's first 2 albums. Rocka Rolla '74, and to a lesser extent (because less bluesy, "Sad Wings of Destiny" '76. Of course they were both influenced by Gillan.
      Subbed cuz I like how you talk all funny. Have to knock you down to .75 speed to understand you. Sometimes .5 speed because sometimes you simply fail to pronounce words in any recognizable form.
      Can you do a comparative review of Heaven and Hell vs. Mob Rules? And which one you like better.
      Thanks from SoCal. Probably the only place in America that anyone remembers Trapeze. (Besides a few geezers in Cleveland, maybe).

      @@Frip36 one of my jobs is commentating on horse racing so I do tend to talk a bit quick! There is a review of Heaven and Hell if you go back a few videos but not done Mon Rules yet. For me Heaven and Hell is miles better than Mon Rules

      @@crushedcustard I watched most of the Heaven and Hell video last night. Lots of historical commentary. Good, commentary . But i already knew about the history and such. Was hoping for more of a song-opinion video like you did with Medusa.
      Most people think Heaven and Hell is way better than Mob Rules. I beg to differ. And would advise those people to re-examine Mob Rules. Heaven and Hell has a lot of filler and boring simplicity. For the most part Mob has better songwriting and more gravitas.
