  • Today Kelly Galloup takes us down to Chile where he got to experience a very rare phenomenon: Rainbows busting on minnows like Tuna would in the ocean. This episode showcases the diversity of fishing in Chile. We fished streamers in the morning (see the last episode), fished to these rainbows on baitballs, and threw dragonflies on the lake. Hope you enjoy!

I live in Blue Ridge, GA. I met Quentin a few years ago. I pulled up to my "last hour of daylight" fishing spot and Quentin was standing there were I was hoping to fish. I killed the truck and watched him whack half a dozen DH stockers in about 10 minutes and yelled down to him, "Hey, bud you think I could get a shot at it now?" We had a good laugh about it. Quentin then told me who he was and that he was going to be in Blue Ridge until the end of the summer and was hoping to get connected with some local guide services to make some money while in Blue Ridge before he had to head back to Alaska. As a guide myself, I pointed Quentin in the right direction. Never thought I'd see him again. Now, I'm watching him guide the legend on a river in Chile. What a time to be alive. Tight lines, fellas.

    I can't believe Kelly's channel only has 47000 subs .... should be 200000

I can’t think of better FF content than his.

I’ve mostly enjoyed his videos, but he has a way of presenting that gets a little tiresome at times. Repeating himself or TMI. But overall, some great info. I like his advice on streamer retrieves.

@@paigeloomis that's just who Kelly is. He doesn't change or put on a different persona for the camera, what you see is what you get. Thanks for watching.

Awesome video. I’m watching your technique closely in hopes of improving my subpar casting skills. Mega Thx Kelly !

Most days, you go fishing. But every now and then, you have a day of catching. 😁

That clip of right around 16:45-1700 with the fish coming out of the water is super majestic haha

Kelly Galloup has a hard job. Flying to Chile to fish is hard.

I've caught some nice fish by those dead tree's in Quake lake. I think Kelly is spoiled by those big Madison river browns😂
I caught an 18" Brown below the Hebgen lake damn that had teeth marks on it's lower body above the tail. I would love to catch the fish that tried to eat it.

It's definitely a once in a lifetime trip. But I'd rather take my rig to Montana and throw Dungeons

Same man! Understand his philosophy there but he loses thousand(s) fish every year to that. Those big eats must be worth it

You need to change the music to the Jaws theme when the big 'uns bite.

Kelly, & my fellow streamer slingers, off topic, but, I didn’t think that adding a comment to your q and a that has been some years since the last one made would procure me the knowledge I am seeking. Some may even think”what a novice question….” Perhaps, but, still an issue. I’ve watched many hours of your content, I have learned so much from your videos, as well as friends out on the North Ga and North Carolina waters but have yet to see or hear anything on the topic of color bleed over. I would much rather store my streamers by size/style and run straight through the colors that you have mentioned in many a video. However, I am reluctant to do so seeing as if I don’t separate whites/grays, they wind up being shart-treuse instead of chartreuse or some other dingy color other than the flashy attention grabbing, eat me white it should be. So, that said. I would love to hear you discuss how you store your streamers when on the water and still keep kill whitey white. Currently I just keep my whites and grays in their own separate streamer wallet. Therefore, I have to access 2 different storage systems to fish the color game until I see what gets the chase on. Thanks.

Make sure to dry your flies out thoroughly before putting them back in your box. Velcro or foam patches work great for drying flies out.
