You can probably install it from home app in the 'oculus go' section. Then on quest with to 'go' apps to install (if it's a cross platform supported app it will show up in step 2, if not it won't be visible)
This one got me thinking. I would love to inject or activate the Android features that allow us to run OpenVPN (currently blocked on the Oculus Quest). Obviously nothing to hide, but really I don't like the idea of the Oculus phoning home to big Daddy Facebook.
If you ever install settings.apk, keep your fingers off the "display time out". This setting overwrites the corresponding Oculus setting and your device switches off at least every 30 minutes (max. Value), even during a game, because this setting does not notice anything about your activity. Wenn du jemals settings.apk installierst, dann lass die Finger vom "Display time out". Diese Einstellung überschreibt die entsprechende Oculus Einstellung und dein Gerät geht mindestens alle 30 Minuten aus (max. Thank you. I was having an issue setting the time to 24 hour format as it's not native in this apps settings but fortanutely with this app, I can use the setting native to the android Architecture instead to finally set it to 24 hour like everything else in the house thanks to this.
@@darkracer1252 It's because 24 hour is just simply better. I have everything set to 24 hour. I don't like having letters in my time format or seeing the same number repeat a second time.

Hi. So, I adjusted the screen timeout, thinking it would save some battery life. Unfortunately, I can't play for longer than the max setting of 30 minutes, any idea of how to fix it without resetting it? I also tried adjusting the screen size, now whenever I go to the shutdown menu, it's really small and far away compared to how it was.
Not working on quest 2 :( Maybe something in one of the oculus system updates? I can see the app in the TV channels, but it throws an error when I try to open in.

@@StrainNoMore adb shell settings put system screen_brightness 0 The value can be ranging from 0 to 255 (for minimal and maximal brightness). I suggest 0 for the darkest experience.
@Magica Fox Try one of these: adb shell "su 0 toolbox date -s 20161231.235959" , where YYYYMMDD.HHmmss format is applied. OR adb shell "su 0 toybox date 123123592016.59" , where MMDDhhmm[[CC]YY][.ss] is the format. One of them should work depending on the Android version Quest is using.

hey dude, i did this, linked my headphones via the bluetooth, sounds wasnt delayed or anything, launched Audio Trip and the game was laggin really bad :s .. as soon as i disconnected the bluetooth it ran fine :s
ok. so i finally was able to get everything connected, i got the settings icon to pull up the settings,,, problem,,, i can't get the screen to scroll down past the personal settings to get to change the time,,,,,,

Got it working on the Quest 2, but I think that it's quite buggy. If you don't see the settings appear, only screen dimming, reboot the Quest 2 and try again until you see it, it worked one time for me so I could adjust brightness (had a warning of the app maybe not compatible). Though it looks like there are only 2 settings lol : 100% at max, or like 70-80% no matter where you stop, but it's better than 100% lol, thx for the tip.
Do you think there will be an option to increase the resfresh rate to 90hz of the display using the Android APK settings? Maybe loading Linux on the device?
I know the displays can do 90hz, but I think you'd have issues running games at that rate and you get a lot of frame drops. You can't change this with the setting either, not sure if there's a 3rd party app the will do it, I'll look into it.

Are you about to go into security section of the settings and put a PIN or pattern lock on your Quest preventing others from using it unless they enter the code?
I didn't try that as I'm not sure it'll show up right when you restart the Quest (probably will, but I don't want to risk having to do a fa tory reset). If you try it let us know how it goes.

EDIT: I found an option for this on a Reddit thread. If you go to More Settings in the Oculus phone app, there's an n option to set unlock pattern similar to Android Phone but in an oculus pattern instead. I just tried it and it works well on default profile.

I have the new icon on my quest 2 but when I click on the setting menu, nothing appears Update : After restarting, it works, I can now access to the menu settings and change the brightness level. Thanks
Needed to revisit this in 2024 but saw it was patched. I bypassed it by directly executing an adb command to adjust the brightness "adb shell settings put system screen_brightness (your value here, 0-255)"
not sure about screen brightness. but you can clear the cashe in the regular oculus settings. no need to jailbreak the device. is this even allowed? or do you void your warrenty by fucking around with shit you have no buisness messing around with?

Everyone seems to want to turn the brightness down on quest but I wanna boost it up a bit. For OLED panels the colors seem a bit muted to me.

The Plex app on your quest did you just side load it?
I did. Works great, although I use skybox to stream my plex content in my house so I can also stream 3D content. Plex is good while traveling though.

I tried and the settings.apk doesn't open in the Oculus TV app sadly.
A good solution is to set the brightness levels with adb commands.

Yes, on the Go the brightness its perfect. You can decrease it to 0 and save battery & eyes..

If you look up at the ceiling then hold the right oculus button to recenter the screen, it will move it up to the ceiling at least out of view.

Try using the setting app, go to storage, then cache and click it to clear cache. Also, clearing boundary history might help.
I get a Safesoide error when I attempt to install the Settings app. Any way around that?

Yeah, it's definitely safe. It was disabled up untill update V12, I suspect oculus is going to add it as a native feature in a future update.

It's at full brightness by default.
