I have replaced the stock air filter made of Paper on my sporthatch with a BMC panel air filter. The only changing I noticed Is the better sound, probably the air comes in better but over that I Can hear like a whistle while running or stopping in the traffic.

It's simple, Car manufacturers want to save money so they go for the cheap paper air filters. Comparing prices of 1 k&n= 2 paper air filters. These paper air filters restrict air because they are mostly stoping debris and other things. K&n relief the restriction of air from having a mesh and foam fiber allowing better air flow with no downfall of blocking debris.
I just bought one of these for my Mini Cooper - the most significant difference was how smooth Take Offs are from Stop. I used to have to give it extra gas to assure I didn't stall - but after the Filter change, it takes off as it should with very little gas.

Buy one, the car is breathing better,sounds better and moves a bit faster. I got a Opel Opc 1.8 on gasoline. I paid for a cone filter with the cleaning stuff 90 bucks.They are perfect.😍

Just Subbed.....i put in an AEM Dry filter.....which means it doesnt need to be oiled.....looks exactly like K&N, cuz i think it is made by K&N. If anything it looks nicer and I hear a little more air induction.
Señor Sabata No. The Oil is only made to keep particles in the filtration if you run in dusty or dirty areas. If you stay out of these areas, the very high filtration of the K&N filter should be good enough.
I am interested in installing a K&N in my car and just watched another guy do an install however, he sprayed it with K&N oil before fitting it. Did you do that or is it a different type of filter.

not knocking you putting this aftermarket filter in. have experimented with these myself in the past .although they let air flow more freely, however the downside is they do let more debris through as well (small dust and dirt particles). it's probably fine over a short period of time, but over thousands and thousands of miles especially driving in dusty conditions it can have a detrimental effect on the engine.
OH K and N... over rated Placebo :PNEver a good benchmark to compare a filter that was in use (so it's alitle dirt, even if don't show visualy) to any brand new. The same feel you would have with a new paper filter
Ford puts a lot of money into research, if you think an air filter changes anything, you're naive like I was when I was 18. My KN filter even destroyed my MAF sensor because of the oil in the filter. Just keep the stock one. It's the best :)
Well, i guess all have different opinions. Car definitely feels more responsive and clean in its pull. I can't imagine millions have been put in research of this exact air filter. I have been in motorsport (Karting, racing cars and formula cars) all over Europe from 8 to 16 y/o, and i have never seen a racing car with such a coffee filter intake! I appreciate your opinion, but i guess i will stick to the K&N, as i think it is better than the stock coffee machine :P
Have it your way. MightyCarMods even demonstrated the things I'm saying in regards to the fact that it gives 0 performance, it is just placebo from your side. And I don't have any reason to lie to you about what KN did to my MAF. Just take out your MAF filter, or check your intake piping after 6 months with that in your car, and you will see oil on them. Although I would prefer you not to ruin your car by keeping that thing 6 months on your car. Every OEM part on the car is very thoroughly researched, even that "coffee" air filter is there for a reason. If you think you are outsmarting all the Ford engineers with an air filter, all I can do is laugh.
LoveGod16 Every road car is always limited in different ways, and always performing less that it could do. But to keep the engine and rest of the car intact for the complete warranty period by 100%, it is turned down in performance. I know people having worked in the engine development department at both VW and Mercedes. They all tell me that manufactures always limit their cars at different parameters. Every road car could easily perform 10-20% more, without hurting the engine etc. Just look at the Golf GTI and Golf R - a lot of these drives hundred of thousand of kilometers without any problem, while driving with other intakes and remapped ECUs lifting the turbo pressure. But manufactures just hold them down to be on the safe side. So I don't think Ford spits out the most hardcore motor that is possible. It has been limited at various points. I respect your opinion though, and doesn't laugh about it. The above is just my opinion.
Larry Stewart Why don't you want to understand that KN filters DO HURT? I have nothing to win by lying to you guys. I've had both KN panel and Cone filters, they contaminate the intake and especially the MAF with oil. My MAF eventually died, but in the short run it will cause performance issues. The MAF will be covered in a small layer of oil, and the air intake quantity and temperature of the air will be misread by the ECU, causing misfires under acceleration when engine is cold, and power decrease when engine is hot.
I'm also in the EU and i didn't know it was illegal to swap a simple air filter lol. I think you need to pay an engineer for even the smallest mod to legalize it

Exactly, the air fuel is dessigned to run 14/1. If you put more air in the combustion chamber, you are increasing the temperature and losing power because you did not compensate that extra ammount of air with a reprogramation. Repro (change the parameters of air fuel and the amount inside the engine) With more boost you can burn more fuel but adding more aire.

ur best bet,in my opinion is to take a full intake pipe into ur turbo as those stock pipe are compatible enough for ur hp gains
I just installed My filter and noticed the bangs coming in later in the revs and the pops sounded more aggresive like someone shooting on a gun range

It definitely doesn’t increase 10 hp but it does give 3 to 5 hp more with 2 to 3 torque increase ..

It comes pre oiled if you buy it new. But after you Wash it, it will need to be re oiled.

I have a problem 2018 for focus se. Changed the filter but when parked. I accelerate it wont go pass 4000 rpms. Any idea?

Makes the engine breath alot better, so it improves the efficiency of the engine. Just like it would if you added a new exhaust.
