I had the opportunity of witnessing GREAT WHITE in concert in the group's heyday. First, in late 1989, as the opening act supporting ALICE COOPER's 'Trash Tour'; second, in early 1991, as the opening act supporting SCORPIONS' 'Crazy World Tour'; and thirdly, in late 1992, as the opening act supporting KISS's 'Revenge Tour'. Jack RUSSELL; Mark KENDALL (extremely underrated guitarist); Michael LARDIE; and manager Alan NIVEN made an excellent and talented songwriting team. Long live the great GREAT WHITE. 'Lady Red Light' remains my favourite GREAT WHITE song and guitar solo by Mark KENDALL. Love your passion for music, Brendon! Keep up your excellent work!
In my experience from meeting these bands and asking them to sign albums I usually have something they don’t own and in some cases don’t remember being released even when it’s official. Haha
Jack Russell has a hell of a rock and roll voice. One of my favorite bands. Thanks for that discography on them. You have quite the collection Brendon. Nice work.
A band that I love from the first album. Underrated and little followed by the media, it deserves a place of respect in American hard rock blues bands. With love from Italy
Thanks for this. One of my favorite bands. I highly recommend Sail Away. I call it the broken heart record. Only saw them live once. Played a double co-headline tour with Tesla w/ Badlands opening up..
I attended that 1989 tour, too. All three bands crushed it. One of the greatest of the 200+ gigs I’ve attended over the decades. As an aside, I’d not known about jack’s imprisonment. Unbelievable.
It’s astonishing how many Great White CDs you showed in this video that I not only don’t have, but that I’ve never even seen. Crazy. I’ve got some catching up to do. Great collection.
My favorite band hands down. Truthfully I would never go see them without Jack Russell. I love Mark Kendall but Jack is the heart and soul of the band. His voice made them special.
Terry ILous did an admirable job and was a good fit IMO. Not sure about Mitch Malloy. I hope we get a new album from them soon so I can make a full assessment.
Such a nice video truly showing the complete discography from Great White!!!....this is a vid i can come back too again & again to add certain albums to my collection, thank you!!!
For the longest time I’ve thought about buying a Japanese edition for the original album cover. But I’m glad I waited now that the album is finally being reissues as a 2CD set with the original artwork.
@@BrendonSnyder have you any knowledge of them releasing a reissue of Psycho City with 2 cds. It was issued as a Japanese import but tough to find. I'm interested because it has a version of Somebody to Love by Jefferson Airplane.
I like Psycho City the most. Fantastic album. Anyway I guess Michael Lardie put them on a top songwriting level. And they have excellent covers as well.
You ARE the man, Brendon. Great video on a great band. 👍 💯 Edit #1: on the cusp of 5K scribes; much kudos as well earned/deserved for all the cool content that all rock n roll fans should dig.
If you or anyone else, like Terry Ilous singing, I think he did a great job on the Great White albums gave them a fresh new sound. He also was the voice of XYZ, a fantastic band, also if you go to his website he has like three solo albums. Worth picking up and he signs them directly to you.
Very well-researched discussion on Great White. I was really into the self-titled debut and it still remains my favorite overall album from them. Afterwards, their eventual blues direction didn't quite keep me hooked (if you pardon the pun), but they still had a lot of memorable individual tracks. "Once Bitten Twice Shy" and "Face the Day" are my favorites from them.
I came into the band later during Twice Shy so that’s the style that “hooked” me. But I do also enjoy he debut quite a bit. It’s more raw and heavier than their later more rock releases but it’s still very much them.
Now that THIS IS my alltime favourite band, I gotta say you've done an absolute heartful overview! Thank you, Brendon! Of course I got all of the stuff as well except the Terry Illous records (don't like 'em that much) and the Dante Fox Collection (which I need to order). Adding some singles/maxi-CD's to my collection (with interesting B-Sides not appearing on the CD releases), suoer cool vinyl stuff (Cut Shark Picture Disc), I got the Jack Russell solo album "Always" to this list. Btwe, you'll love the bonus live CD of your new "Hooked" order! Got this and a few others as Japan releases. Always brilliant stuff. Totally love JRGW's band, specially what they did acoustically with the Once bitten songs! Great band w/ Tony Montana and Dicki Fliszar (drums). A circle is closing there for me: my first show was in 1988 when a german band called "VAMP" opened up for White Lion. Dicki counted it in and made me wanting to play drums, too! Then he joined Bruce Dickinson, formed the fantastic british hard rock band "SKIN" and now is playing with my hero Jack Russell :) Also he helped me out for an article I've written for my study work. He's one of a kind. Just like Great White, yeah! Here's my favourites ranked (would love to see your list, of course!) w/out the best ofs and live albums... 1. Hooked 2. Can't get there from here 3. Twice shy 4. Psycho City 5. Once bitten (Acoustic Bites) 6. Once bitten 7. Sail away 8. Shot in the dark 9. He saw it coming 10. Rising 11. Great White 12. Let it rock 13. Back to the rhythm
Outstanding collection. GW has always been my favorite band. By the albums you have I assume you also rank them very high 🤟 Fully agree with that excellent acoustic once bitten. Btw thanks to your videos T ride became one of my most appreciated hard rock bands!
Yes Great White is one of my favorite bands. That’s always why I kept pointing out all the different times I met the band and had them sign things. I love great bands that stay consistent in sound and quality of material and Great White has always done that. Even now with two line-ups.
Fantastic band! Haven't seen them yet with Mitch Malloy fronting, but really love the Jack Russell's Great White lineup, and it's super-cool that they're playing deep cuts such as "Hand on the Trigger" from "Let it Rock". Plus guitarist Robby Lochner is really fun to watch live. 😎🎸🎤🎶
That’s one of my favorite tracks off Let It Rock. Great to hear they’re playing deep cuts and not just the hits. That would make me want to see them live now even more.
Brandon I’d love to see you do one of these collection series videos on Dirty Looks. A lessor known band but they have a large discography and no one else has done it. Thanks
I usually do these videos for bands that have a lot of side projects of offshoot bands to keep it interesting. If I rope on Paul Lidel with Dangerous Toys and the lead singers band Rumble Dog it could work. I’ll give it some more thought and certainly consider it.
@@BrendonSnyder yes and Henrik was in Burning Orange, Paul in Broken Teeth, Adrenaline Factor, 99 Crimes…it might be a good excuse to buy some more cds :)
Had no idea they had such an extensive body of work I always find that an impressive characteristic with bands. Will need to dive in and give Great White a second go round.
Yeah lots of these great 80’s band continued right through the 90’s and into the 2000’s even though most people had forgotten about them. I respect these bands that recorded and made albums just because and didn’t stop because they weren’t selling like they used to.
Great band. Could have been bigger. Psycho City to me is their greatest album achievement from start to finish. High quality songs and their musicianship at an all time high. In terms of favourite songs, I'd have to say the blues extended version of Face The Day on one of the Greatest Hits is just killer. Not their song, but man do they own it. That's the other thing about them..... they had a great knack of doing covers so very well.
I agree regarding covers. They were great at making a song their own. I didn’t realize some of the songs were covers at the time until years later reading liner notes which exposed me to the other bands like The Angels and Ian Hunter.
I didn't know Jack Russel did 8 years in prison, I love GnR and Motley Crue and those guys had the bad boys image but now I'm thinking they had nothing on Jack. Also hope the live in maid recovered okay. Love your channel Brendon😀🎸

For me, in most cases I will side with the version with the singer from the classic lineup, including the 2 you noted. Great White without Jack Russell falls short for me.
Considering I own the albums by both versions of the bands you’re asking, obviously I don’t have an issue with it. Generally the sound of a band for me is the vocalist and will always like that line up better. But if both versions sound like the original band then I’ll enjoy both.
