The more I watch this man, the more I want to watch this man. He reviewed a bike that will be in my garage tuesday. A red '24 gt plus. Looking forward to some long trips in the states. Wanted one of these for a while.
Chopsy makes me smile again! 45 yrs ago (whew!) I spent 3 mos in England in a college program from Ball State Univ in Muncie, Indiana, USA. My girl (and now wife) rented a Mini (the British Leyland version!) and had a ball on some of the same roads I watched you ride in this video. At 21 yrs old I was just old enough at the time to rent a car and I missed having my bike at the time, a '73 Honda 450 Scrambler, there to ride on those roads. We also drove all over Wales and had a ball! Beautiful scenery, great roads and a fantastic visit it was!
Suzuki is always fantastic value price. This bike must be a real blast. I own a SV 650 and is simply a delightful bike. Nobody knows that all Suzuki's are made in Japan... and it makes a big difference.
I went HARLEY shopping today but didn’t buy a bike $$$. I watched this review and I am on a new quest ! Suzuki isn’t a Harley but it is better in so many ways ! I will let you know when I have the SUZUKI in the barn ! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Suzuki just know how to make a beautifully smooth motor and gearbox. I must admit, I wasn’t immediately excited when I clocked it at the bike show, as it all looked rather plastic. I do love the screen, map integration and cruise control.
Also a decent service interval, for higher mileage riders. Is Kawasaki still 4k miles? 🤢 But less mpg than my Superduke ain't so great, particularly now
I've seen other reviews of this bike , launch ones I think , and all those reviewers praised it . Suzuki have hit the sweet spot I think with this one it seems . GT or Sports tourers are the best all-round bike IMHO , if you can only afford 1 bike or only got space at home for just 1 then this is the way to go . And those little neg niggles would be because A) your size and B) you weren't 100% used to the bike , stuff you would adapt the bike for or just get used to over time with use . Make a good cop bike or other emergency services . Good real world review Chopsy nice one .
I got to say it Chops that you nail these bike reviews every time.....Honest opinions , great cinematic footage and soundtracks...all very proffesional. Awesome going mate 👍🙂
Cheers from Alaska chops, spot on review as always. I have 2000 miles on my GT so far, great bike along with its stablemate MT-10. They complement each other perfectly for the type of ride I want. MT if I want to get rowdy and the GT if I want mellower but can still do the business in the twists. Running a S22r Bridge in a 55 rear profile. Helps turn in and gears it up a bit. SBS RST compound front brake pads will be on it asap which are supposed to be night and day from stockers. Made a huge difference on my MT.
A real big thank from thousands of miles away, I have found every answers to the questions on my mind and felt very lucky to find this bike review. Thank you from 2023!
Yeah, let's see this with a bit of track action thrown in to the mix. Road tour, stop at a track day, Ditch the panniers, have a hoon round, continue the tour and head home! 😎👍😁👌
Built to a budget but superb value. Comparing its brakes, IMU etc to much more expensive bikes is perhaps harsh but absolutely right to point out where costs have been saved. 👍
I think the Kawasaki is a better buy, on paper atleast: - Remote preload - Adjustable windshield - IMU & Cornering ABS - Cheaper (in Canada) - More aftermarket support - Used bikes actually exist - Better looking (imo)
No adjustable windscreen, no remote preload adjuster for rear shock, no lean sensitive ABS, geared too short. Suzuki adresses these things and it's a winner for me.
@@josephparry just done some research mate & found out the K5-K6 are the same engine. The K7-K8 is basically the same engine but different exhaust & larger throttle bodies. Ride safe
Been watching a lot of your reviews and love how thorough they are with taking the bikes through normal road conditions and long rides. Would absolutely love a comparison with the Ninja 1000 SX; I'm looking at both the Suzuki GT and the Ninja for a new bike and am curious about the differences.
I have been banging on for years to anyone daft enough to listen, the virtues of GTs over adventure bikes, I have owned the Kawasaki Z1000sx and currently the Ducati Supersport with panniers, so not surprisingly love the look of the Suzuki. Cheers Choppsy.
I see what you're saying lads... but I'd expect adventure bikes to have the edge on b roads. I can see that a GT is going to be better suited to faster A roads but B roads often have very poor surfaces.
Great review. Have looked at this bike and would be pretty torn between this and an SX. A comparison video as clear as this one would be great. Looks like a fantastic ride, can't bring myself to like adventure bikes so nice to see this segment still alive!
I love my Triumph Street Triple R (which I bought last July) but this is more inline with what I originally wanted. The Triple is a good commuter but gets uncomfortable on long rides. This might be a contender for a trade it. Plus my wife might actually ride this lol
I've been riding for over 40 years and have never owned a bike with a fairing. I have had a go on a few mates bikes and found them really uncomfortable and to be honest they all look the same to me, no character but they were all full on sports bikes. As I approach 60 I think maybe I should revisit with a sports tourer. This could be my first step into the fairing bike world. I have owned quite a few Suzuki's and always found them very good and reliable.
I had a GSXR1000 and put flat bars on it, almost identical riding position to the GSXS1000, but with more power, also very comfy, you can raise the standard screen with a cpl 1-2cm spacers
Thanks for the review Chopsy. Really enjoying the day trip format as you get a good mix of riding in over the course of the day. I’ll vote for a comparison with the Kawasaki - always like the Performance Tourer, a more affordable H2 SX style bike.
thanks again for the excellent and hilarious review, that gixxer sound is impeccable, always thought the gixxer made a great sports tourer, nice little change up too, well done Suzuki
By the way, we like to support you more, We are just wondering if you guys want us to send you free sunglasses? I did send you some emails for detail. We hope you might like them.
That location with the drone footage is so beautiful. I don't know how you can just leave after a long ride there. And then I remember Oh what fun it is to ride and I understand you lol. Thanks for that review Chopsie!
Just a thought on the windscreen design, if one watches the "official" promo videos on the R&D process for this bike from Suzuki, you'll notice that in the wind tunnel shots the rider is pretty short and in a more tucked position so the aerodynamic design is pretty much set up for those parameters. For those of us Asians that are over 6 feet tall, the touring screen is a much better option, I sourced mine from Suzuki which is 7 cm taller and about the same wider, and still ended up using the Puig visor I got for the stock screen. I still get good airflow through the bottom vent and can adjust the Puig in warmer weather to get air hitting the vents in my helmet.
I used the map function on my phone last week and nearly used all the power in 2 hours, either need it connected to bike or a power pack if using it for a longer ride.
just watched moore mafia tune one of these with the loudest brocks exhaust ever. they got 149bhp in the end 134 at the start. yours seemed fast enough. great vid.
I’ve had my bandit from new 2016,this is a really serious contender as a replacement, what a bike, wish I hadn’t seen this now chopsy, think if your review was on a black one I’d been in dept.🤣 Great video John.
I saw mcn compare this with the Ninja 1000sx and conclude the Kawasaki was better in most areas but as the owner of a 2019 1000SX I wonder if this would be more or less on a par with my bike instead? Great review and looking forward to a comparison test with the Ninja
I love your bike reviews, I am trying to decide on this bike or the naked s1000. Probably going with the GT. Is the brake feel fixable with better pads?
I was at the dealers last week, because I'm looking at getting one of these bikes, John. Do you think changing the pads would help with the brakes? I spoke to a Suzuki mechanic while I was getting my bike serviced, and he said it makes a big difference. I'm looking at booking a demo soon, I'm itching to test out that K5 engine!
Hi Just discovered this bike recently ,your jacket looks very coo and practical…is it good for hot weather 34 degrees. Plus .? Great. Video. Have a Versys 650 it’s longer suspension travel soaks up the potholes , that is also where adventure bikes shine also , not just off road , but bad bitumen.
I wanted either the one of the non gt gsxs 1000 variants or the mt09. Strangely wasn't having great luck getting a good deal on a gsxs 1000 so got a 2021 mt09. Wish I could have rode a 1000 tho. Never had a liter bike and wondered what it was like. Gearing down my mt09 and only ride on highways so maybe I wouldn't even notice the difference (put over 5000 miles on stock gearing, always feel bikes are geared too high in my opinion and I only ride for fun not gas mileage)
Great stuff, love the slightly longer vid with a combination of review and a bit of "travelogue " 😉. Was certainly a great day for a ride, lovely to see some blue sky!
hi now done 400 miles on the suzuki fantastic bike 2 things though 1 brakes are good but do lack feel as mentioned and number 2 gearing could be lower in top say by 500 revs this bike hardly needs a gearbox it pulls from anywhere on the dial
Thank you for giving some insight. As I looked at the bike I was trying to decide if the bike was small or you are a large man. Now, I know it's the latter.
One question please, how is the torgue? Do you have it to rev it alot to get some torgue? I m asking because now i own a bandit 1250S and i m thinkng to change (after 14 years being happy with the bandit) to this bike but I m afraid that I will have to rev it alot to get some descent torgue that I was getting from my bandit at very low revs. Wonderful review!

Great review, thanks for the extensive video and noting what isn't perfect at this stage as well. I can't wait for this bike to get to the USA, seriously considering it for my next bike. Very glad to see a return of the Sports Touring segment!
Thanks for another great review Chops! As much as I love Yamaha's torquey tripple, this is a significant upgrade in all respects from my Tracer so I ordered one in February with the taller windshield and panniers. With supply issues here in Canada I'm still waiting for it but I have no doubt based on all the comments and reviews that it's a very good bike for the money.
Great review, lettings us know whats real life important. Test rode one this morning and the thing that suprised me most is how easy / well mannered this is at lower speeds. Expected it to be very quick and capable but did not expect it to be so intuitive and easy around town, think i might have found my next bike. Thanks for your help! 👍🏻🙌👊
Another great vid Chopsy. Can't believe the route the satnav gave you after Corfe Castle (I live in Swanage) sending you down the narrow lanes 😳😳 2021 Ninja 1000sx owner 😁
I have a 2018 S 1000 F I also recently picked up a R 1200 RT BMW even though it is a BMW the ultimate riding machine the S 1000 F honestly still better bike more comfortable but I’d like to have all those driver aids that the S 1000 GT’s got cruise control I could do without the heated grips but it’s a nice option the box is definitely a plus
Hey, amigo! As a lad of similar heft to yourself, how's she compare in size to, say, a Kawasaki Concours 14? I'd imagine the Suzuki isn't quite nearly as large? Thanks! Great video.
Hey Lamb Chop i love the bike but two years ago i had a knee replacement and sitting on it at the dealers makes my knee uncomfortable , any suggestions where i can buy something that lowers the pegs and bring them forward for this bike , it seems a shame i can't buy one at the moment till i know i can do the modification
Great review, speaking to my local dealer they can’t get a demo version of this bike because Suzuki haven’t got any, and the lead time if you order one is June or later. It would have been nice to see how the luggage clips on and off, some bikes look horrendous when the panniers are off exposing ugly framework.
Got the 2018 f with a cat delete and tune... plenty of fun. That cruise control would be perfect! And now someone is saying the kawi is better... hmmm.
Hm...i was about to suggest that it should have usb charging in one of the cases (via contacts at mount point), then i remembered back when the tourers from the 80s-90s had the locking bins built into the front fairings...maybe one of those for stowed charging? I'd like to see a comparison of all the bike BT-connected systems.
Hi Lamb Chop! I'm the guy who lives in s/w France & Spain now on my 5th superduke who keeps on trying to get you down to these here parts. So my local Ktm/Ducati dealer told me that Fogarty as in Carl & Michaela are coming down to visit us for a weekend in April & we are going to spend an evening with them, have dinner with them & Carl is going to sign the V4 Fogarty replica. So if you can try & come down. ps I think Suzuki have a winner here.

1. What can be done to fix the brake feel?
2. What tires would you get for street riding?

Another great vid Chopsy. Can't believe the route the satnav gave you after Corfe Castle (I live in Swanage) sending you down the narrow lanes 😳😳

Another great review Chops, yeah looking like a real good bike and a strong contender.
How is it in comparison to the Kawa SX1000? Could you please do a comparison test? Thanks 😊
So would you recommend this or setting up a Super Duke R for sport touring?
Hi Chopsy would you prefer this or the Bmw r1250rs?. Great video btw
Panniers detached very easy, one hand! But bike does look odd a little bit without them
Got the 2018 f with a cat delete and tune... plenty of fun.
Thanks for the invite Gary 👍
