    It WORKED, I knew to use an air hammer and heat but never thought of heat and water. You saved my wheel and now a subscribe. Must have watched a dozen other videos and my next move was to cut the wheel off.

    I have watched a lot of your videos. Each one is like a master class in mechanics. Only from a common sense point of view. You don't always have to scrap the good parts or throw away parts and assemblies which could be fixed with basic knowledge. Almost like the lost art of blacksmiths. My dad used to take things to the blacksmith to get repaired that I could hardly believe came home fixed better than ever. Years of experience and listening to the old teachers is how you got so darn smart.

    I've used the same trick for bleeder screws on brake calipers. (I live in Michigan where they salt the roads so bleeders rust up quick.) Works every time perfect, I heat the bleeder and surrounding iron about orange then quench with water and take it out with vise grips then I just put in a new bleeder if I need.

    If you got the rims with the wheel weight Holes...i've got rusty wheels like that off by jacking the tractor wheels off the ground & lean it to the opposite side of the jack.... Spray Good O'l Liquid wrench down the shaft..spin the wheel slowly (so the penetrating oil spirals down the inside of the rusty o'l rim & shaft) & let it sit overnight . Then connect your wheel puller Bolts to the tire rim thru the wheel weight Holes on the Rim turn your center bolt on to the axle. & Presto-change-o... There's Your Dinner.. No Damage to the rim either..

    To take off a belt - Walk it off. To remove a bolt - Walk it off. To simmer down (anger management) - Walk it off. To get rid of a hard on - Walk it off. To reduce pain - Walk it off! That's your answer most of the time, bro! You sound like my coach or Dad!
    - I had a new lawnmower tire, got a leak in it in 1 week. Took it to a shop to repair. But they said I needed a new tire (another one), because it was a sidewall leak and not "safe" to repair. I wish I had a recording of you saying, it's a lawnmower, not the space shuttle! Bet I don't go over 15mph - and it was a slow leak. So slow, I could leap off the lawnmower in slow motion, hit the ground, roll over, and make a sandwich, and the tire would still have some air in it and not be flat yet. Sounds like your next episode. How is an attempted sidewall repair unsafe??? Who's the dummy?

    That's the perfect way to do it BUT, what if I don't have a set of torches or a air hammer ? I've been spraying some penetrating oil for 2 weeks now, "nuffin"...The only torch I have is MAP gas. Not enough to bring the rim to cherry red.

    When things heat up they expand, So basically you want to heat up outer edge and NOT the bolt. Take two identical smooth plastic cups, Put one inside the other. And fill it up with hot water, run cold water on the outer cup for a few seconds. Empty the hot water, and then try to separate the cups. The cups should be locked together..... To get them apart, run cold water in the inner cup or run hot water on the outer cup. Same physics is happening when your heating it up to get it "unstuck"... In the video when he puts cold water on it, this could change the strength of the metal, and cause it to become brittle which will cause it to fail. just heat up the rim and try to keep the bolt as cool as possible. letting the "rim/block" expand, then try backing it out. If it still wont go. you can try dribbling water on the bolt itself to cool it off, which will cause it to shrink.

    • @jhitt79
      @jhitt79 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      ntlgnce thank you mr. wizard but what he's doing is heating and cooling quick to bust the rust bond. He's not keeping the rim hot for the expansion. If you were to be putting a press fit bearing on a shaft then it would make sense to heat the bearing, cool the shaft. The bearing will slide on easily. But he's not doing that here. Again, he's breaking the rust bond.
