I love your proposition to use frustration as a vehicle for introspection. So it's like your playing experience becomes a meditation of sorts. This also reminds me of one of the arguments in the whole "game difficulty" discussion, where some people said that hard game made them better person by teaching them to deal with failure in their lives.

Hey there, thanks for sharing. Yeah, it's totally how you want to spin things. There's an ocean of potential to be tapped into depending on how we align our perspectives, attitudes, etc. Thank you for checking this out.

great interview! Nice topics and advice! While I do enjoy just doing standard runs, whenever I dive deeper and do training modes or Save States practice, thats when I really learn a lot and get better at the game which gives me that extra oomph to get the 1cc. The M2 training modes for Darius Cozmic Collection and G-Darius were vital to my success with those games. I also love using the Arcade challenge modes in the M2STG releases, which are basically built-in save states, they gamify the whole practice experience.

Glad you enjoyed this one! It was definitely a fun one to dig into even though each of these topics could easily have their own standalone talk. Some of these I'm actually aiming to do more with, but we'll see when they pan out!

Thanks for doing yet another great chat! Maz dedication towards Ikaruga is great as well as his way to understand the game and gradually increasing the goals he wants to achieve.
Also establishing a mindset where you accept failure as resource for learning and improvement is great. This advice can’t be repeated enough.

Yay! I'm all caught up now. I've been working my way through the talks from old to new. Loving the sense of growth, community, and positive vibes you all exude. Just starting to get into the genre a little more seriously and this has been a great resource for reflection and inspiration. Looking forward to whatever comes next.
