I love your playing. Beautiful chords! It’s a joy to hear you play. And, this incredible keyboard sound. Wow! I have returned to this video several times. Because of your demo, I ordered a PC4 today for our church. Now all we need is to open the box and you’d be inside also. Great playing!
I am a very serious admirer of Kurzweil products. Last year I purchased the PC for, because I like all the features that I heard and saw demonstrated. I am not disappointed, I recommend it, and I hope you will enjoy it if you get it.
"you might get lost into the strings"... true. switching patches seamlessly is a dream on that machine. not into church/worship but can see easily how this must work wonderfully there great demo!
Fantastic presentation! Thanks so very much, cause now I know what I have been waiting for, all my life. Nothing to my knowledge, can surpass this!! It's a must have, for me! Thanks again ❣️
Very well done. Thanks. I am a Nord guy now on my second Nord Piano. Had a "2" and now have a "5". The Piano 2 replaced my second Kurzweil back in 2014. Kurzweil was not up to the realism of the Nord acoustic pianos back then, string resonance and all. The Piano 5 is truly spectacular with the many improvements since the 2. But now on our worship team we need a second board for pads, strings, etc.. I got the nod for this new capability. So I have sorted through a bunch of synths without finding one that I really like. And suddenly the PC4 comes up on my radar. Yes. I am in the wait queue for the PC4-7, and from what I have heard in the many comparisons with other boards, the Kurzweil has all of the ones especially in this price range beat. Cannot say for sure the Kurzweil acoustic pianos will beat those of the Nord Piano 5, but I'll bet they will be darn close and the synth capability of the Kurzweil with editing is what I am after.
Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Back in the day Kurzweil keyboards were known for their “realistic” sound patches - pianos, string/orchestral, and even organs. The technology was also far advanced. I’m not sure what happened, it’s almost like after the K2600 series they got too comfortable with their status and then just coasted for the next decade or so. (Maybe the changing of ownership with Young Chan had a role in some of that 🤷♂️) Either way eventually everyone else caught up to them and then Nord stepped into that “most realistic piano” spot. I give credit to Nord for their great pianos. Once Kurzweil came back around with the Artis and Forte series, I personally prefer that German Grand sample on those. I’m not sure what it is but the PC4 and K2700 piano is almost like a watered down version of that same one as the Forte series though. I’ll be doing a future video comparing pianos. Sorry for the long comment but I can go on about keyboard pianos 😂
You should check out the comparison of the Nord stage 4 vs the kurzweil pc4, I think you’ll it up to par with the Nord and it’s $2700 cheaper, I know the Nord doesn’t sound $2700 better than the kurzweil
It is funny to see you know less about the internals and MIDI and sound design and such, but you play the piano so well and you make these sounds really shine, love it! I am the opposite but would rather trade places. Loving my PC4 forever.
LOL yeah thanks. I'm not much of a "keyboard" guy - as in I don't play around much with keyboard sounds. I'd rather sit down with a nice piano patch and spend my time noodling around on the piano.... Also why I love the Kurzweil keyboards with that nice Steinway piano program.
I read somewhere that Kurzweils piano was the most realistic sampled piano. I got the K2600 xs and that concert piano is to die for, it also has another one called orchestral piano which, is great for sad and romantic songs.
I have a question if you can help me... I own a pc4 SE. ¿ what is the limitation of not having 2 GB of sample memory just like the PC4? I was told, I would not be able to load user sound from a USB stick to my piano but I recently did it with a FM piano a found on a piano forum... so I am confused.
Kurzweil seemed to have all the controls I wanted in a keyboard but I didn’t see an audio interface built in. That was my major reserve as I kinda like all in one keyboards. Nice board though.
@@sharingmatters It allow the audio from the keyboard in built sounds and also mics or guitars you plug into the keyboard to go directly to your computer. You can technically buy a separate audio interface to get mic, guitar, or other instruments sounds into your PC/Tablet but it adds extra things you need to keep up with when dealing with audio routing on your computers software. With the audio interface built in I can just plug my keyboard into the computer and hear all sounds from the computer and other instruments through the keyboard’s headphone jack.
Hey yeah so most of what I was playing was just improv. I learned to play by ear in church and overtime develop my own chord progressions and what not. I did play a couple small excerpts from Elevation worship songs when I was talking about reverb. Other than that it wasn’t any particular song just improv
What's good bro? I finally picked up the PC4. Just came in Tuesday. Haven't had much time on it because of work, but I'm really liking it so far. It actually offers a lot.
Seriously considering this keyboard for worship due to the nice pianos and incredible strings but I am concerned about the keybed. Is it too soft/flimsy for piano playing? My point is like having such a big keyboard mainly because of the weighted 88 keys, it should be at least a sensitive and dynamic key to be able to play those moments while people are talking. I am used to Roland´s heavy hammer key and I love them, reason why I am concerned. What is your feeling about it?
Hello. Although I do prefer the heavy action on newer Roland keyboards, the PC4 is not bad. I actually did another video just on the action of the keyboard.
@@heavenlysounds6362 Thanks. I had a PC88 20 years back and the keys were decent, not perfect. they might be similar to the PC4. I will give it a try. Cheers
Hello. Yes for sure! The 2700 is definitely an upgrade from the PC4. There is a drawback. The PC4 is very light and portable. The 2700 is not lightweight. The PC4 is also very capable for just about anything. The 2700 is the future but it’s built pretty heavy.
You got that right, most keyboard players don’t have a clue to what they’re capable of in sound creation, they’re only limited by the user’s imagination
Thank you for this video! It's extremely helpful! It is a nice keyboard. I have one question, tho? Do you have any idea what year this model was released?
@@heavenlysounds6362 Well, actually your demonstration and review made me purchase this keyboard. 💁🏻♀️ After long consideration and debates between other keyboards within this price range such as (MODX, Fantom 0, and Korg SV2) the ultimate winner for me was Kurzweil PC4 for its great piano sounds, pads, knobs, sliders, and key action. @@maggie.petkova Wow! That’s nice to hear. Kurzweil sounds are definitely far above those other brands. As far as MIDI controller, it should work just as well as the other brands. It has both USB and standard MIDI connections, although I haven’t used it for that. The latest thing I’ve learned about it has to do with changing the action. (Global-main2-velocity map.) It’s really cool. I’ll be doing a vid about that soon. I may also do a vid on the organs (as that deserves it’s own video). It’s a great keyboard for creating unique sound patches. The thing that scares me is that it dont have an internal power supply. Honestly, i had lightning strike my mp7se, today leaving it dead, it struck the power supply. But i feel it is less likely to happen on a kurzweil.
How is the action to you? I bought one of these set it up and up half of the keyboard would not make sound. And there were velocity issues on the lower half that was working or making sound. I question that Madeli key bed. What is your opinion. The keyboard does sound awesome! Thank you!
Sounds like maybe you got a keyboard that was bad out the box. I haven’t had any of those issues. The action itself is very good, however I did make a global adjustment to the keys. There are settings you can adjust. (I have another video on that)

The only thing lacking is a larger screen to make sequencing and editing easier.

64 is 1/2 of 128 - that is why 64 is mid-pan point. midi range of values is 0-127 = 128 values /2 = 64
Can MIDI OUT be used as MIDI THRU? How to set it in the instrument? Regards ;)
