i have a MacBook Pro 16- in (M2 Max, 2023) . . . if i was to use the CFexpress Type A 160GB Memory Card, with the Sony FX30 Camera, would i need a USB-C adapter to get files off the memory card, onto the MacBook Pro 16- in (M2 Max, 2023) ?
I think you can also plug the camera directly to the PC with a type-c cable
I bought a cfexpress 160gb and a 128gb v60 as a backup. I have everything i need for my fx30 but my fx30 😭🤣 why can’t Aug come sooner?

To anyone who wants to save a buck, you can shoot 120fps with a v60 card as long as its not all intra obviously :)
Correct! This videos a little dated, some of the firmware I’m sure changed these results
I can actually shoot up to 4k 60 in xavc s using the v30 cards.

@@KofiYeboah I actually tried out v60 and it allowed up to 120fps. And the V90 allowed xavc si up to 60fps.
Me to. I’m able to shoot in 4K 60 XAVC S as well with the v30 card. But I will be upgrading.
me too. except its on 4:2:0 8 bit in order to playback on quick time player.
I bought a CFexpress type A card because I thought it would let me record XAVC S-I HD at 120p, only gives me the option of 60p, same as my v90.

v90 cards do 4k120 just fine, wtf are you talking about. The only difference with sfexpress are the read write speeds which literally don't matter that much unless you buy a crazy expensive adapter and have a 3.2usb port on your computer.

Though you didn't mention anything about the codec differences when it comes to colour. So if I know it right with V90s you get 10bit codec but with the V60s you get 8bit codec. And I'm wondering as a videographer coming from a6500 which only has 8bit codec, do I save money on the card buying the V60s to get the same bits as my old a6500 or do I go full in to the V90s in order to get the most out of the colour of a camera that costed almost 2500€?
Please correct me if I'm wrong.
never hard of such a thing. I've been recording 10 bit 400mbs on v60s for a while and I have never had any problems.

Not exactly, some cards the camera won’t let you record in :(
@@KofiYeboah what I mean is I can record up to 4k60 hs in both my sandisk v30 and Sony v60 sd card. The v60 doesn’t give me any noticeable performance boost. It seems like there’s only v10,v30 and v90 when it comes to improvement in recording performance for the fx30 in my experience.
V90 will specifically allow you to record in the codec that shoots 4K 120 slow mo in 10-bit instead of the 8-bit 4K 120 codec ur limited to with slower cards. CF express is pretty much everything v90 will offer just with really fast read/write speeds
V30 cards can do a lot more, don't make spend more money than they should.

Under 3.0 firmware updated, my FX30 can shoot 4k 60p 4:2:0 8 bit 150mbps, with a sandisk extreme pro v30, no 4:2:2 10 bit 200mbps😢

@@KofiYeboah I resolved the issue! You can shoot 4k xavc-s 10 bit videos (200mbps) with v30, turning off proxy! I tested it today

I can shoot 4k 120fps with a v90 card as well as being able to shoot in all s&q framerates, but have seen multiple people on youtube say you can't. Am I just lucky? lol
I think it’s one of those “you can do it, but at your own risk” kinda things 😅 it might not stop you, but if it messes up, it’s not on Sony

If it works, you should be fine ! This was just a quick guide (and based on some of the charts I’ve seen on card recos consolidated) did you reduce your bit rate to get it to work ?
@@KofiYeboah no 100mb highest bitrate on xavc S. But honestly I think I saw few skipped frames in my fottage. I'm not anything sure about if it was due to card.. Or even it was skipped or It was just jittering.

@@jaskaranbains i also use v30 cards, skiped frames does not work, the camera would stop recording and not continue.

V90 lets me record 120fps

This guide is wrong 😭 the v90 card shoots all the same modes as cf express, and I have the fx3 and a6700. V60 can shoot up to 120fps 4K in the xavc-s and xavc-hs codec. The a6700 does not support type a cards but can shoot all the same modes as my fx3 both with a v90 card.

@@KofiYeboah please in the interest of upcoming videographers who are looking for guidance, please revise this. To avoid unnecessary spending and confusion. Actually test the cards yourself and redo this. Also the v30 card shoots 4K up to 60fps on xavc-h and hs. Your guide is just one tier off. Your explanation of the v60 is actually the v30, your explanation of the v90 is for the v60.
