I have been running my aliengear rapid for level 3 exclusively in USPSA for about 18 months now and at my peak I was consistently under a 1.1s accurate first shot during matches. With predictive shooting during practice being under a second. Now I havent been practicing as much lately and was down to 1.3-1.5s accurate first shot at the match I shot yesterday, with most stages having the first target being 5-15 yards out. Its definitely a perishable skill that needs consistent and honest practice.
I guarantee you if it was not a uspsa match you can get a sub second draw to first shot. Try it on a range at 7 yards. Uspsa isn’t the most draw time heavy sport mainly about the balance of speed and accuracy.
Alien gear holsters need to make a rapid duty holster for staccato. Mojo is using the same rapid duty holster like me. It’s a rapid duty holster v3 for a glock 17, but alien gear needs to make this for staccato
Still waiting for Alien Gear to get to work on their Rapid Force holster for the M&P9 2.0. Safariland you too with the new SafariVault holster. I know you have people watching Mojo demo your products and you must read the comments. If you don't y'all are lame!
yes, you can argue with them since you are faster than anyone else, I have seen drawing from those. You also need to talk about where you have the holster on your leg, I learn that makes it easier to draw as well.
One thing that definitely caught my attention is around the 7:50 mark. Definitely curious on the topic of when should you disengage the manual safety when drawing and presenting the gun. This adds another layer of thumb movement to the equation on top of the two levers to defeat when working with a level 3 holster.
This is exactly the same way I have been drawing and telling others to draw with our issued Safariland Level III holsters for our P320’s for the past 5-6 years. Although I’m nowhere near your drawspeed.
Since last year i tried out a lvl 2 holster. And what i found having the holster slightly forward of the traditional 3 o clock. Helps a lot with a smoother draw and taking off the sls hood. Because my natural relaxed hand position falls more that way. I also found that with my big hands and fingers. Using a flat thumb makes it a bit harder to get rid of the sls. Because the meaty part of my thumb when its flat kind of grabs on to it i feel like. When either trying to push it down or when i try to pull the pistol out. I found having my thumb act like its pointed to the ground works best. And in combination of having the holster at like 2 o clock. Naturally i go more for the back end of the shelf and makes sls go down smoother and quicker.

Doesn't the re-opening the hood add a step? Say, transitioning from the pistol to non-lethal (taser, baton, OC)? I haven't seen any training that uses that school of thought.
I think he means if the hood closes during a scuffle or accidentally. The feature here is that you can re open it quickly if you need to holster, IF the hood got moved back

Honest question…..During your draws, you missed one. Should the draw be more methodical and deliberate? Is going that fast inducing the chance of failure? It seems all conditions need to be perfect and that may not be the case. Not being adversarial, just an honest question.
Generally speaking, for most things you should be training to the point of failure, identifying the failure, and then fixing it. He didn't talk through it, but he probably knows exactly where he went wrong and made mental note of it. Here, he's specifically isolating on the making the draw as fast and efficient as possible, and that means pushing. If you watch other videos where over shooting fast (or whatever) is the driving goal, his draw is slightly slower and more consistent. With that, it's important not to reward failure. Notice that he stopped and reset instead of pushing through a bad draw. This is especially important with training like this because getting to break the shot (even dry) is where the "success" dopamine kicks in and your brain locks in what you subconsciously learned from that rep.

My concern with the alien gear is that the hood comes down on its own with just the push of the button, rather than having to drive it down like the safariland. Defeats the purpose of the hood if it comes down on its own if you just push the button.
This is similar to using a holster with a retention that racks the slide upon drawing. Do you see how fast he drew that weapon? Your "one in the pipe" guys imagine that they will be in a quick draw gun fight and not have enough time to rack the slide before deploying the weapon. It is all in training.
Why would you ever throw the the hood back over the holster once you drew the gun? What is the point of that feature for anyone, especially LE?!? You obviously don't use it when in all your training videos!
@@yeredfarias7662 Well he didn't say that at all and he made it sound like it was SOP to train to assume the hood came back over the holster. Maybe it is! I'm not LE, nor do I run L3 holsters or need to. Just trying to understand the reason for what actually does seem to be the SOP of "popping" the hood back in order to reholster the firearm
@Skees5 yea he kinda said it but not exactly. What can happen is that during a fight or whatever, the hood can come back and close. So if you were wanting to re holster after that, you can use the light bezel to pop that hood back open, rather than reaching over with your other arm, or how he showed using his thumb with his gun hand which is a little slower. Not an sop, just a tip
