Fun fact about the Nouvelles deck : The Monster Zones are meant to represent the Restaurent floor and the Spell and Traps Zones is your kitchen. You play your Recipes and want your chefs in the backrow and your dishes up front, but when your opponent is dissatisfied with their meal and set their monsters in defense, the chef can step up to handle things personally before returning to the kitchen. Meanwhile, if you fail to serve the next course in this six-course meal, your opponent gets to smack you for failing to keep up.
Another thing I like to add to this comment is that the reason all of the monsters have stars on their body, is because they represent a "Michelin star" and according to their official page: A Michelin Star is awarded to restaurants offering outstanding cooking. We take into account five universal criteria: the quality of the ingredients, the harmony of flavours, the mastery of techniques, the personality of the chef as expressed through their cuisine and, just as importantly, consistency both across the entire menu and over time.
The fact that Konami unironically printed Hungry Burger support in the year of our lord 2023 is genuinely amazing. Most unexpected possible legacy support to close out Series 11.
I mean, they have been either printing Archetypal support for old cards or reprinting old cards as new archetypes, like with Memento. I for one will be creating a Nouvellez deck
As a French, I feel honored that Konami created an archetype based around our gastronomy, and the fact that a lot of the cards have their name in French is just the cherry on top
my only regret, and I'm pretty sure almost everyone else talking about it plays it up for comedy, is that I can frequently struggle to pronounce these properly... I at least have some inclination because I know someone who went to culinary school, and the number 1 rule is also a french phrase. "Mise En Place"
On the topic of food related cards, my favorite thing I’ve seen recently from Yu-Gi-Oh is that they finally made a Mystic Potato card to go with Mystic Tomato after 20 years
A fun thing: the demons referenced for the names are correctly ordered according to their rank in the Ars Goetia. Buer, Foras, Botis and Glasya-Labolas are all lower-ranking Presidents, whereas Balam and Baal/Bael are higher-ranking Kings. The art is also spot on as well! Buer is described as having five goat legs arranged round his body (which the lil demon guy seems to have), Botis has big teeth and two horns when assuming a human form, Glasya-Labolas is a winged dog kind of thing, and Baal/Bael is a big toad-cat-human hybrid. A lot of creative effort was obviously put into these!

I've been having fun with this archetype ever since it arived in Master Duel and the fact that it beats over Blue-Eyes Chaos MAX Dragon has made the current Ritual event a lot of fun, as well as helps deal with some of the more...annoying decks to duel against (bloody Kashtira) As for lore, I'm going to assume that somewhere down the line some cultists hid their version of the Ars Goetia in coded recipes and claimed to be chefs, possibly trying to secretly summon demons. However they wound up both enjoying and being such a sucsessful resturant they dropped their planned mass summoning and just focused on their 'cover', with the demons not minding since I guess eating the food made at Nouvelles imparts a little bit of soul energy or something to the demon whose coded 'recipe' became that dish, and the demons subsequently thought 'why bother fighting and killing for a lot of souls for a short amount of time when we can have a decent supply that lasts a lot longer With maybe the demons having a bit of competitiveness, making sure their dish tastes the best on the menu so they get the majority of souls/energy. Edit: As for the possible Patisciel archetype, maybe a rival bakery prayed for help against Nouvelles and the heavens answered, noticing the demonic influence and decided to fight fire with fire...or in this case, infused food with infused food, with probably some of the various ranks of angels like the Powers or Principalities becoming tasty baked goods. The Nouvelles fish chef, who's main dish seems to be a fusion of Taiyaki and possibly crepes might have formerly worked with Patisciel but quit and 'fell' to Nouvelles, hence why she's a fairy.

My theory on the Ritual Monsters is that they possess the food upon being summoned. So it would look like regular food is moving and attacking on it's own. It would also imply that Hungry Burger is another Goetia demon that's possessing food.
The Master Duel Ritual event has made me love both this archetype and the Libromancers. I hope he'll cover them next. They're one of my favorite "new" archetypes, alongside Magikey.
They remind me a lot of Shokugeki no Soma, especially the female chef. She looks almost identical to Erina Nakiri. The same way the Dragonmaids were inspired by Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid.
I never knew this archetype existed until now and I have to say that it’s a really cool archetype as I also like how they’re based off recipes plus cooking style. I would like to see Konami do a lore for this archetype since it would definitely be interesting
This is something I love about Yu-Gi-Oh and how many archetypes there are and it basically transcends time. You can have archetypes based on ancient spirits, demons, dragons, you can equally have archetypes based around real or mystical animals, and you can just have stuff like this which is based on a restaurant aha.
-Nachos for teeth? 1:14 Hope they aren’t facing up when you take a bite I like that some of the Master duel footage has a food board and a sushi to the left -I kind of want the lore to be that the demon summoning upon opening the food is just a gimmick. As the saying goes “food tastes better when you eat with someone.” This could also be me just hoping that for all the demons and monsters, the place genuinely wants to serve, much like this “Restaurant to another world” which this video shows a scene of at 8:55 This could also be beneficial for the demons as well. As maybe the demon could absorb the eater’s essence/soul harmlessly as they eat, both by not being too forceful and having chill conversations and from the customer being so enticed by the food.
Huh what do you know an Archetype in Yugioh that not only teaches you about French cooking techniques and foods, but helps out the Monster Hungry Burger out and making him popular again!!!! Excellent job on the video Andi bet that Burger you made was super duper yummy!!!
this deck has so much potential since its all based on food the recipes are endless and the fact that deserts are also going to be linked to it as extension is good also. if Konami does it right this will be the best ritual deck ever probably as its only at lvl 6 currently and it can go up to easily lvl 10 or 11ritual monsters, plus the male chef card
fun fact, Hungry Burger does have a flavour text in both The Sacred Cards and Reshef of Destruction. It reads: "A being that has assumed the guise of a mouth-watering burger. It wafts a tasty aroma to attract foes, then eats them."

I am a french player of this archetype, and when i saw the name of english card is the same of french cards, i love that. Thanks Konami for this amazing glow up of french culture. And thank you for this amazing video
There's actually a reason for the chefs to be fairy type, and it ties in to the darklords Seeing as how you're summoning demons using food, that ties heavily into gluttony, and the lord of gluttony is a fallen angel If Konami knew about the link when designing them, that's a great connection
In duelist of the roses, they either changed some effect monster’s effects or gave vanilla monsters effects Hungry Hamburger was a ritual that required 3 specific monsters. Bio plant, battle steer and Griggle Hungry Burger’s effect was strong in toon terrain and it automatically destroys warrior monsters in battle before any damage calculation

Never have I been so amused, seeing my opponent with full board going for my tiny level 1 Ritual, only for them to be tributed completely. That being said, my toughest "customer" to serve in this event must be the Vanquish Soul. They all do non-targetting, which is hard for my food to be served to them

The fact that mieru herself isn't a part of lancers still bothers me. It's kinda cool if the lancers had all the summoning method representative for each.
I really thought that they were building up to Rituals being the key to beating Zarc since its the only Advanced Summoning that it wasn't immune to and we saw the beginnings of a reintroduction of Rituals with Mieru and the return of Auska.
Speaking of Food-Themed Archetypes, I would love to see the Gunkan Suship Archetype. An archetype consisting of, primarily, Aqua-Type Fire Attribute monsters that are based on various sushi in the form of battleships.
I believe Hungry Burger was also one of the cards thrown out by Sawatari in his debut episode of Arc-V, in which he referred to it and the others as weak cards. Oh how time clowns on him further.
I just found out about this archetype a few days ago, and after making it in Master Duel, I am loving it. I do have my own theory regarding the overarching archetype lore. It seems like within the Nouvelles restaurant, the chefs have a lot of competition between themselves. In order to keep getting better and better (and outdoing each other) they started making pacts with demons in order to enhance the quality of their food (essentially, they are allowing themselves to be possessed to become better chefs). This might explain why the humans look more human, and only have suggestions of demonic “possessions” (wings and dark auras).
ocg players theorized that the beast demon Summoned by the Poissonere are protecting her just like reverse harem. While viande summon demons that will slam his opponent.
I absolutely ADORE this Archetype. I always loved the idea behind Ritual Monster's(giving up something for something more) but found it hard to get it all together for a decent Deck that wasn't slow as molasses and could collapse with one good use of a Meta card. Nouvellez fit perfectly into what i need. The fact that now i have 2 Food Themed Deck's(Suship XYZ and now Nouvellez Ritual) is a bonus in my books....
Oh. Wtf just noticed this video was just dropped. Was looking through your channel to see if you had Six Samurai archetype! Hope to see it when it's made! :)
I finally started playing master duel, and made a deck with these units. They're insane. They just destroy combos and overwhelm almost everyone as soon as you get them to pop off. It helps that no one in MD reads their opponents cards apparently. The only thing that breaks these cards are monsters with high attack that are also immune from card effects or people playing decks that benefit from defense position cards. Or when you can't pop off because you got a brick hand with no recipes or ways to draw recipes
Question: Has there ever been a monster that can attack its owner's other monsters? I think that be such a unique gimmick a group of monsters that attack each other and end up damaging there owner's opponent as well. Imagine if there was a gladiator monster with that effect?
Well Atem in the last duel of DM used Rebellion, a card that forces an Opponent monster to attack it's owner, but outside of that spell, no monster or Spell/Trap card has ever replicated that
Tell me duelist do you have a hunger for victory? Do you crave the juicy goodness of success? Then allow this archetype to wet your pallet. Do you wanna cheese the opponent? Beet them within an inch of their life? Allow our lovely chefs to cook up the opponent beasties to make a savory meal for you to enjoy. Our cards will cheese the opponent leaving them in a hurry to ketchup. But lettuce not dwell on that. You're here for a meal. Whether the crunchy iron richness of a robot, the spiciness of a pyro or the salty sea taste of a fish. This archetype will leave you saying Tres Magnifique. (God this hurt to type out XD)
We need more support cards for non-effect ritual monsters, like a ritual spell that lets you banish monsters from your hand/field/GY to ritual summon as many Non-Effect Rituals as possible, up to equal or less than the combined total ATK/DEF of those banished monsters. (So if you banish, say, 2 of Dystopia the Despondent with a combined 20,000 ATK/DEF, you can ritual summon any number of Non-Effect Rituals from your hand/Deck/GY who’s combined ATK/DEF equals or is under 20,000, like 3 of Black Luster Soldier and whatever else comes to mind to fill out the remaining amount).
They are Ritual cards. My guess is that the cooking is a Demon Summoning Ritual. A sacrifice is sealed in metal and burned in fire to appease a Demon. You call out to it, and it is summoned if it likes your sacrifice.
Amazing video as always! Very happy that Konami keeps giving legacy support to older and beloved cards :) Hoping you cover the D/D (and by extension D/D/D) archetype soon!!

I believe Hungry Burger was also one of the cards thrown out by Sawatari in his debut episode of Arc-V, in which he referred to it and the others as weak cards.
Oh how time clowns on him further.
now they just need to make a retrain of Hungry Burger to make it the TRUE Nouvelles boss monster we deserve
Imagine cooking a meal so good, a demon comes out of it !
ocg players theorized that the beast demon Summoned by the Poissonere are protecting her just like reverse harem.
While viande summon demons that will slam his opponent.
Some chef: “IT’S F**KING RAW!”
What a coincidence. I was defeated by that archetype in Master Duels a few minutes ago. Good video as always
Same, I see this and Libromancers a lot in the Ritual festival.
11:45 Baelgrill also sounds like a play on Bear Grills the survivalist but thats probably just me
Even the food has Stands now
If you think a burger doesn’t fit in a fancy restaurant, clearly you haven’t been to Red Robin 😏
Mix in herald and cyber angels
They aren't that slow all you have to do is put something on your opponent side in attack position. Like lava golem or kaiju
@@r3zaful or Volcanic Queen work's too ..
Oh. Wtf just noticed this video was just dropped. Was looking through your channel to see if you had Six Samurai archetype! Hope to see it when it's made! :)
Ok Sam making an actual Hungry Burger is both hilarious and adorable that got me 🤣🤣🤣
The TCG naming is GREAT!
I really hope we get Pattisier cards... And the other chef, hopefully?
If you want to be accurate, it debuted in MagicRuler.
For anyone who hasn’t seen the Food Theory video, the tire company is the same one that gives the restaurant stars.
I love how he uploaded this video
that perfectly aligns with the Master Duel Ritual Event
I finally started playing master duel, and made a deck with these units. They're insane. They just destroy combos and overwhelm almost everyone as soon as you get them to pop off.
It helps that no one in MD reads their opponents cards apparently.
The only thing that breaks these cards are monsters with high attack that are also immune from card effects or people playing decks that benefit from defense position cards.
Or when you can't pop off because you got a brick hand with no recipes or ways to draw recipes
Great Archetype, never would've guessed Hungry Burger was going to be part of something like this.
And now I'm hungry.....
Question: Has there ever been a monster that can attack its owner's other monsters?
I think that be such a unique gimmick a group of monsters that attack each other and end up damaging there owner's opponent as well.
Imagine if there was a gladiator monster with that effect?
Well Atem in the last duel of DM used Rebellion, a card that forces an Opponent monster to attack it's owner, but outside of that spell, no monster or Spell/Trap card has ever replicated that
the only thing I ask for is that there's going to be a boss monster that has a foodgasm effect as seen in food wars
Honestly I love how flavorful this archetype is. Pun 100% intended.
21 years later 😭
Damn right in the feels
This is why I like nouvelles, because the hol duel is turned in to a restaurant
Nouvelles... I see this literally as Iconic TV Food Stuff. Think Iron Chef, Hell's Kitchen, etc., but in the Monster World.
The demons popping out of the food would make a better movie than The Menu 😂
This is definitely a deck archetype cooks/ chefs would be using to duel with.
Baal and Buer.
Me: *laughing my bottom off*
We need more support cards for non-effect ritual monsters, like a ritual spell that lets you banish monsters from your hand/field/GY to ritual summon as many Non-Effect Rituals as possible, up to equal or less than the combined total ATK/DEF of those banished monsters.
That Burger was spot on though! Looks delightful!
They are Ritual cards. My guess is that the cooking is a Demon Summoning Ritual. A sacrifice is sealed in metal and burned in fire to appease a Demon. You call out to it, and it is summoned if it likes your sacrifice.
This makes me wanna get back into yugioh just to play hungry borger deck
Amazing video as always! Very happy that Konami keeps giving legacy support to older and beloved cards :) Hoping you cover the D/D (and by extension D/D/D) archetype soon!!
This deck is all about let him cook
I need another series that’s focuses on ritual summoning
