  • Against my better judgement, I decided to "try" to get this spraying job done even though the ground felt quite soft. All went well for a short while - just enough to get a good 70m away from firm ground - then just bellied out and started paddle wheeling. If I had my larger tractor I likely would have been ok as hard ground was only about a foot below the surface.
This clip starts just after we had used this technique to get out of the main hole, but still had no traction, so off I went, pole vaulting with my John Deere to get to firm ground!
Lessons learned? Don't throw away decades of experience and “have a go” because you want to please the client. I lost a whole day's work, and a near full tank of spray that had to be dumped to lighten the load. Plus, how hard is that on the rims, gearbox and tyres. Easily avoided stress and hassle!
