Awesome video Brother!!!!!!!!!!!! Watched the whole thing! I wonder how it would work if we fabricated some metal blades the size of those plastic ones? 😆
Hey thanks FX! Hmmm… take cover I’d guess… lol! Probably plastic for a reason! Hahaha. They do make this like metal blade that’s made for like little trees and blackberry’s that will tear some stuff up. A friend of mine suggest to wear a Cup to protect well you know… :) appreciate you my friend and thanks for watching the video! Stoney out 😎
i can’t tell you how beneficial this video was… you were put on this earth for a reason… this was a week long problem for me till i found this video!!!
Thanks Zachary! I really appreciate the kind words and support! Also, don't forget to store your blades in water... this will allow them to last much longer! Thanks again Zachary.
I've been looking for something like this and you convinced me. I recently went through 3 string heads in 30 minutes of trimming along a pasture fence. Can't wait to try this! Thank you.
Hey Harry! I really appreciate that. I take pride doing these and make sure they are easy to follow. I really appreciate the comment support! I hope you have a great weekend :)
Use both the string and the blades. use string longer than the blades so the string hits first. That's useful for trimming around hard objects. If the grass or weeds over power the string the blades come into play. Ive been doing that for years with the older style of polycut. That being said I think these blades are tougher than the older style white blades
Thanks so much for this video - just got my new Stihl trimmer & the PolyCut 28-2 top - got some rough stuff to get through at a cabin that I clean. Followed right along w/ you perfectly - thanks for explaining so thoroughly & the close up shots. At first mine wasn't tightening and couldn't figure out why - took that tool out & put it back in and resolved it. I'm a 67-year-old senior that does everything on my own - just love TH-cam - saved me a trip to town to Ace Hardware for assistance. I agree on the string - is a pain to deal with - these blades may be the only thing I use - to be determined ... can you have string & blades in it working at the same time?
Thank you very much for the comment and letting me know what's going on :) as for having blades and line in at the same time. I think you most certainly can. I know what I do, is I have precut pieces of line and I just stick those in as I go. Super easy and no sweat installing (you don't have to even take anything apart, which is nice). And that's so cool that you can do things on your own. No matter the age, we can all continue to learn and grow. I love that you're doing this. Again, thank you so much for the positive comment and support. I'll see you around I hope in the future! Take care!
@@StoneyCreekSparkchaser OK so when I’m done using the trimmer, take the blades off and put them in water, anything to save I will do. And yeah, I wear safety glasses and a helmet like yours anytime I’m working with my tools, I also have the Stihl chainsaw, it’s a little beast!
@sherrysusan nice!!! And no, I don't take the blades off in between trimmings, but it's not a bad idea. I just keep the new ones in a jar for future use. Seems to work well. And yes, I love my Stihl equipment. Some of the best on the market!!! Hope that helps!
Great Video. Got some tough weeds that needs cut and decided to get one of these heads. No idea on how to attach it, this video was straight to the point. Keep up the great work.
Thanks for your review. I just went out and purchased a polycut 28-2 after watching your video and I'm sold. No more measuring line, just to watch it unspool right as you're getting it back together. Those little blades are pretty tough. I have a FS-110 and didn't see it listed on the packaging, but it does fit that particular unit, and after trimming the yard with ease, you've got a new subscriber. Thanks again. Happy Easter
Jon! Man I’m happy to hear that! Yea and I understand that that head isn’t for everyone, but for me, it works just like I want it to. I hated fussing with the line. Oh and one more thing, let your blades sit in water. It will make them last longer and they won’t break as easily. Many people commented about that and they are spot on! Thanks for the comment and subscribe again. Super appreciate it :)
Man I’ve had some rough comments lately on this video! 🤣🤣🤣 Apparently this video blows and I should probably remove it from the Tube. 🤣 Anyway, that 1 inch chunk that was lost took a beating for a long time and I was able to go through a lot more brush then the line would of taken, and besides that line has always been a pain in the butt for me. You’re right though, it’s not worth it to most people, but to me it is. They are so cheap and I can run through em and not care. Thanks for coming by OutdoorCanadians. I hope you have a great day 😎
Just bought a poly cut head for my Fs 131 today and this video helped me figure out how to add new blades on my new head . Thank You man and I just subscribed to your channel ! Thanks again brother !
@@StoneyCreekSparkchaser thank you brother ! I haven't been fishing in awhile , and I need a go pro one of these days , so I can make better TH-cam content to show the other viewers !
@@deliverybryan1138 it’s all good. Life always gets in the way. Does for me as well. I know a lot of people use their phones. I have an iPhone and just started using CapCut as my editing app. Pretty sure it’s on android as well. Really easy and doesn’t cost a dime. I thought of getting a go pro, but my phone basically does the same thing, and besides, I’m cheap! 🤣 Anyhow. Thanks again and good luck out there in the TH-cam universe!
@@StoneyCreekSparkchaser I will look for that App on my iPhone . You seem like a good man buddy ! Question for you my friend . Do you have Facebook , if you do . Do you belong to any Sthil groups on there ?
Hello, I just came inside from having a strong desire to wack my weed wacker. Indeed the constant line replacement is insane. And hence, I find you video. I am now going to head down to ACE to get a line replacement for my Stihl. I "Thank You." for your video and the recommendation. My weed wacker also thanks you for saving it from being wacked. Whoever invented wacker string should spend their time in hell doing nothing but replacing weed wacker line. Again and seriously, Thank You!
Hahaha John! That’s funny and I’m glad it helped. Here’s some other good products out there as well so make sure and complete the research before you drop some coin. This system works for me, but I know that others like other set ups. Regardless, I’m tired of banging the head as well. Cheers my friend and thanks for the comment!
I have a 22 acre ranch and use everything from a small string trimmer to a 6' brush hog on my tractor. My go to is a Stihl FS 90 trimmer which I just bought a new 28-2 head for. Gave it a run today and couldn't figure out the blade change procedure. The cartoon book included in the package didn't quite do it for me. Your Video straightened it out right away. I thought my first set of blades didn't last very long and I was doing similar stuff. Time will tell. Thanks
What’s happening! Hey thanks for the comment and support! Your ranch sounds awesome and yea, my blades last a good amount of time. And it really depends what your slapping it against. I’m glad I could help you out. I very much appreciate ya!
@ryanmussell739 hey Ryan, they work ok. I have tons of blackberry bushes and it does knock them down just fine. As for saplings, if your knocking down I/2” and smaller, it’ll Chomp through em pretty good. Just keep your blades in water when you’re not using them so they stay malleable. Hope this helps! Thanks
Excellent ! We've just bought an FSA 90R and the 'instructions' to change from plastic line to this head are utterly pathetic (for big-time German designers, their instructions are complete bollocks). Their TH-cam video (all music, no words) at less than 2 minutes is also rubbish. At least I can now see how this one works - bloody marvellous, thanks
Kiwi! Thank you so much for the comment and supporting my little channel. I’m glad this helped and you’re right about the instructions. Not very clear at all. Also, I don’t use the plastic blades as much anymore. I just have some precut lengths of string I slide through and I’m good to go. Anyhow, thanks again! Are you from New Zealand btw? I’ve been there a few times and absolutely loved it there! You have a great country :)
@@StoneyCreekSparkchaser Yes - we're in NZ - Nelson - top of the south island. We've got more weeds than you can poke a stick at, and the plastic cord is as useless on them as tits on a bull, so we bought the new machine because while I use a steel-blade scrub-cutter, the wife found it too heavy to use but the light machine she had was useless on the thicker stuff. The battery-powered machine is good, lasts about 30 minutes before needing a battery change but that's about all she wants to use it for at a time. But Stihl....... they might make good machines but bugger me their idea of instruction manuals and videos is pathetic - your vid was just what was needed
Well thanks again Kiwi and good luck with your jungle! 🤣🤣🤣 I was near Christchurch when I was there, back in the early 2000’s. I always said to myself… if I can go anywhere in the world again, NZ would be my choice. 😀
Never figured out the STIHL string trimmer heads. Over a three hour trimmer sessions (with three STIHL machines) spent a third of that time getting them to feed out line or even taking a reload. One season they sort of work, the next nothing. Frustrating for sure. Will be going with the POLYCUT thank you!
Thanks Cat! Glad this helped! I’m with you, I’m tired of being frustrated. Some people are good at feeding line and I know that I’m not. Appreciate ya :)
I sure did RadioRewind and I knew that doing the video and just had a brain fart. Being over top of it made it confusing, because from looking down at it, it looks opposite. Thanks for the “nice” correction. Ive had some pretty awesome comments about this in the past , lol. Easy mistake. I appreciate the support.
I bought this head based on this video. I'm guessing the quality has gone downhill in the last 2 years. I chewed a pair up in 1 day mowing around my 1 acre. Very few spots to hit the blades on anything solid (like the retaining wall pavers in your video). Just looks of highway ditch weeds and small woody stems (nowhere near as bad as the last part of your demo). Back to looking for a suitable head.
Hey Mczawlytko, I'm sorry to hear this and what works for me may not work for someone else. Having said that though... have you tried leaving your blades soaking in water until you need to use them. I didn't point that out during the making of the video but was later informed from a viewer that the instructions actually state to do this. I tried it right away and to my amazement, they worked for a longer amount of time and were able to take more abusive hits. Am I saying this will fix the issue, not entirely, but it could help them last further. Let me know if you try this and see how it works. I just keep mine in a ball jar full of water and then put them on when I need to use it now. I'd say a good overnight soaking will do the trick. Again, I'm sorry it didn't work for you and I'm not affiliated with STIHL at all. I'm just trying to get some alternatives out there. If you find something better, let me know. I'm always willing to try something new and different.
thanks for the video. I purchased one of these for my 35 year old FS86 after watching your video. I had to watch your video again to see how it came apart. I kept looking for screws to tighten down but you don't have to tighten or loosen any. The instructions are not very clear. thanks again
Hey John! I appreciate the comment and support and really glad I could help. Welcome to the Stoney Fam and don’t be hesitate to ask further questions. I’m usually pretty quick to respond. Have a great day!
You need to mention that they want you to soak the blades in water for 12 to 24 hours too. I went through 2 blades in 15 minutes of cutting thicker weeds that I sprayed dead 1 month before
Hey Michael! Thanks for this. I didn’t even realize that… thanks again for the input and I’m sure others will see this and follow suit. If I know one thing, we all learn from others and that’s what makes this resource useful. Appreciate the comment and support. Thanks again Michael :)
I just put this on my FS131 and it’s great. My only complaint is I think the 131 has too much power for it as it over revs so the 91 is probably a better bet. I did a large area of long thick grass in no time. I was careful to not hit anything that wasn’t a plant so my blades still look good.
Hey Stephen! That’s a great observation and I couldn’t agree more with you. I really appreciate the comment and support. This comment will definitely help someone in the future!
Hey Raymond! Yea thanks for this. I didn’t know that at the time but through the power of YT I found out and yes you’re absolutely correct! Thanks brother!
Mine came with a little book taped to the back with one page of English witch was totally useless. Thanks for the tutorial. And whats up with soaking the blades for 12 - 24 hrs?
Hey Bayou Boy! Thank you so much for the comment and support. And yes, I just keep my unused blades in a jar of water. This will make them last longer and they will be less brittle. This is a must and you’ll see a difference if you don’t do this. Thanks for the question and I hope you’re having a great Sunday!
I didnt listen properly the first time. I'd never have realized regardless that i need to turn the heads the other way. Thanks very much bud Thank you very much, im not making this stupid damn mistake a second time
Looks like the ticket for Blueberry bushes and stuff.. I need something for the stuff between grass (trim line) and trees (saw blade) that really eat up line or the saw blade is too mush for.
Hey Gold Country! It definitely works great with Blackberry bushes. When it comes to sensitive stuff, I just take out the blades and I have pre-cut lengths of string I put into the same head. It’s a little time consuming but easier for me that using the standard head, because I can never get the like to work, lol.
Andrew! Hey thanks man! I appreciate the comment and the support! I’m just super happy I helped you out and saved you a drive. Thanks again and I hope you’re having a wonderful day my friend 😎
I've actually seen that done and know that they make something similar to what you speak of. It's basically just a metal bar that attaches and will take out pretty much anything. Thanks for the comment and support David! Super appreciate you!
Your video was much appreciated. The picture directions included with the blade kit were confusing and misleading. I struggled to comprehend from the directions included, how the top & bottom came apart. I have similar “jungle” to clear and appreciate your complete demonstration.
Hey thanks Garth! I really appreciate that and I’m really glad I could help you find your way. Good luck out there and stay safe. Thanks again for the comment and support! Always appreciated!
I’ve never had trouble replacing the line on trimmers but I’ve tried several of them including the speed feed head and the string breaks off even with the head and won’t come out or the line get trapped under itself inside the head and you’re constantly taking the head apart. Like you though I got tired of it. I bought the DuroCut 20-2 and with it you cut short pieces of line and when the line breaks or wears down you just pull the old piece out and put in a new one. I precut pieces of line and put them in a nail apron so when I need to change the line I just yank the old one out, reach in my apron and grab a new one. It takes like 5 seconds to do this so it doesn’t matter how many times you have to do it it is just no effort at all. Funny, I’ve read all kinds of bad reviews on the 20-2 and I can’t figure it out what their problem is with this head. This is so easy a kid could do it. I will never go back to a spool head again. Good luck with yours.
Thanks William and you are completely right. I did the same with you with this current head. I just have a bunch of line cut into pieces, run it through and go. Change out is so easy and I never fuss with it anymore. Appreciate the comment and thanks again for the support :)
I do Eric, I just buy a pack and leave them in a jar of water. It makes them last a lot longer and it makes them take more hits. Thanks for the comment and support 👍
Hey there! Thanks for the question. I’m not sure if the exact name but I think it’s a lock pin. At least that’s what I’d call it, but to be honest, I really don’t think you need anything special. I’ve never tried this before, but maybe just grab a Phillips head screw driver, stick it in there and see if it catches. If it does, then you’re good to go! I hope this helps and thanks again for the comment and support!
I have an older head with 4 plastic blades (white) that break off super fast, especially with blackberry and teasel. How does this head with orange blades compare?
Hey Jerri! Thanks for the comment and support! As for your question, I’m not entirely sure and you’ll probably have similar results. I did however find out some interesting info about these plastic blades though. When you buy a pack of blades (and this probably works for your older ones as well) pour some water in there with them. For some reason that type of plastic likes water and it makes them last a lot longer. I started doing this and I’ve had way fewer breaks when tackling tougher material to wack. I also like just using precut lengths of the plastic wire and running it through the head. It’s pretty easy and I don’t waste the blades as much. Anyhow, I hope that answered it for you. Thanks again and Happy New Year!
Hey Creed Lake! That I’m not sure of, but I wouldn’t see why not. As long as the weedeater has the same threaded shaft for mounting purposes, then yes, it should. Did you try looking up your piece of equipment to see if it’s capable?
Hey Sherry, and unfortunately no I do not. Look up on YT the Humboldt cut. That's the easiest and safest cut to take down a small tree. There should be plenty on there for beginners. I hope this helps and let me know if it does. I appreciate your support
Awesome vid! My husband got this attachment and I came across your video after trying to find one on how to replace the blades myself. Can you use these blades for edging like you would with line?
Hey Judicial Mermaid! Thanks for the comment and support! I haven’t tried that for edging yet. I just put some string in and use that for edging. I guess you can give it a try and see how it goes. One thing I’ve noticed with the blades is when you hit concrete or rocks, things can fly out and the blades can break. So it can be a bit dangerous. I always use my Stihl chainsaw helmet with visor and glasses when I use it. But….. I do like living on the edge sometime and might give this a shot. I have a section that I edge so next time I do it I’ll try the blade method. So yea, why not! Just be careful Mermaid… we need to keep those eyes ;) take care and let me know how it goes! Have a great night 😎
@@StoneyCreekSparkchaser Thank you for your response sir! Let us know how it works out if you decide to try edging with the Polycut blades. I think I will stick with the string for now lol. 😅 I appreciate you taking the time to review this for us and keep us updated!
I have to weed eat around a lot of chain link fence & my line constantly gets caught up in the fence. Would be curious as to how well these blades hold up against chain link fence. I am curious though as to why you can't change out the blades with the head still attached since you show a gentle tug is all that's necessary to pull the white part off to pull off the blades & that's the part that's on the outer edge?
Morning Cheryl! Thanks for the comment and support :) As for your question, yea chain link fences are notoriously known to be hard to keep free of grass and other stuff. A lot of people clear it by hand and then spray a line of herbicide (or something more environmentally friendly) to keep things from growing there. I know for a fact the orange blades will last longer against the fence, but they’ll still break eventually and you’ll have to change them. Also the reason why you have to take the head off to change the blades is because there’s a bolt that holds the black part of the head (top) and the white part (bottom) together. You unfortunately you have to take and unscrew the head off in order to separate the black and white pieces. This is the only way you can replace the blades. I hope this helps and I appreciate the question. Good luck out there and stay safe when using the blade system. Projectiles can happen so make sure and use those safety glasses :) Have a great day Cheryl!
@StoneyCreekSparkchaser thanks for taking time to explain the schematics behind the blade replacement or I'd've been trying to pop off that top & probably would've damaged the head 🫤
When I worked at a Stihl dealership we were told to keep the poly cut blades in water until you needed them. Kept them flexible and was supposed to last longer. Never noticed any difference. Have you ever been told that??
I have never heard that… hmm. I mean it makes sense, but i mean they are so cheap so it wouldn’t make a difference to me. I chew through em and just replace them. And no more string. I could never get that to work properly and made it super frustrating. Was it cool working at place like that? I always wondered that :)
I also have a 91-r and i read in the owners manual that you shoukd only run the motor between half and full throddle. Just somethimg i read i certainly do not know it all, i just recemtly laemed this apparantky this is the case with all hogh oerformance two cycle motors. Just a tip for you ro hekp with longevity of your motor.
Hey thanks Tom! I appreciate that. Yea I don’t really use it that often but will definitely remember that tip. I’ve always loved Stihl products and they’ve done me good. Appreciate the comment and support Tom!
Hey Carla! Did you happen to see if the 28-2 is made to fit on your battery powered trimmer? It might take a different one. Do you happen to have a model number of the trimmer you have? I’ll do some research for ya and try and get you on the right track :) also. Do you see a nut on the underside of the trimmer head? Mine doesn’t have one, but yours may.
Hey Dave! Great question! I’d do it if I were you. Definitely won’t hurt anything. I’ll give it a shot next weekend and see how it goes. I’m sure it’ll be a winner. Thanks for the comment and support Dave! I hope you had a wonderful day :)
Hey Jeffrey, As long as the 28-2 head is off from the trimmer, the only thing I can think of is to take a flathead screwdriver and maybe pry it off against the black portion. Maybe it just got stuck and needs a little work to come off. Other than that I’m not too sure. Let me know if that helps.
@StoneyCreekSparkchaser Sorry i am the one who is not very bright. I was trying to take it off while it was still on the trimmer. Thanks for the quick response and all your videos. Newly subscriber
Jeffrey, it’s all good my friend! You’re definitely bright, just easy to miss. I did the same thing! Haha. Thanks for the comment and support! I really appreciate it!
You do Eddie. I goofed on that and knew it was clockwise but when I was above the head it looks counterclockwise and thus I said what I said. You are definitely not the first to point that out 🤣 I appreciate the comment and support though. I hope you have a rockin day my friend :)
If it works for you that’s great but those are so niche and string is so much more versatile. Should have gotten the Shakespeare max load easy feed head and loaded it with .105 line.
Hey Edward! I totally get that. It definitely works for me because I just can’t get the factory head loaded with line properly and end up fighting it every step of the way. Now I have used line in that new head and it does work well… I just need to add and replace some every so often. Now that you mentioned that other brand, I’ll definitely take a look at that and maybe give it a shot :) This is another reason why I do this… people like you, make comments like this and recommend other products that may work better. For that, I thank you and appreciate that a lot. Thanks for checking out the video and I hope the rest of your weekend goes great! Stoney out! 😎
The weed wacker I got from a local Stihl dealer as well as the POLYCUT 28-2. Have you tried ace hardware, stihlusa.com, or ebay? Even Amazon has some knockoff brands that would probably work. It’s weird you having that question (you’re not weird or the question) because when I went to look up online where to get it, you’re right, it’s limited which is really odd. Pretty much if a local store sells Stihl products, you should have no problem ordering that part. I hope this helped Advanced FineArt :) let me know if you find it and where you got it from please? It may help someone else out. Thanks for the question! Super appreciate it! Thanks again my friend 😎
I've really messed up. I found your video after I made this mistake. I got the metal "cup" upside down. I put it on down and screwed the head on before I realized I'd done it wrong and now I can't unscrew it. Any ideas how to fix it?
Oh shoot Robert!!! I’m sorry man! Hmmm… I haven’t had to deal with that problem. So can you unscrew the head off at least and then just try and pry with a screwdriver the “cup” portion off? I’m thinking you can’t even get the pin to lock in, so maybe you have to get a pair of vise grips to hold the cup and to give yourself better leverage spinning the head off. I wish I could help more but if I were in your shoes and really couldn’t get that bugger off, I’d maybe take to a Stihl dealership and see if they ran into that issue and help you. Maybe even just call them and see if they have any experience in that. Let me know how you end up fixing it so the next person can read this and have an upper hand. I’m sure this happens a lot. Sorry again my friend and I wish you luck!
@@StoneyCreekSparkchaser Thanks for responding so quickly! I will save your video for the future. I wish I'd watched it before I tried this on my own. I did find out that you can remove the bolt that holds the gearhead and shaft together. Wedge a screwdriver down the center of the shaft above the head to hold it in place, then you can unscrew the head and flip the plate over. Thanks again, Robert
@@trekinbuddy awesome Robert! So glad you got it to work and thanks for commenting back! If this ever comes up again I’ll just refer them to your comment! Appreciate ya!
I had one of them before. The plastic blade breaks if you hit something harder. If one blade breaks it is totally out of balance! I found they were more problem than good. It takes me less that 3 minutes to restring my Stihl Pro. Better is just an opinion. Also, don't do what most people do and think thicker string is better. It's not. I use .095 with my Stihl Pro.
Hey Dee Jay! Thanks for the comment and yea I agree with you. The head that comes with it is horrible, but I’ve heard good things about the Stihl pro. I tend to just use precut sections now and pop those in there and go. I just use mine for home use so it doesn’t come out too often. Anyhow, thanks again and I hope you have a good one :)
You know, it may be the pro version? It just came with it so your guess is as good as mine. I remembered the few times I tried to spool it, it would take forever and keep coming out of the grooves, then when I used it it would bind up and almost like melt together. I swore I did it right after watching multiple videos. It’s probably the line I used, but most likely it’s just me being incompetent! Hahaha
@@StoneyCreekSparkchaser I'm assuming that it is double stringed. I understand what you mean about melting string and getting stuck. You pull out about 20 feet of string. Take both ends and put them in the spool holes. It is very important to wrap the string tight. I do it by turning the spool to wind the string while using my fingers to guide the string properly. Unproper wrapping of the string causes the rips of the string. You never cut the string until it is fully wrapped and installed. Maybe I should do a video on this since my other videos don't get much attention. Every since I started wrapping the way I do, very rarely do I get a messed up string like we talked about.
You make it sound easy! I think you should do a video! I’ll definitely check it out. There are plenty of dummies out there (including myself) that need help. Oh and don’t worry about views my man. Just keep doing what your doing and they’ll come eventually. Shoot my older videos were stagnant for ages before I had that one that took them all off. Just be yourself and always do what you want to do. I can tell you have a ton of knowledge up there ready to be shared :) let’s go! Thanks again for the continued support my friend.
Hey Bruce! Give it a shot and let me know. Maybe I missed that, but I had to always take it off because it screws on and it doesn’t allow me to change the blades with it attached. Appreciate the comment my man :)
You're are right and I was wrong about the head coming apart the bottom peice has threads in it and it screws on when you screw the head on I thought it would come apart with out taking the head completely off my mistake sir
@brucelewis1017 it’s all good Bruce and no worries man. I thought I missed something. Completely possible on my end. Thanks again for letting me know 👍 I hope you have a good one brother :)
Hey the Howling Forge! Thanks for the comment and support! So I just checked the FS70 manual and yes, it does say that it supports the POLYCUT 28-2 trimmer head. Nice!
Hey Andy! Thanks for reaching out my friend! Yea it’s weird. You’re not the only one who has said that. I don’t work for STIHL and I have done some research and found out the same thing. I’ve only had luck at local dealers that sell STIHL equipment. They have no problem getting that stuff in. You can also try eBay and there are some knockoffs on Amazon that would probably work just fine. I hope this helped and if you do find a place online and it works out great, try and remember to post so the next person can use that info. I appreciate you my friend and I hope you’re having a great “not too hot” Thursday 😎
Hey Wampus! Yea I’ve strung heads before but like you said, ours isn’t that user friendly. I just keep a bunch of pre cut strings and insert them as I need them. Works pretty good. Thanks again Wampus. I hope you have a great weekend
Would nylon line have gotten through those blackberry bushes and stuff ? I wonder if you got say a bicycle spoke or maybe some wire of similar thickness and cut a piece the length of your blade and bent a loop at one end. Would that be dangerous to use or destroy things that you may hit like trees or fence. I know you say your blades are cheap - How much is cheap ? Can't be cheaper than a old wire clothes hanger. Maybe just too damn dangerous.
I’m sure that would all work great. Just don’t know how the projectiles would be… 😂😂😂 when I say cheap I’m talking a buck or so per blade if that, and you can get cheaper knockoffs online. I’ve seen people use those wire brushes that you would use on like a grinding machine and adapt them to the weed eater. But those little wire bristles shoot off and can actually embed in the skin. Either way I keep some nylon string like you suggested in like 14 inch lengths that I just wire through and use that if I want. Now that’s cheap! Ultimately I hate spoiling that sh*t on the reel. I just can’t ever get it to wrap correctly to the point where it won’t come out because it’s too tight, or it’s too loose and just spins off the head! Hahaha

See and that’s what I thought too with the orientation. Honestly I was being apologetic. I got so much crap for that statement, lol. It has just got comical at this point. Regardless, it’s hard to know someone’s emotion behind a comment or message. My apologies again and thanks again for the clarification. I’m at the point know where I’m confused and I just turn it one way until it gets loose, hahaha. I hope you are having a good one my friend.
That is very weird Steve! Sometimes I wished we could post photos in the comment section so we could all see that. Do you think it’s a defect or something else that’s wrong? Sorry it’s not working out for you. Let me know if you figure it out. Maybe I missed something. Thanks Steve
Might work okay on your 91, but my 131 absolutely destroys blades. Even if I don't hit anything, a pair of blades might last me a tank of gas cutting thick grass. The Polycut isn't really that ideal for trimming IMO. You can severely damage fencing, siding, trees, your air conditioner, etc. If you're having trouble reloading your line head, you might try an echo speedfeed or a husqvarna T35. Both will fit your trimmer and are easier to reload than your autocut.
I hear you 100% Adam! I’ve already torn up one of my fence posts with those blades. I alternate between the line and blades now for that reason. Appreciate the comment my friend :)
Yeah the blade works you have a long way to go on learnung how to handle a weedeater i mean long way but we all start somewhere next time use the blade only on the weeds and brushes never nears walls and rocks
Hey Aegisranger, I can see exactly what you’re saying… I just watched that portion a thousand times and can see where you can see that. I was giving instructions based on looking from the top of the head down (standing in front of it) and in that direction it’s counter off, clockwise on. From looking from the bottom of the head (so I guess get underneath it) it’s clockwise off, counter on. So I’m not really sure which way is an accurate way to explain but yea, If I goofed then I goofed. I’ll own it. Thanks my friend.
@@jasonbyu75 hahaha! Hey Jason! Brother to be honest I’m so confused… especially from that first comment I got a while ago. Obviously it’s righty righty, lefty loosey but from the perspective of myself completely the task it came off the way it did. Hahaha. Still confused but thanks for checking it out man. Oh and after that guy commented I went out and tried it like 5 times and I was like… wtf! Lol
For the last 18 months I've not let the lawn crew edge or use a weed eater in my back yard. th-cam.com/users/postUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG I didn't like the fact that they just kept cutting the edge of the lawn further and further from the rock lining the flower beds and leaving bare ground. And the grass was trimmed or scalped several feet around trees, etc. It was a constant battle with them so I told them to just mow and no trimming. I have Zoysia grass so it grows pretty slow. Obviously after a while it could use some trimming. I'm in my 80's so I can't do much of it myself. Finally I decided that if I could find a lightweight battery powered trimmer I might be able to do some light trimming. I decided to buy the LST201 20V trimmer. And it works great for my needs. I have back yard with about 150' of flower beds and several trees to be trimmed. I can lightly trim the whole yard with a single charge! The grass I trimmed was only a few inches high but the trimmer was more powerful than I expected.
You got it Bassett! Appreciate you coming by my friend. You know I just realized it’s almost that time of year where I have to break mine out again and start cutting stuff. Winter is finally coming to an end. Good luck with your trimmings 😎
Hahaha. Awesome demonstration. I wasn't sure if it was the blade for tumble weeds, but thanks to you, I think it's the one. Thank you
Awesome Charlie! Thanks for letting me know. I hope it works out for you my friend! Thanks again.
Best simple video and i searched multiple sites before i find your video, well done thanks.
Nice! Thanks for the tips! I’m doing this next time I use it! Thanks again for the comment and support!
Yes, that is my method with the old style Poly Cut. I will do that with the new 28-2
That’s an awesome idea. Thanks. Will try it.
Take care!
Oh and make sure you keep your blades in water... trust me, they will last a lot longer. I just keep mine in a ball jar. Good to go!

@sherrysusan nice!!! And no, I don't take the blades off in between trimmings, but it's not a bad idea. I just keep the new ones in a jar for future use. Seems to work well. And yes, I love my Stihl equipment. Some of the best on the market!!! Hope that helps!

Thanks for your review. I just went out and purchased a polycut 28-2 after watching your video and I'm sold. No more measuring line, just to watch it unspool right as you're getting it back together.
Oh and Happy Easter to you as well :)
Lol dude took a 1inch chunk out the blades and was happy that’s awesome 😂
Man I’ve had some rough comments lately on this video! 🤣🤣🤣 Apparently this video blows and I should probably remove it from the Tube. 🤣 Anyway, that 1 inch chunk that was lost took a beating for a long time and I was able to go through a lot more brush then the line would of taken, and besides that line has always been a pain in the butt for me.
I think you got your "clockwise" and "counterckockwise" reveresed. But i get the gist of it, it is a left hand thread.
This video was fantastic! Saved me hours!
Thank you so much Drake! Keep staying awesome my friend!

Do you soak the blades in water like the instructions say.?
I do Eric, I just buy a pack and leave them in a jar of water. It makes them last a lot longer and it makes them take more hits. Thanks for the comment and support 👍
Awesome job
Thanks Brushfire! I appreciate the feedback and support!
What is the replacement part name of the meta pole that helps take off the trimmer head?
Will this work on the electric weedeaters?
Hey Creed Lake! That I’m not sure of, but I wouldn’t see why not. As long as the weedeater has the same threaded shaft for mounting purposes, then yes, it should. Did you try looking up your piece of equipment to see if it’s capable?
do you have a video on how to fell your first small tree w/ battery saw?
Hey Sherry, and unfortunately no I do not. Look up on YT the Humboldt cut. That's the easiest and safest cut to take down a small tree. There should be plenty on there for beginners. I hope this helps and let me know if it does. I appreciate your support

Lolol! No obits tomorrow! Haha! Good luck!

Hey thanks Scott! I’m glad it helped! I hope you have a good one :)

Hey Dave! Great question! I’d do it if I were you. Definitely won’t hurt anything. I’ll give it a shot next weekend and see how it goes. I’m sure it’ll be a winner. Thanks for the comment and support Dave! I hope you had a wonderful day :)
Yes, cut the line just a bit longer than the blades and it will extend blade life. I've been doing that for many years.
I have a hard time getting the white piece to snap off. What should I do?
Hey Jeffrey, As long as the 28-2 head is off from the trimmer, the only thing I can think of is to take a flathead screwdriver and maybe pry it off against the black portion. Maybe it just got stuck and needs a little work to come off. Other than that I’m not too sure. Let me know if that helps.
@StoneyCreekSparkchaser
Sorry i am the one who is not very bright.
Hi! If the blades are stored underwater they will last much longer! -Manu
Awesome! Thanks for the tip!
You made it looked easy
Thanks W.M. Lor! Appreciate you my friend :)
I believe you rotate clockwise to remove the head
Stoney out! 😎
I keep my blades in a glass of water. Keeps them less brittle and more pliable. Little more longevity. IMO.
I’ve heard that a bunch as well from fellow people like you so I’m doing the same now. They last way longer! Thanks Troutaholic!
Where do you purchase this exact model? I can’t find them anywhere online. Thanks for your help.
Thank you!!!
You got it Chris! Thank you my friend!
@@StoneyCreekSparkchaser Your cutter kind of resembled the Stihl Pro. It must be pretty similar.
I bought the same head last year and i think it will come apart with it on the weed eater
Thank you
You’re welcome! Thanks for the support my friend!
thanks so much, helped a lot😊
You’re welcome Schattelux! I’m glad it helped you out! Take care this weekend!
@stone creek sparkchaser would this fit a rs 70 r?
Hey the Howling Forge! Thanks for the comment and support! So I just checked the FS70 manual and yes, it does say that it supports the POLYCUT 28-2 trimmer head. Nice!
@@StoneyCreekSparkchaser cool thanks man 👍
@TheHowlingForge you got it dude!
Can’t find place to order/purchase polycut 28-2
I used one years ago but it had 3 white teflon blades. It mowed down everything, haha
Hey! Thanks for the comment and support! Yea I remember that one. My friend had it and it definitely cleared some shrubbery :) lol
I know how to string it . Our new At FS91 STRING HEAD JUST DOESNT WORK WELL.
Hey Wampus! Yea I’ve strung heads before but like you said, ours isn’t that user friendly. I just keep a bunch of pre cut strings and insert them as I need them. Works pretty good. Thanks again Wampus. I hope you have a great weekend
Thanks
Appreciate that Stefan 😎! Hope your having a fantastic Saturday :)
Hahaha
@@StoneyCreekSparkchaser So could the nylon 14 inch lengths get through those blackberry bushes and shrubbery that you did with the blades ?
@@mohammednovalija for mine they do. I may go through a few of those strips versus maybe a blade or 2. Righty Lucy lefty tighty got it
Thanks Don. This has been pointed out a million times and I made a mistake with how I was oriented with the head of the trimmer. My mistake and my apologies.
@@StoneyCreekSparkchaser I was being totally facetious with the normally people say righty tighty lefty Loosey but it's left-handed thread so I wasn't questioning what you were doing at all
See and that’s what I thought too with the orientation.
Ha, weeding wildlife…
That’s stihl got me giggling.
Matthew 🤣 It needs to go when it obstructs my beautiful creek view 💪😎👍
My 28-2 does not seem to have any threads to catch the bolt coming out of the trimmer. Does not screw on
That is very weird Steve! Sometimes I wished we could post photos in the comment section so we could all see that. Do you think it’s a defect or something else that’s wrong? Sorry it’s not working out for you. Let me know if you figure it out. Maybe I missed something. Thanks Steve
Definitely a defect bought 2 one had the threads one didn’t
Yea I’d say so. Quality control isn’t what it used to be
Might work okay on your 91, but my 131 absolutely destroys blades.
Yes I agree with you, the 131 is a beast.
Yeah the blade works you have a long way to go on learnung how to handle a weedeater i mean long way but we all start somewhere next time use the blade only on the weeds and brushes never nears walls and rocks
Thanks Potro! Yea I just use it for home use and getting better with use. Appreciate your comment and support :)
Use 155 string line,, no need for use of plastic blades
Thanks for the input Mark! I appreciate that :)
I suck at it too
At least you're honest! Hahaha, super appreciate the comment and support Mr705 :)
Get a speed feed 450 mate get a grip
That’s pretty cool Billy. Thank you for the recommendation. Appreciate it
Yard work. Gross
And lots of it!
"rotate the head counter-clockwise" then he turns it clockwise...
So just to be clear, righty loosely, lefty tighty ;). Seriously though. Thanks for the video. The Stihl instructions were not clear.
Lol
You need to know what you are talking about before you make a video.
Thanks for the feedback arthib19. I appreciate it. I hope you're having a great day my friend :)
Me too! Zoom zoom! 💪😎👍 Thanks!
Thank you.
Thanks Scott! I really appreciate the feedback :)
Thanks
You got it Bassett! Appreciate you coming by my friend. You know I just realized it’s almost that time of year where I have to break mine out again and start cutting stuff. Winter is finally coming to an end. Good luck with your trimmings 😎
