@@N7Crow Pretty much this, it performs around 3% worse than the standard rotation (the 99% parse everyone is throwing around is super carried by absurd crit rates - put those crit rates on a BLM playing normally and it would be like a Rank 1) and I'm not expecting it to stick around (SE will probably change Despair so it consumed umbral hearts, which would kill that playstyle without affecting other BLM play)
I would consider myself an intermediate black mage in the very best of cases but the things you've introduced to me in this video might very well be what pushes me up a tier. This is amazing stuff and the sheer volume of tricks to optimize your damage is mind blowing.

@Lil' Ari BLM is difficult because of the casting, sure- but if you save your CDs for moments where you know you'll be moving, it really isn't difficult! Plus, I'm normally not interested in stories. Content-wise, there are so many things that are available but not required and I've been having the time of my life for the past month! My raid leader has tasked me to go CRIT BLM and every kaboom i do gives me the tinglies, it's really good fun ^^

This guide was SUPER helpful! For some reason, before I watched this, my brain just could not compute how much I was losing to clipping by weaving oGCDs just anywhere. When I applied what you showed here, weaving only after an Instant Cast or a fast casting Fire 3/Blizzard 3, my gameplay improved drastically!!

Your BLM guide helped me so much. I hadn’t played BLM since HW and because it changed so much I felt nervous about playing it again in EW. Just starting BLM and I usually don't play casters in mmos. Trying to wrap my head around the rotation and when to use or not use abilities has been somewhat difficult but is starting to make more sense the more I play. I've been studying the best blm rotations through fflogs and they do a triple despair opener. I've been using it myself lately and it really does help set up your dps for the rest of the fight.

My BLM is lvl 33. This all sounds like gibberish to me. But I can 100% appreciate how well made this video was. Everything is immaculately organized with timestamps, the pacing is amazing and it's perfectly concise. If I SE ever fixed syncing (which breaks the fun out of most rotations), this video might be the thing to push me into leveling my BLM. 10/10 would recommend this video

keep in mind the "cursed transpose rotation" (the one that does not use Fire IV at all) will likely get mega nerfed the upcoming balance patch as it parses higher than "regular" rotations and is clearly unintended

@@Highonwater3X one thing to note though is that on a target dummy it has less DPS, I believe it largely parses higher due to it being less demanding once you learn it. The Savage world first clear I believe was done with a BLM that used standard rotation.

Thank you so much, this was the video I've been hoping to find for months. There's lots of BLM info out there but what I was really looking for was someone who wouldn't just throw a bunch of rotations at us, but explain why each spell is the best choice at that moment. I've been holding my static back with some low DPS and this video highlighted a lot of things I can be doing better.
Unfortunately I'm a console player, so I can't use some of these tips, including parsing or some sort of damage calculator, but I recently began questioning my rotation because of the threat count along the party list. As a BLM main since Realm Reborn, I've always been 2 or 3 on the threat list and recently I noticed I've been far lower. I'm glad to see my basic rotation was being done correctly, but my opener was in big trouble according to this video. So thanks for pushing me to better my BLM! I know other factors matter of course. Gear and some fights are less forgiving for BLM, but I knew I needed to improve somewhere, and now I have the tools to do just that. I don't do savage, but I do do extremes, and Zodiark was actually the one that was causing me to question things since you basically have to run all the way up to the corner before planting your ley lines, but I'm hoping the opener will give me enough time after using triplecast to do just that. Anyway, just thinking out loud. Thanks again for making the video! It was a huge help!
Never have I ever listened in class more than right now. Currently trying my hardest to get better DPS during the Extremes, and really needed these for Pandae savage passes, thank you for this guide! Edit : Came across my own comment a year later to try to go for the advanced rotations, but now I can say; got ex4 & 5 down, all the second tier's drops I needed and got very close to my first purple in p8sp1 thanks to you! I will wait a bit before going in Ultimates though 😅

Blackmage is the class for big brain wizards There is so much depth, so much variety in the rotation And all depends on the situation which you can and must adapt to on the fly if it is required truly, it is the most demanding DPS class in the game
Really helpful video, and explained a lot topics. I would be curious to see also some resources for beginner black mages, the basics, or maybe one more focused on specific encounters. What I'm seeing right now, as a completely newbie BLM, is managing the rotation completely fine on a dummy, but with major issues as soon as movement is involved.

i just became a black mage main for my static and this video is a godsent. I am loving blm so much and having to actually study and be educated and well versed on so many in-

Thank you so much, this was the video I've been hoping to find for months. There's lots of BLM info out there but what I was really looking for was someone who wouldn't just throw a bunch of rotations at us, but explain why each spell is the best choice at that moment. I've been holding my static back with some low DPS and this video highlighted a lot of things I can be doing better.
Unfortunately I'm a console player, so I can't use some of these tips, including parsing or some sort of damage calculator, but I recently began questioning my rotation because of the threat count along the party list. As a BLM main since Realm Reborn, I've always been 2 or 3 on the threat list and recently I noticed I've been far lower. I'm glad to see my basic rotation was being done correctly, but my opener was in big trouble according to this video. So thanks for pushing me to better my BLM!
I know other factors matter of course. Gear and some fights are less forgiving for BLM, but I knew I needed to improve somewhere, and now I have the tools to do just that. I don't do savage, but I do do extremes, and Zodiark was actually the one that was causing me to question things since you basically have to run all the way up to the corner before planting your ley lines, but I'm hoping the opener will give me enough time after using triplecast to do just that. Anyway, just thinking out loud. Thanks again for making the video! It was a huge help!

Came across my own comment a year later to try to go for the advanced rotations, but now I can say; got ex4 & 5 down, all the second tier's drops I needed and got very close to my first purple in p8sp1 thanks to you!

There is so much depth, so much variety in the rotation
And all depends on the situation which you can and must adapt to on the fly if it is required
truly, it is the most demanding DPS class in the game

Really helpful video, and explained a lot topics. I would be curious to see also some resources for beginner black mages, the basics, or maybe one more focused on specific encounters. What I'm seeing right now, as a completely newbie BLM, is managing the rotation completely fine on a dummy, but with major issues as soon as movement is involved.
I will be making blm specific encounter guides/tips videos for the Savage fights coming up :)
