    I totally agree with the recommendation of “Lifetime of Adventure” the Tuomas solo song (with his stunningly talented wife singing). Enjoyed catching up on this reaction after work today Christi.

    One of Anette's finest moments is on the track Meadows of Heaven, which is a stunningly beautiful song which you should really check out - so here's a link to it!

      I concur. IMO she's best on the more ballady songs like MoH, Eva, Turn Loose The Mermaids. Christi, if you want to hear her live, please do Slow Love Slow at Montreux Jazz Festival!

    I'm currently learning Finnish on Duolingo, partly because it's hard and I need the brain training! It is apparently easier for Japanese people to learn Finnish than for English people to do so, that's how different the Finno-Ugric group is from most European languages. Finns and Estonians share a lot of words, but sometimes with different meanings...

    This is the one I mentioned in a comment on the stream: Mika Jaakola feat. Marko Hietala - Soita (Official Music Video) th-cam.com/video/dHI64gOj6Tg/w-d-xo.html
    Also, I would recommend: Johanna Kurkela - Lyhty (livenä Nova Stagella) th-cam.com/video/V3Yk4DB1V0Y/w-d-xo.html
    Johanna is the wife of Tuomas of Nightwish, and this song is just so sweet and beautiful, much like Johanna herself.

    There is an document about making if this video on YT. BTW Troy is in this video, just way younger. He plays pipes on the cliff in end part of video. Also they did say that smoke went in their eyes and throats. They had a fan blowing towards the campfire.
    And I agree on Tuoma's "solo" work. Lifetime of Adventure, Based on a cartoon Scrooge McDuck it is an Donald Duck based storyline. And there are 2 beautiful ladies singing in it, one of whome is his wife Johanna. That stream I must see.

    The Islander in Tampere is indeed fabulous. Finland is officially bilingual; finnish and swedish. The swedish speaking population has been continuously shrinking from about 15 percent in the late 19th century to a present 5,2 percent. Incidentally, the municipality with most native swedish speakers is not in Sweden, but in Finland. Fun fact. In Helsinki region (the capital) most swedish speaking families are mixed fin/swe, like mine. My children speak better swedish than finnish and did their school in swedish. My mother tongue is finnish, but I am fluent in swedish.

    The Islander is such a NW classic, my two favorite Anette performances are Turn Loose the Mermaids, which is a folk balad similar to this one and Scaretale live, which is a cinematic metal song, similar to what Dark Sarah started doing some years later, it has incredible performances from both Anette and Marko, each of them inhabiting their characters at their fullest

    Thank you for this nice reaction in a livestream. Happy to part of your community.
    Btw I tried several times to subscribe to your “ love letter “ but I never received them. Am I doing something wrong?!
    Before I forget, in the stream there was a suggestion that you check out Marco singing with Ayreon, here’s a link. He is singing with Hansi Kürsch from Blind Guardian.

    I don't know if this has been commented earlier, but Marco's double neck, he calls "The Beast"...the unique is that the guitar is tuned as an acoustic guitar, while the bass is "just a bass".

    About Finnish language, it has zero to do with Scandinavian languages or Russian language - with Estonian and Hungarian language yes and it belongs to same Finno-Ugric language family. Historically Finnish ancestors came on pre-historic ages from a certain specific area from the middle of the Siberia (Russia as a nation or concept was then thousands to ten thousands years a way in the future and nations/tribes living in current Russia area would change and move thousand times, so no Finnish are NOT Russians as origins) of years.

    • @janihaavisto79
      @janihaavisto79 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great rant, heck no we're not Russians. Not even remotely.

      Still..."oldest european language"?....as a Greek......

    • @janihaavisto79
      @janihaavisto79 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@galadballcrusher8182 I'm a Finnish and I haven't seen that proven anyway. Most linguistics say that it has remained word's from some old dialect, but that Finnish to them have some weird mesh of Europian and even eastern sounding vocals. All I know for sure if you want a fight tell a man, ANY man that his language isn't special someway. Afterall men love only their mother's more than own Native tongue.

    • @kimmikke_
      @kimmikke_ ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@galadballcrusher8182 Didn't say oldest, said stayed unchanged longest, but OK, do not know how much Greek has stayed unchanged, maybe longer - the stuff I wrote are not my words, but from a study, but I might have chosen/remembered wrong adjective to describe it - I'll change it to more neutral expression..

    • @EneriGiilaan
      @EneriGiilaan ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@kimmikke_ I think you have misunderstood what was said about the conservatism of Finnish as a language. It does not mean that the language as a whole (grammar etc) has not changed. What is usually meant by that is that the forms of the words tend to stay very similar longer than in other languages. This is probably due to its agglunative character which means that changing the pronunciation of the stem words would result in all kinds of 'problems'.

    Swedish is one of the languages that Floor is fluent in, as well as German, Dutch and English and does speak some Finnish but not fluent as it is very different with 800,000 words unlike English with 180,000.

    You mentioned that you haven't heard Anette yet. I recommend the music video for Amaranth (th-cam.com/video/GdZn7k5rZLQ/w-d-xo.html). Coincidentally, I think that is Nightwish's biggest hit. Anette uses much more of a pop style than Tarya or Floor.

  • @chrislawton2062

    Something else I think you would find interesting is the documentary, "Please Learn the Setlist in 48 Hours" th-cam.com/video/vhExkmWKMEU/w-d-xo.html. It is a really interesting inside look at what happened when the band decided to part ways with Anette and Floor was brought in to save the Nightwish tour with very little notice.
    There is also a recording of Floor talking about it 3.5 years afterward when Nightwish returned to Seattle where it all started th-cam.com/video/vhvdzaSMRvQ/w-d-xo.html.
