Great video! Nice to see fans of the movies coming to enjoy the lineup of games this franchise has to offer. I definitely think the recently released Sonic X Shadow Generations should be your next game to play as you get both a remaster of Sonic Generations as well as the brand new Shadow Generations which you'll probably be interested in after seeing Shadow in the 3rd movie.
Yeah! The movie did what it set out to do for new fans eh? I had a blast with Colours too so I am definitely eager to play more. I've seen a lot of comments here say generations next but the thing is: Isn't that a compilation of the best levels? Maybe I should play the original games first to fully appreciate it
Great video. If you want a sonic game with more story that's plot is loosely similar to the movies I'd recommend playing sonic x shadow generations or sonic adventure 2 (though that game is very old)
0:34 If you want a Sonic Game thats Good and short ., I say Sonic x Shadow Generations will be perfect , 2 Brilliant Games , for basically a price of one , colours imo isnt that good . Unleashed is One of the best sonic games , great story , great gameplay , just a few issues ,the game is HARD for a Beginner , the Game hasnt been ported to pc, and its pretty long , but other than that its really good Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 , Old games , but one of the best and i highly recommend it , only problem is that some sections hvnt aged well,
@KoolPeas sorry for the late reply, but u need to know that unleashed is split into 2 play styles , Day Time Stages , and Night Time Stages. The day time stages are high speed and is heavily based reaction time since sonic is REALLY fast in this game , which makes it harder then your average Boost Sonic Game, the Day time levels are based on God of War-Style combat , the combos aren't all too hard but as the game goes on it gets a bit more complex , and the level design for the night time stages aren't too complex at the start but they are quite lengthy (15-20 mins depending on the stages) the bosses are harder then other sonic games but again not straight up unfair , maybe lose a life or two , but this game has a huge difficulty spike at the end , with the last level being around 35 MINIUTES on your first playthrough It's not Elden Ring difficulty but it's harder then ur average sonic game , the ost and gameplay tho are top notch , best in the series
I can't comprehend why. I played og a ton back in the day. I played through Ultimate 2 or 3 times. I can't find any issues. In fact Ultimate feels more comfortable to control. Especially with being able to press a button for wisp powers and not shaking a remote.
@KoolPeas the day stages just require fast reaction time but the night stages are nearly god of war levels of hard. And eggman land is probably the hardest stage in any sonic game. The game requires a big understanding of spnic mechanics to be beaten
Hey, it's a little inaccessible being stuck on Xbox 360 and ps3 (but does work with current gen Xbox backwards compatibility) but I STRONGLY recommend Sonic Unleashed, there is a gimmick called the werehog at night which is like a beat em up, it starts out a little slow but if you focus on upgrading your combos you can start to really enjoy it. But the real meat of Sonic Unleashed is the daytime stages where you blast through my personal favourite boost levels in the entire series. The story takes itself much more seriously than this game but still has a lighter tone at times so it never feels too out of place. Sonic Unleashed was my first video game ever so it holds a special place in my heart lmao
Loved colors, one of my favorite games from my childhood. If your looking for one to pick up next there's the new Sonic Generations Remastered which is incredible
I'll have to give it a try at some point, I am a bit worried though - Isn't generations just a compilation of the best levels? Shouldn't I play those original games first to fully appreciate it?
@@KoolPeas while it is the same zones the levels are completely different and remixed though to an extent you see right it might be better to play a few of the other ones first. Maybe try Sonic Orgins it's a full compilation of the original 2d Sonic games which are all quite short but a lot of fun
My first sonic game was chronicles... not recommended although I still love that game. It's definitely what got me to love sonic's storytelling though. If you liked the boost gameplay I do think the most obvious next step would definitely be the recent generations remaster but I also might recommend the 2d ds game the formula originally originated from with sonic rush. You could also give the newest 3d sonic game trying to create a new formula for the series a go with frontiers but that has a very different appeal. Or try what is largely considered peak 2d/classic sonic with mania. Outside of these options there's obviously other great games but maybe not great starting points(love the adventure games but they're both a hassle to set up with adventure 1 needing mods to restore it to a more dreamcast faithful and less buggy version and 2 just being a hassle to get working in the first place) and it's probably a good idea to start with the more recent(and accessible) outings
@KoolPeas I tend to ramble and say more when less would do just fine Just who I am so honestly don't worry too much about the whole list I just like to go through every option when discussing options
Coming from someone who grew up playing Sonic, and already played almost all of them, t's definitely the mainline I personally dislike the most (But far from the worst if you count spin offs), I really dislike the gameplay, and the worst part is, the things I like about it (pretty much 20% of it), are things that are done better in Unleashed, Generations and even Forces and Lost World My impression is that this is a Sonic game for people who dislike Sonic (Which is why the critics love it-)
Saying Colors is the game for people who dislike sonic has to be one of the worst statements ever said about this game. You are literally saying, if you like this game, you dislike Sonic. That makes no sense. Also, the reason why critics love it is because the tone is not serious, which is what people were criticising Sonic games for at the time. I still have no idea what you were getting at.
@sikosonix901 this statement doesn't mean that if you like this game, you don't like Sonic, that's not a rule, you can perfectly like a game that was not made for you
if you play unleashed? don't spam when fighting (the top button is a heavy attack which hits few enemies and the left button is a crowd control weaker attack) and... try to get past the night stages (I personally think it's the best sonic game with the worst filler)
Noted! I'll keep that in mind for when I get around to it. I probably wouldn't mind the werehog parts very much. Seems fun to me actually. Maybe that won't be the case when I'm actually playing it. We'll see
@ they are a lot of fun... but if you spend too much time trying to get good at the stages they just get annoying... (which is the opposite of what happens with the daytime stages) so don't go for S ranks (they ruined the game for me)
If you enjoy Color's gameplay style, I would recommend Sonic Generations and Sonic Unleashed! Sonic Gens just recently got a rerelease, so it's easy to get your hands on. For Unleashed, the only modern console it's still available on is Xbox Series S/X. Otherwise, you'll have to get an Xbox 360 or PS3, or play on an emulator :) I would recommend avoiding Forces unless you're morbidly curious- it's by far the weakest entry with this "boost" style of gameplay. If you want to try any of the older Sonic games, then I would recommend Sonic Mania for the classic 2D style, and Sonic Adventure 2 for the early 3D style.
The only thing I disagree with is him saying this is an “inoffensive remake” No this game absolutely does not do the original justice. First sonic game so I get you won’t know all the small things broken in the game. But if u watch a video you will know how busted this port is. Yes it plays identically, but everything graphically is objectively a downgrade. A good example is the lava in asteroid coaster are supposed to emit a green hue to everything around it and in the remake that effect is just gone, replaced with a weird white glow around sonic that wasn’t there before. Tons of things like that make this remake a shame
That's why I didn't say remake. I said rerelease. I get that it's not the most ideal remaster and does not do the original game right but trust me when I say there have been far far worse. The GTA definitive editions looked like they were cobbled together by drunk toddlers and the game was barely running. At least Ultimate works lol. Honestly though, in hindsight I probably should have played with Re-Rainbow since that mod actually makes the game look like a proper remaster made by people who care
Addressing some of the points about the remaster: This game runs a bespoke lighting system called the Hedgehog Engine, which has since been replaced with the Hedgehog II Engine, and the group who did the remaster had to go back and use the old lighting tools to port the game to modern hardware. Also, the bloom issue was in the original
Out of all the games, why'd you choose the shitty remake of sonic colors 😭😭😭 You should play sonic generations and shadow generations next, they're both short but they're the best of the best
Not really that shitty lol. At least it functions which is more than I can say for some remasters. Although I also heard that this remaster isn't so bug free on the switch. I will definitely get to generations at some point
Great video! Nice to see fans of the movies coming to enjoy the lineup of games this franchise has to offer.

Unleashed is hard? How so? Like are the levels more complex? I'm okay with that if they are. I don't mind a bit of difficulty personally

@@tylerbroadway5472 you know you can play with a classic controller or a gamecube controller on the original and not have to shake the wiimote, right
@evdestroy4121 fair enough. I still see no downsides to Ultimate. Plus, Ghost wisp is fun
@ Suit yourself, but there is a plethora of objective faults of Colors Ultimate
@@evdestroy4121I guess Ultimate is good now?
But it was definitely questionable when it originally released...
If you plan on playing more sonic games you should probably save unleashed for last, that game is not for the faint of heart
It really only becomes hell towards the end, granted yeah, when unleashed swings of FUCKING swings
How hard is it?
@KoolPeas the day stages just require fast reaction time but the night stages are nearly god of war levels of hard. And eggman land is probably the hardest stage in any sonic game. The game requires a big understanding of spnic mechanics to be beaten
make this man play sonic adventure 2😭🙏
I'll have to check it out! I want to since the 3rd movie is apparently based off that game
Unleashed is the upgrade
