Currently on my level 2 technical certificate in plumbing and have done a bit of pipe bending but still found myself boggled about how to do different offsets. This has really helped me to finally get it!

Cheers for this! Watched your other two pipe bending videos and this one seemed the most simple and no-fuss! I'll use this tonight at my evening college class :D
Might be good to make a video about plumbing health and safety? Can't find any decent videos about UK health and safety for plumbers. I'm doing the Level 2 Diploma city and guilds at college now and the health and safety unit is a headache!

I'd like to thank you for this video. I had a pipe with pinhole leaks needed replacing. It had a 90 degree bend plus an offset, the prospect was quite intimidating, but this video made it look easy - and it was! In fact I think my pipe was a better fit for the space than the old one I took out! There's not enough real plumbers in my area - so they don't even return your calls.

Loving these pipe bending videos, I'm learning this all at college at the moment but it's taught very different, and it's fine, but as soon as you've done it, you completely forget the way you done it, because they don't give you simple easy bullet points like this. I've wasted so much pipe today working out how to do certain bends I wasn't sure of, and now I've seen your videos its making much more sense. Please do video's on all the other college taught bends to, very very helpful!!!

These videos are so entertaining, great fun. Can you do a video on how to deal with older plumbing, like cast iron and lead drain pipes? How do you do the connections, say, on a bad toilet flange. I've only dealt with plastic but in the community I'm in now, older plumbing is very common.

At colleges in the UK, they (in my experience of learning and teaching) teach the use of the "McEown Table".
I had a "discussion" with one of the older members of college staff about why they did that, and he said it was because it was easy, and worked... Which it simply doesn't, or doesn't always, since it's based on a bend radius to tube diameter of 4:1, to which not every bending machine adheres. My own benders (both of them) are 3.5:1, for instance, as were the ones at the college I taught at. That means the McEown table is generally useless. (it doesn't mean the principle is useless, because it can be modified to suit your own bender) it just means the data on the table does not suit the benders. The "hook" on a bender can be different from another, too, and that can affect where a bend starts to form, which in turn alters its relationship with other bends.
The amount of good tube I've seen consigned to scrap because of incorrect methods being taught...

In America we have the Uniform Plumbing Code and in it it says "no pipe shall be bent or stressed."
    That's what fittings are for.

Your better off soldering in the elbows if you want long term reliability.... Bending pipes will stretch and weaken the copper...over time with water turbulence at the bends, that will be the first place you will develop leaks..

Good video to help the beginners. I don't know how you find the time to upload all the videos, well done. I'm sorry to have to mention this, but as one of the things that bugs me, can you please stop referring to the GUIDE as a FORMER.
The FORMER is the large aluminium casting fixed to the bending machine, in which the copper pipe is placed. The GUIDES are the separate parts (15 or 22mm) of the bending machine that are placed onto the pipe and under the roller to GUIDE the pipe around the FORMER. Picky I know, but that's the kind of guy I am.
Same applies to rulers and rules, as per Aaron Lee's comments earlier, although I have to confess I sometimes call a rule a ruler (I said picky but not perfect). Keep up the good work.

I have a Pipe-Bending Question - Assuming there is the Space and Accessability to install the Bent Pipe/s how many bends is it possibleble to put into the same Pipe Run before it is advisable to use a Solder Joint,,,,???
For example : A run of three pipes with the same offsets and then another bend on all three - or - or one - or two bent at 90 degrees horizontal to the perpendicular and then another 90 degree to the horizontal,,,,???
Naturally though, it depends on the overall length of the pipe that is going to be used.
No, this isn't a joke question, it is a serious question based on my current project where my pipe runs are flying in all directions.
Any fool can cut pipes and solder in joints, but pipe bending is a reflection of the true professional.
You comment/s would be appreciated - Thanks.
    Paul

    • @plumberparts
      @plumberparts  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Paul, you can use as many bends as you like within physical allowances the main one being can you fit the bends in. There's no weakening of pipe wall or degradation with every bend added. And agreed it does often look more professional. Thanks got your question!!! Regards, PP!

Just started my plumbing course and this helped loads 🤘
Question: the marks on the bender ie: the 45 mark....... do you line the end of the mark/line up with the centre of the pipe, or do you line the mark/line up so it’s parallel with the pipe, if that makes sense?

Quick question, I understand this might not be the correct forum, scenario is, 15 mm copper tails coming through an already tiled surface, which is hard grouted. Is there a plumbing solution to levelling up a bar mixer, using conventional plumbing parts, plug for you there. I have seen the offset threaded systems, but they fit into a female receiver. Is there a solution, that can also utilise the chrome cover plate kits. Many thanks for your considered opinion.

Never normally have a flat surface and two rulers, plus usually working to a tight dead line, I pretty much eyeball all mine which is why they aren't that good. Would love to be a proper plumber where you have time to do the job properly.
