    This is a superb example of consistency when bending. Using a spring will give you a slightly different shaped bend every time, and compared to this would look like a dogs dinner. For any apprentice watching, learn this, or any other methods out there ( and I use a different method to this, but still get the same accurate results ) and stick with it. Speed will come with time and soon you’ll be bending pipes quicker than someone using elbows and soldering them.
    The advantages of bending pipes are -
    * it’s neater
    * it won’t leak
    * lower flow resistance, leading to longer pump lifespan
    * no hot works permit if you’re on site
    Very neat job you did there, I bet the customer was thrilled with the installation when you finished.

    This video is class. Some top tips for an apprentice like myself! Using the off cuts to get a mm accurate measurement. And taking note of inside/outside/centre marks
    , and how to copy that onto the bender itself is a trick I will be adding! Thanks 🙏🏼

    Tight work, and great demonstration. Bending over elbows any day! I was taught to always use the longest stretch of pipe you can ie. preferrably a single piece between junctions and endpoints. Bends are not only cheaper than elbows, cleaner than soldering, more leakproof than any fitting, the better flow also means less turbulence so less noise and better pressure.

    We run a small plumbing and heating company just outside of London, had a guy in for an interview that suggested bending copper tube is a 'thing of the past' and could do it all in soldered fittings just as well. Mentioned he refused to carry tube benders on his van, as it was a waste of space.........Forgotten his name already, as he didn't get the job.
    It's nice to see it done properly.

    Just wondering if laying underfloor is taught differently in England.I have been in the industry for some forty years mostly working in Scandinavia,the Netherlands,Germany and the middle east on industrial contracts.Dont you lay the pipe allowing for the returning pipe from each circuit to loop alongside the flow so that you dont have as much of a temperature difference and making the overall layout more efficient rather than losing temperature further away from the manifold.Simply staggering the loop to allow for a returning loop is how i was taught.Keep up the good work.

In the US the only types readily available are K, L,and M, none of which to my knowledge can be bent without kinking. Malleable copper is available in rolls (for refrigeration) but I've never seen it in straight lengths. Always willing to learn something new.
