    I'm so excited to try this. I noticed you guys do approve use of a mica colorant in this recipe. Polysorbate 80 is often used to prevent staining with mica colorants, and I was wondering if there's room in this recipe to add some! Could you possibly replace some of the glycerin with polysorbate 80? Thanks in advance!

    Hi Natalie!
    I would not recommend using food flavoring for bath and body products. If you're looking to add some vanilla fragrance this recipe, I would recommend Vanilla Fragrance Oils! =)

    I should have listened to you! I didn't buy a mask because I didn't think the SLSA would be that bad if I was careful. Boy was I wrong. As I carefully scooped it out of the bag I immediately stared coughing. I ended up finished the measuring and stirring steps while breathing through a paper towel. I will get a mask before I make the 2nd batch of bars I have planned. They look lovely though. Can't wait for them to be dry enough!

    Hi Anne-Marie you mention to add powdered colorant like Micas when mixing dry ingredients, but then later say to seperate the mix into two containers add then you added liquid colorant. Should I seperate my mixture up in the powdered stage before adding SLSA and add colorant at that step? Also what if you wanted to do more than 2 colors or gragrances. Is that possible as well?

    Arrowroot powder would be a good substitute for tapioca powder. However, you may want to make a small test batch just to check the end results. That's always a good idea when you substitute ingredients. =)

    Greetings,
    Since the soild bubble bath bars are still not dry, I crumbled the soild bubble bath bars and plucked out all of the peppermint leaves. I used a scalloped circular cookie cutter to reshape the soild bubble bath bars. They look 100% better! No brown spots!

    Hi Gwenavere samson!
    A bath bomb is a combination of citric acid and baking soda. Instead of citric acid, these bars have SLSA for great bubbles in your tub. Both are super fun to make and use. =)

    Hi Thank you for the video, I have a question. I followed your recipe to make bubble scoops. I made them all went well. BUT I waited 5 days and they never got dry. I crumbled them up and put them in my mixer and added almost a 1/2 cup cornstarch. I am wondering if they will ever dry and firm enough to package.

    To Soap Queen TV. would it be okay to add citric acid to this recipe? Or is it truly not necessary or would it mess it up instead? Thank you for all of your wonderful videos.

    • @bramble-berry

      I would recommend leaving it out. This recipe is designed to bubble in the tub, so you don't need the citric acid to create that fizzing! Love this video ❤️!!! I have a quick question instead of rolling and cutting, is it possible to use a silicone mold from BB I have the circle, rectangle,square, 9!cube molds, Do you have a video on making solid Bubble Bars using a mold. Thanks A,nna

    • @bramble-berry
      @bramble-berry  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +A'nnamaria Davis So glad you love the video! As for putting the bars in a mold, I'm not entirely sure. The bubble bars are very wet when they're first made. My worry is that they would stick to the sides of the silicone mold, and not want to come out. If you do put the bars in a silicone mold, I would recommend making a small test batch to see how it works. =)

    Cool tutorial but how much essential oil do you use if you don't want to use the fragrance oil? And will the colored water color you?

    • @bramble-berry
      @bramble-berry  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can use the Bramble Berry Fragrance Calculator! Select the “Salts” option, then select the oil you’re using and the calculator will tell you how much to use in your recipe. Some essential oils like cinnamon or clove can cause irritation so you'll want to avoid using them. Make sure to read the descriptions on BrambleBerry.com to see if the essential oil causes irritation. =)

    I'm thinking the reason my bar never really dried hard was because I'm pretty sure I didn't mix my wet ingredients until they reached the consistency that yours did. That's the only difference I can see. I will give it another shot and hopefully something simple as mixing the liquid completely will make the difference in my finished product. Thanks for sharing.....De'

    • @bramble-berry

      You're welcome! It may also be your environment. Do you live in a fairly humid place?

    • @honey-fk7di
      @honey-fk7di 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Soap Queen TV yes, humidity is 50% or more a lot of the times. Is there anything that can be done to compensate for the humidity?

    • @bramble-berry
      @bramble-berry  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would recommend decreasing the liquid in this recipe to compensate for the extra moisture in the air! You can add about .5-1 ounce less glycerin/castor oil. That will make the bars a bit more dry. I would also recommend running a fan over the solid bubble bath as it dries. You can also use a dehumidifier to absorb extra moisture in the air. =)

    hi Anne-Marie, if you're adding mica before you make the dough do you add it to powder ingredients or the wet ingredients?

    • @bramble-berry
      @bramble-berry  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Kelly Thomas (All Things Nice) Hi Kelly! We recommend adding mica to the powder ingredients. I would recommend starting off with a small amount - about 1/4 tsp. Then, mix it in until it's fully incorporated. If you want it a bit more colorful, you can add more mica from there. Don't add too much, otherwise it can transfer to the tub. A small test batch would be helpful to determine the color amount. =)

    Why do you need the cream of tartar or the tapioca stuff?

  • @appdetective
    @appdetective 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    If you're not doing this swirl pattern, can you press the mixture into a silicone mold to harden? Or do you have to sushi it out and cut it like this?

    • @bramble-berry
      @bramble-berry  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +xalliejeannex I'm not entirely sure! The bubble bars are very wet when they're first made. My worry is that they would stick to the sides of the silicone mold, and not want to come out. If you do put the bars in a silicone mold, I would recommend making a small test batch to see how it works. =)

    hello how are you? is tapioca powder and tapioca flour the same thing?

    • @bramble-berry
      @bramble-berry  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They are similar! The tapioca powder used in this recipe is modified with silicone. That gives it a lovely silky feeling on the skin. If you don't have that powder you can use flour. It will have less of a silky feeling in the bars. I would also recommend a small test batch to ensure the flour works well. =)

    So how much should you use in a regular bath? A guesstimate of how many ounces would be nice just so I know how many baths I'd be able to enjoy with the log made with this recipe. :)

    Dear Marie-Ann, thank you for that perfect Video. I´d like to do this Bubble Bath with my daugther. But we are from Germany and we are wondering about the "Creme of Tartar". When i translate i get, that it is a special mix of baking soda with corn Starch and tartar acid. Which i can buy here in Germany (abour 25 % of tartar acid). But when i see the INCI there is something else inside. Do you have Ideas if i can use our pendant of Creme of Tartar for Baking exacly? Thank you for your help. Jessica

      Nein, du brauchst Reinweinstein!
      Nicht die pure Weinsäure und kein Weinsteinbackpulver!
      Weinstein gibt es hier leider nicht einfach im Rewe oder im DM, das wirst du nur online finden, z.B. beim Stübener Kräutergarten

    Hi I made your bubble bars just before Xmas and they worked wonderfully. Made a bunch after Xmas and they all cracked on day 6. Do you have any idea why that is. I live in Vancouver British Columbia. Same weather as where you are. I even tried another batch and put a dehumidifier in the room and that did not make a difference. Also is it better to wrap them after they are dry or leave them without a wrap till you sell. I wrapped some and they started changing colour. Please help. I love your recipe and would just like to know what to do instead of having to find another one.

    I’ve been researching the labeling guidelines for this kind of product, but it’s so confusing. Do you have any label templates that would abide by FDA guidelines?

      +Ed Port I think that would be just fine! We didn't try this in a mixer, so you may want to make a small test batch to see how it works. =)

    Would the colouring in the water stain your skin or the bathtub? Is there any residue in the tub afterwards?

    • @bramble-berry
      @bramble-berry  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Merc J If too much LabColor is used, it can color the bath tub. The good news is it is easy to wipe away with a paper towel! Also, we tried this recipe and found there is little to no color left on the tub afterward. =)

    Hi Ann Marie,
    Love your channel!
    I was just wondering how you get around Lush's patent that they have on solid bubble bath? I'm interested to know whether it applies to these or not? A lot of people make things to sell so would they get into trouble making these?

    Me again with the same question ;) Can we replace SLSA with a natural product ? Thank's a lot !!

    • @bramble-berry
      @bramble-berry  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Marie-Christine Vallières We have found SLSA is the best thing for creating bubbles in this recipe. We haven't found an alternative (besides SLS) that works well. If you make this recipe, I would recommend using SLSA or SLS.
      SLSA: www.brambleberry.com/Sodium-Lauryl-Sulfoacetate-SLSA-P5244.aspx
      SLS: www.brambleberry.com/Sodium-Lauryl-Sulfate-P3562.aspx
      If you prefer to work without SLSA, you may like bath bombs! They are made with citric acid and baking soda and fizz nicely in the tub. =)
