    Thank you so much for showing in detail how to cut the fabric. I always have trouble how to arrange larger pieces to cut. Your attention to detail is much appreciated.

    I’d love to see you do the quilting on your sewing machine. Like talk about stitch lengths etc. to make those nice quilting stitches. Quilting is my biggest battle. You’re a great teacher! I’m very grateful for your tutorials, thank you!! 💜

    Am fairly new to quilting and saw this done in a class I was taking so I came home and watched this video to see how to do it myself. This video is fantastic. Slow and very easy to follow and understand. Made the one while watching this video, and now I am going to make a bunch more for Christmas Gifts. I love this table runner. Thank you so much for this video. Am looking forward to more of your wonderful videos.

    Fabrics, especially cottons or cotton blends need to be prewashed and dried due to shrinkage, BEFORE sewing. Or your project can be ruined.

    I told my daughter I would make her a table runner for her huge table that sits 12 people. I've had the fabric for over a year and I finally thought I really need to do. It literally took me no time at all with your fantastic instructions. It's going to make a beautiful gift for her for Christmas because she can't seem to find a table runners big enough for her table. Thank you so much for sharing your talent.

I think your web page is fabulous and I saw many things I am going to be making! 2 things I want to mention I especially like is the halloween treat bags. I have been thinking of looking for a pattern for them and also I LOVE your placemats with the built in holders for the silverware. Very clever! Very nice video, I will definitely be making some of these. When you use stabilizer on just the center section it seems that would leave the edges rather limp in comparison. I would probably use the batting and cut it to size after sewing the two long seams and cut the ends to a point to fit. then slide it inside after turning the tube. I really liked your fabric combinations, just lovely.

    • @TheSewingRoomChannel
      @TheSewingRoomChannel  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Adele. Yes you can cut the batting to fit, but it would take more time. So many people now days want very quick and easy projects. Hope you have lots of fun making this table runner. Happy sewing.

    My fabric from Joan's came folded(hot dog style) and is 21" when unfolded is 42" wide. I bought 4 yards so is really long. QUESTION.. Do I unfold it and then folded the other direction (long way) and make my cuts.

    • @TheSewingRoomChannel
      @TheSewingRoomChannel  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you are making a 40" long table runner, you do not need to unfold the fabric. Cut the fabric from selvage edge to the folded edge. If you are making a longer table runner, you have 2 options for cutting the fabric. You can cut two 42" pieces and stitch them together, or turn the fabric and then cut the length you want. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing.😍

      Hi Melissa. Did you use something pointed (not too sharp) to push out the pointed ends? Did you press the seam open at each end? Since I can't see it, I'm not sure what happened. The points will be somewhat blunt. Thanks so much for watching. 😍

    1/3 yard of interfacing isn’t long enough for the center. I’m I doing something wrong? I think you need 1yard and 8 inches of interfacing..so it’s the same length of the center

    I usually prewash my fabric before sewing. Not Necessary?

    • @TheSewingRoomChannel
      @TheSewingRoomChannel  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If I am stitching white fabric and a very dark fabric together, I would prewash the fabric because the dark color will run onto the white fabric. If you are concerned about fabric shrinking, then prewash. I don't place food on my table runners so I don't have to worry about washing the fabric. If the table runner should get dirty, I just spot clean it. Some individuals spray Scotchguard on it. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍

    • @TheSewingRoomChannel
      @TheSewingRoomChannel  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Joann. Yes prewash the fabric before cutting the fabric. Also before washing do a zigzag stitch on the 2 raw edges of the uncut fabric. This will prevent the fabric from unraveling during the wash/dry cycle. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching💗 and happy sewing😍

    Where’ll, do you have a tutorial of what the “width of the fabric” is?

    • @TheSewingRoomChannel
      @TheSewingRoomChannel  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Laurrie. At the end of each bolt of fabric is the fabric description - width, fiber content, and cleaning instructions (washable or dry clean). The width of the fabric is from selvage edge to selvage edge. The selvage edge is finished off so that it does not unravel. The raw edge is the cut edge. Most cotton quilting fabrics range from 42" to 45" wide. Clothing fabric ranges from 50" to 60" wide. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching💗and happy sewing😍

    can you translate it into meters and cm, then I would be very happy :D

      Hi Amelie. Good suggestion. You can find charts on the internet that will translate inches to centimeters/meters. Stay safe. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing.

    I truly like this. However, for amateur sewers, showing how the seam is supposed to be sewn would help. Thank you.

    Do you wash and iron your fabric before you start?

    • @TheSewingRoomChannel
      @TheSewingRoomChannel  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Kit. Yes I recommend pre-washing the fabric. Before cutting/washing/drying the fabric do a zigzag stitch on both raw edges to prevent the fabric from unraveling. Thanks for watching💗 and happy sewing😍

    This is a great runner. Could you explain how to a make wider one ?

    • @TheSewingRoomChannel
      @TheSewingRoomChannel  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Example: if you want it 3" wider add 1/2" seam allowance, divide 3.5" by 2 = 1.75"
      Then add 1.75" to the width of each piece of fabric. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍

    I have been wanting to make a runner for a long time. I can sew straight lines but am a pure novice at sewing home projects...I have trouble following and visualizing written instructions, so I am glad to have found you on TH-cam !
    Question: when you cut the seam to get rid of the bulk, did you do it on the other end as well? I didn’t see or hear you say to repeat that step; the next thing I heard was the part about making the triangle on the other end and pressing it. Thank you so much!
    😊

    it’s kind of flimsy with just the fabric for a table runner. I think it does need some batting and a little quilting to make it more substantial. I like watching your videos and listening to your voice!

    I made this, but it took me way longer than ten minutes! I also think it's more than four seams since you do the corners and the stitch in the ditch. I made a Christmas table runner, and it is very pretty. Thank you!

    Can you cut this lengthwise the fabric instead of crosswise? I would like to make a table runner longer and would like to cut lengthwise. Will the grain of the fabric still fold nicely? Love the video, very nice.

      Hi Fay. Yes you can cut the fabric lengthwise, and there won't be any problems with the grain. Happy sewing.

    When you do the batting should you sew the batting to the center peace

    • @TheSewingRoomChannel
      @TheSewingRoomChannel  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Michelle. If you sew batting on just the center piece, it will not lay very flat with the other piece of fabric. That is why I used the heavy iron on interfacing. Stay safe. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing.

    Do you sew the lines on the centerpiece before you attach it to the larger piece? I don;t quilt, so I have no idea when the lines are to be sewn. Thanks.

    I made this today and it was so easy, I was wondering if you do the quilting after it’s put together and the stitch in the ditch is done or do you do the quilting before you sew the middle to the sides. I love your tutorials.
