Holy Moly! That her hands even reach the left hand arpeggios notes in the B section ..... I know, I try this piece all the time because I love it so. She is amazing. Her musicality is superb .... what talent.
As always, superb playing by Umi who seemed to be completely oblivious to the background noise. People should be just as respectful when a child is performing as with an adult---especially when producing music of this quality.
Завзята, міцна дівчинка, зі своїм характером! Бракує дорослості, відчуття того, про що вона розповідає своєю грою. Поки що вона чудово копіює чужі версії, а своє власне, особисте прийде згодом... І дай Боже!
Umi's physical expressions are natural extensions of her heart-felt emotion for the pieces she plays and it's contagious! When I hear and watch her perform, I often feel Umi's taking me on an enchanting and emotional musical journey. What is music or any art if it does not move us?
Umi....I've been following you since you're first TH-cam video. You are obviously a talented and gifted young lady, and I admire your playing. If I may make a suggestion....you should slow this Scherzo down JUST a bit, you tend to rush through many of it's beautiful melodies and arpeggios, especially in the first section before the key change. Don't allow your virtuoso skills to overwhelm the beautiful melodies of these great works. Keep up your hard work....you bring joy to the world.
This is an unbelievable performance for one so young. I know every note of this scherzo, it's not easy. Unfortunately, I now have problems with my hands though I can still play bits of it, you have inspired me to try to repair the damage, and perhaps I'll play it again! Unlike a lot of pianists Umi, you don't lose the essence of the scherzo in the slow part. and the ending was very exiting, which is what it should be!. Please try to control unnecessary movement when playing. Well done!
Asking Umi to restrict her body movements is like saying, please don't wear a red dress at your performances. It is a personal choice and who are you to request otherwise? If you don't like it then tough.
Many thanks for your enlightenment. I understand body/hand movements are needed when playing piano. But “wild” hand movements like that of Lang Lang are unnecessary and, to me, just a gesture to tell others how much he appreciates that piece of music. I am an Asian. I know why. I just don’t want her to learn from him.
Well the answer is no, it's not "necessary" in that a pianist is definitely capable of producing expressive sound even if required to sit like a statue. But most pianists in fact don't play like Michelangelli, so in that light nearly all pianists are using "unnecessary" movements. It's not necessary either that you swing your arms when you walk, but I bet you don't walk around with your arms stuck to the sides of your body.
you're absolutely talented but it's never a good thing rush to play a big piece in a young age while your technique and fingers are not strong enough to support your music.

She is unbelievable but I wonder whether some of her body movements are really necessary.

Again and again the same! Soooooo boring! I'm sick of these endless talks about pianists moves.
