Jbl Charge 4 is a lot better for the price IMO. Has a great battery, aux and you can charge your phone off the speaker, I never have to charge this speaker in one day and it lasts almost a week, "I crank it up for 2 hours a day at least" so thats pretty good, the Charge 5 is not worth upgrading to IMO, they added a tweeter so it really doesn't sound much diffeent IMO and I compete in audio, we all have diffrent opinions but if you want just get a Charge 4 and spend the extra $70 on a case for the speaker or maybe keep that $70 in case the charger breaks and all.
I have had the JBL charge the orginal one from 2013 just Die on me and now looking into a new speaker and holy shit this will be one hell of an upgrade from the first one.
Maybe the JBL Charge 5 sounds good, BUT ... It is not compatible with the others speakers from JBL, which you may already have. This means, for example, you can't connect the Charge 5 to an existing Xtreme 2 (in my case), which I bought last year. Connecting the speakers would be a big feature for outdoors parties. But the newest speakers have the Partyboost system, older speakers have Connect+ (1 or 2 years old) or Connect. These are three different systems, which are not compatible. Knowing this let me look at other speaker brands where the connectivity works from the older to the newest speakers. My first JBL speaker was the Charge 3 (with Connect) which I bought in 2016, but there is a problem with sound quality because one speaker sounds bad after 3 years. Then the Xtreme 2 was my favourite. I now want to add a smaller speaker with less weight for the situations, where the Xtreme 2 is too bulky and heavy. Not sure what to do, but I am not buying the Charge 5 now and also the Xtreme 3. Sorry JBL, but I am not satisfied.
There's only 2 differences. Charge 5 is waterproof and doesn't connect with older models that have connect +. You'll be disappointed if you have older models without party boost!!! Go with charge 4, it sounds exactly the same and costs less.
CAN SOMEONE JUST TELL ME WHY I CAN CONNECT BOTH CHARGE 4 AND 5 BUT THE WON'T BOTH PLAY SOUND!?!?! JESUS IDC ABOUT THE DIFFERENCES I ALREADY OWN BOTH OF THEM!!!
First of all... Why would you want to get your speaker wet 😏 call me crazy but I was always told you should not get your electronics around water or in water would you throw your phone in the pool even if it said waterproofed if you say yes then you have a lot more money than me and who needs a headphone jack these days we have Bluetooth headphones😂😮😂😮 do yourself a favor and don't get your speaker around or in water or your phone either😂😂😂
Bought the charge 5 and the open charge port got fouled with sand at the beach then it couldn't be charged afterword after cleaning ...Pretty bad considering its supposed to be dustproof and yet sand can fall or blow into the uncovered port ..Found the charge 4 which I shoulda got to begin with plus it has the aux port and everything is completely covered and protected under a real sealed waterproof and dustproof flap.. I think the 4 sounds better without that 10 cent screechy tweeter that jbl uses to fool people into upgrading to the inferior charge 5..The Cheap tweeter on 5 sounded like it was maybe a quarter watt.. Very happy I got the charge 4 before they were gone ,as i had to drive around a bit to find one .
Could care less about fancy badging and "cool" logos, flashing lights like on the pulse. Why can't a company produce a great product w/o useless fluff? That money on badging is money that could got into a slightly bigger battery, better components, etc... At least this is still one of the best ones out there. As good or better than Bose at half the cost. JBL speakers are still some of the best bang for the buck wireless speakers.
i didn’t know what JBL stood for before, funny i like this brand and one of my all time favorites has always been altec lansing lol which is buy the same dude

I wish I bought the green one, it looks so sleek
That sounds like jester. Disinformation
Such a great review but lost me on the egg sound test
Was an analogy for does it hit hard….
I had my Charge 4
And it's worth lasting
Wow! I just learned something... I'm going to try waterproofing all my speakers more with slimy egg yolks. 🤣😜
Lol don't do it...I'm still trying to get the slime out
So my old JBLs can’t pair up? Guess I’ll have to sell!!
They can if they’re connect plus or connect chest those two can’t connect with each other and they can’t connect with party boost
On the front grate if you stare at it for a minute you see digital numbers counting up or down
Jesus you must be on something better than the 8
Nothing like having a little Salmonella on your Charge 5, lol 😆
Lol yes definitely don't do what I did.
🤲🙏Jc
hello everyone guys i need your help which one better charge 4 or 5 thank you
Charge 5 the best.Bass everything
The 5 🔥
Bought the charge 5 and the open charge port got fouled with sand at the beach then it couldn't be charged afterword after cleaning ...Pretty bad considering its supposed to be dustproof and yet sand can fall or blow into the uncovered port ..Found the charge 4 which I shoulda got to begin with plus it has the aux port and everything is completely covered and protected under a real sealed waterproof and dustproof flap.. I think the 4 sounds better without that 10 cent screechy tweeter that jbl uses to fool people into upgrading to the inferior charge 5..The Cheap tweeter on 5 sounded like it was maybe a quarter watt.. Very happy I got the charge 4 before they were gone ,as i had to drive around a bit to find one .
can jbl charge 5 connect to charge 4????
no
No
Dang... someone really had to go at 2:22! 🤣 Just kidding...thanks for the comparison!
I’m still rocking charge 3, xtreme 1, boombox 1 I feel like these are the best designs they’ve had.
IMO the Charge 3 is supreme.. I sometimes watch movies on it with my note phone in front of it, and the stereo speakers with the bass really give that miniature cinema feel..
I listen this review with mij charge 3 😁

Great speaker when connected with another one
We had a 1st gen Echo in our master bathroom for listening to music in the morning th-cam.com/users/postUgkxABghAEkaIDGZfHRBH3D3rBrlraNmnC71 and while in the shower. I didn't realize how tinny and awful the sound output on the original Echo was until we replaced it with the Studio. It was a sonic upgrade far beyond what I was expecting. Just wow. I love it because it's like having speakers IN the shower. My friend likes it because the music is so loud that she can no longer hear me singing. So that's a win-win.
venom is awesome!
1:10 I was scared (I was using headphones)
Big LOGO = SELF SELF CONFIDENCE
Jbl charge 4 the best all the way🥰😍😀
