The Charge 5 has a more detailed sound, in my opinion - a clearer separation between low-mids and bass. While the Charge 4 may sound "fuller," it comes at the expense of clarity.

The sound of the speaker can be heard perfectly in your video. Deep bass sounds very good, especially in your video. Thank you for recording the sounds so beautifully and so well and presenting them to us. I can't decide which speaker I need without watching your video. Love you dear. sh 15.06.21 7.21pm, Tu.

I bought both. First the 4 and thought the sound was muddy. Then I got the 5. Way brighter and clearer soundstage. And the bass was not bad. I’d made my decision to return the 4. Then I updated the 5’s firmware and WOW! The 4’s sound is embarrassingly bad. The 5 is louder, brighter, clearer, and the bass is deeper and much more integrated into the sound rather than living under it. It’s enjoyable! Very! Extremely!!!
There is absolutely no reason to buy a 4 unless you’re stuck in the JBL Connect ecosystem.

Better separation on the 5 with the mids and highs. highs are definatley crisper on the 5. The 4 sounds quite muddy, some would say smoother. Can't comment on the soundstage. The crispness in the uppers will change once its broken in. For what they are, they are great. I get my 5 tomorrow, for my fishing trips.
I will say I like the smaller logo. I dislike huge branding. We know its JBL, now it just shouts at you. Plus small carrying buckles would have been great, for hanging up somewhere.
Great review though. Maybe the 5 will grow on you. Change is a funny thing when you are attached to something else.
I have looked at the Bose, Dali, Sony, B & O and a few others. This ticked most of the boxes for what I wanted it for. Its a shame they don't do better codecs for it.

I got the JBL Charge 5 today, and I think the speaker sounds fantastic. I've had the Charge 4 since October 2020, and I also really love that speaker too. I decided to make the upgrade today and get the Charge 5 because I've heard it sounds better than the 4. Well, they're not wrong, but I do have issues using it with my phone. When I try to play music through my phone (LG L455DL), the music is constantly stuttering. I've never had this issue with my Charge 4 or Xtreme 2. I'm thinking maybe it's just my phone because it's not very good.
I try it on my iPad, and it works flawlessly! The speaker sounds so good it sounds like the person is singing in the same room with you! Whenever I try to listen to music through my Charge 4, it sounds muffled compared to the Charge 5. The Highs, the Vocals, the bass... everything is just so good on this speaker.
I discovered that the speaker needed a firmware update, so I did the update, and the stuttering has improved, but it's not completely gone when I use my phone. I am rather disappointed that it won't work correctly with my phone, but at least with my iPad it doesn't do that.
Edit: After playing some heavy metal through this thing at max volume, IT JUST LEAVES THE CHARGE 4 IN THE DUST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! UNBELIEVABLE VOLUME!!! It is so loud that it will hurt your ears if you're indoor. I am not exaggerating!! This thing could easily be heard 1/2 a mile away!! If you are listening to heavy metal and want the charge 4, forget it!! You would be much much happier with the Charge 5!! It is more expensive, but I now know why it is! Massive improvement over the 4 in terms of treble and over all volume!!

At 13:40 you can hear how you can both hear Bluetooth noises cause of low frequency sounds. Bluetooth just gives it a high pfeep background noise.
Aux would solve this, but the Charge 5 can't

  • @sampol8790
    @sampol8790 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

well... Interestingly, in that particular space ambient the ch4 sounds better than the ch5. One thing people dont know is that these speakers NEED an atmosphere that give the resonance so one can appreciate some quality of sound. They do the job. Is just that people mistake them for some high-end loud speaker and but is not the case. These are for some occasional mid level ambient so people can enjoy talking to each other at their reunion.

Bro, this was an unfair test for the charge 5. You had the speaker directly next to the charge 4. That charge 4 is blocking the charge 5 bass port which maybe explains the lack of bass. Try to test again with both speakers separated on its own with no obstructions on either side of the bass port.

What's your hearing is coaxial speeker versus separates.. when you don't have a tweeter that is a coaxial design where everything is coming out of a central point. That actually gives you some advantages we are from a distance everything will hit your ears at the same time unless you have some type of processing inside the speaker for the timing issues with separates. AND YOU KNOW THEY DO NOT HAVE THAT FOR THAT SMALL PRICE POINT.
You will get a tighter sound with coaxial..
The advantages of separates different amplifiers for each speaker will not so much of a difference in such a small unit.. in a compact situation coaxial is actually a better..
Coming to you from an audio engineer and an audiofile..
You have a good year for hearing that!!
