Some clarification about the switch between speaker layouts between the charge series: the charge 3 used 2 small drivers next to each other under the grill, and they played in stereo. Jbl did away with the stereo on it for one reason, the drivers are right next to each other and the treble was not great on the charge 3, so the stereo did not do much. For this reason, JBL used a larger single driver in the charge 4. Bass was improved a lot, and treble a little. With the charge 5, they added a second driver again. This does not mean the speaker runs in stereo, because the new driver serves a new purpose. It is a tweeter, a device designed only to produce treble, as seen in the Xtreme series. This will make the sound clearer, which I personally think has been an issue since the charge 2! (First JBL charge’s treble was okay, but suffered a bit with bass.)

@@FullForce1972 That’s not what my experience is with mine. If yours sounds blown, you might want to return it. I have been down this road. I have spent, with no exaggeration, at least 50 hours in total looking into what is the difference. Ok, I'll sum it up as quickly as I can. JBL has 2 manufacturing companies. One in China and the other in Vietnam. The ones made in China use inferior parts in comparison to Vietnam however it really depends on what kind of sound you want. China's has better highs, sometimes too high for the average listener, and the ones from Vietnam have better lows. Now I'm not saying that there is a huge difference but if you listen to r&b rap reggae you would most likely go with the ones from Vietnam. If you like rock, jazz etc you would most likely want to go with the ones from China. OR do what i did. I got one gray ND, Vietnam, and one dark blue TT from China. The sound that I got was truly unbelievable. I had the best of both. Keep in mind this was back in June of 2023. The original ND was the one to go for if you wanted bass but the mids and highs suffered so they updated it and made the NT (Vietnam). If you care about having parties IN the rain or IN the pool then the Chinese ones have better waterproofing. You can look at the box and tell where it's made I believe. If not then it's DEFINITELY on the inside where the charging port is on the rubber seal (inside). I hope this helps anyone who is looking to buy. Also, keep in mind that if you have the money you can buy several and check them out for yourself. Most places have a 30 day return policy. At the end of the day after going NUTS I got 2. Something else, I put two on each side of me in my living room each one about 1 feet apart and when the sound hit the wall directly behind me it reflected to the front of the room. I could have sworn that there was a 3rd speaker in the middle. Watching movies and playing games sounded immersive. Like 3D. BTW, the colors don't matter. They used to help determine which speaker came from where but nowadays there's black ND's where it used to be all TT TL etc. Don't hold me to this but I'm thinking that the N's are vietnamese and the T's are chinese. My work is done here. ✌️

Im looking for a very portable speaker to bring to the skatepark & AirPort this one looks like the one
The lows on the charge 5 are amazing too
JBL Flip 6 coming in IFA 2021 that's all I do know so far RIP JBL Partyboost? Found out in the next episode 😂
Hmmmmmmm JBL Partyboost + perhaps?
The charge 5 just stopped working for me and i have been searching on yt and cant find anything
just bought the charge 5 today! the charging set up was mad confusing at first lol. loved the video!
Do you know how many watts it put out
@@WargodFilms 40
Great review. Looking back at it, your prediction of the price drop missed the target but you totally nailed the flip 6 with a tweeter!
yeah, this inflation is making things hard regarding pricing.
@@GYMCADDYhave you experienced the treble sounding scratchy over 30-40 percent like the tweeter is blown? I just bought one from Amazon on prime day and it sounds bad over 40 percent. Distorted treble.
@@FullForce1972 I just got my Charge 5 today and noticed the same thing , It might be a deal breaker for me as it annoys me to no end , I might send it back.
You CAN input audio through usb c in service mode.
Can you do charge 3 vs flip 5? Theyre both 20 watt speakers it would be really interesting
The cons about charge 5 in my opinion is that the rubber feet at the bottom of the speaker tends to get wear out after a long time, i d rather get the charge 3 and 4 rubber feet as it doesnt wear out unlike the charge 5
does it sound clear or muffed? İ prefer clear, do you suggest
@@mustafafkaya well its sure is clearer than the charge 4, i am not so sure if its better than the charge 3 though, i guess it has a bit more deeper bass then the charge 3?
I like the oversized logo, looks better imo
Bought this speaker today for $120 plus tax. This speaker gets LOUD! I like it so far. Not sure my neighbors do though
Do you have any info on the connect vs connect+ issue concerning Stereo mode in synced speakers? I heard stereo-mode is no longer an option with connect+ models.
GYMCADDY is your charge 5 a tl or nd?
I’m just trying to sell my JBL Boombox so I can get one of these. Nobody wants the boombox… 😭
I literally went to Best Buy 2 days ago and bought the Charge 5 open box for $159.99. Nothing was damaged. The charger and everything was there

When will it connect with wireless microphones?
Charge 5 is an absolute fuckin beast of a bluetooth speaker, almost beats the extreme ,if you dont believe me ,buy one, you wont be disappointed, i know its hard to just buy something on a whim per say, but trust me, its the best 250 i ever spent( i live in canada so prices are more expensive and i bought it brand new without even realizing there was the 4 cause i hsd my flip 5 before that)
Just upgraded got the charge 5 after having flip 4 for the longest. And man the charge 5 knocks!!💪🏼💪🏼
Which one would u recommend me to buy
JBL charge 5
UE boom 3
UE mega boom 3
I got the camo charge 5 in camo. I've seen other reviews with pics, and the camo pattern was different on all of them!
@David Miles hey, question for ya. Can you still play music while it is charging? I’m looking to get a speaker to put in my old Jeep for off reading, and would like to not have to worry about if the battery is charged.
@@stewartj3407 Yes, it does, keeps a charge too!
Does it have a microphone?
For calling
Great job!
Thank you for that kind of informative video!
would you still get this over the JBL xtreme 2 if they were the same price?
I live in Canada and the cheapest I can get a charge 5 is 350 dollars but the charge 4 I can easily get under 200 dollars so I am going to stick with the charge 4
My charge 3 is 4 years old and start to crack... maybe it’s time for the 5.
Got the charge 5. it's the best small speaker, bar none. the bass is fenomenal.

I am contemplating to invest in JBL Charge 5 or HK Onyx Studio 6. Which one is more recommended in terms of overall quality sound? Thanks in advance for the kind reply. Stay safe.
This comparaison is a no brainer. Studio 6 has litteraly a subwoofer in it 😅
Which is the red colour aux cable that you're using?
Ok so only one question charge 5 or xtreme 3 size does not matter money too which is beter
Literally just got the charge 5, it's actually my first speaker
Congrats! JBL is a good brand. I have a jbl partybox 710 it is a fucking BEAST. Also have the flip 4. They're all great speakers 😊
And I just got the Charge 4. Damn. The timing.
Dude I bought the Pulse 5 and the thing never finished charging. The last segment of light always blinked and the cable was always providing 6.4w of power. Filed for replacement and same story. Does this happen to you on any of the JBL speakers?
What color of the charge 5 is that
My charge 3 just dropped from the stairs and now it's crackling and cutting sound :/... I've used it for years and really loved the thing. Used it daily mainly to listen to TH-cam vids while I did other stuff tbh and not really for music.
Man the charge 5 is fugly with that huge logo. The metal red logo plate on the charge 3 and 4 is so much better
Mono sound brings me back to the 60's.
No, it harks back to the 40's.
Instead of charging a phone could I charge the JBL speaker by using its own charger built-in
🤣🤣 i was thinking the same at first ngl ahaha. But tbh i think it all might be from the same battery source so it doesn't really matter cause how much battery life is left is it. If that makes sense aha
@@JaCrispy1904 😅🤣💯
Do we know if we can personalize it?
You can with the app adjust the EQ
I use the the JBL portable app and 2 C5's with each speaker playing separate right and left channel true stereo sound. amazing!
Got the charge 5 and wow it's amazing I like it I had it for about 4 months and then got a deal I couldn't pass up for another one so I got two and now wow
Soo quick question how many watts total with the 5 noticed you said 10 and 3 seeing if I'm missing something
40watts
im listening to this on my new charge 5 and impressed
I just bought mine yesterday, and it was starving a little bit, so I decided to put it back in the box that it came out of, and the sound is on a different level...
I bought jbl clip 3 in 2018 and its still rock solid...
I do recommend jbl speakers.
But one of my friend buy this beast i love it man.
Tmrw will go for buying dfntly
Got one recently as it has a a great discount. The removal of headphone jack is a bummer as I'm planning to use it for my 90s Panasonic portable CD player but it's fine for me as there's another solution for that. Overall, it sounded great for all my music needs.
Charge 5 definitely better
The battery at max volume lasts 4 hours on a full charge. its normal or i have a problem
Can’t they make a half audio Jack half usb 8 outport? Like they do it with everything else I don’t see how it can’t do the same ya know?
I recently broke my charge 4 and the charge 5 just came out. Perfect timing. I got the last one at best buy I was so happy
How did you break it lol
Hi there GC, Is there any differences between TL,CS and GG serial number of jbl speakers like every other reviewers talking about .?
This turkey hasn't got a clue about TL etc.
Can you do the charge 5 vs the xtreme 3 video? Or maybe a quick opinion
I bought the charge 5 to take it on the go with me, but i thought like, what if i add like 2 rings on top of the charge 5 just like the xtreme 3, bc i already have a shoulderstrap that i use for other things, could that work?
I support all the upgrades u requested for jbl also they kill the sound game so why not try just make the speaker more versatile
Bluetooth has been used for more than 15 years, hence: no need for cables. Let it go already! Fight me.
If only there was some sort of adapter or something to convert 3.5mm to bt for all the people who will always find something to justify hanging on to their outdated device. 🤔

JBL is done getting any business from me for the foreseeable future, after changing the multi-speaker connection protocol once again. The move is anti-consumer to put it in the lightest way.
@Dale Cummer Highly doubt that one. Just one person chiming in on their absolute goofball move every year
