I think in an ideal situation, condenser is the way to go. Buy in a small, untreated room, dynamic is better for sound isolation, and doesn't pick up as much room noise. With a couple dynamics, you can sound pretty decent in any environment. Nice video! I thought the sm57 sounded better regardless.

the sm57 just has that familiar sound used in about a million songs... reminds me of the 70's

The fact that I can hear so well with both that I can hear you breathing, tells me they both do fine... and sound great. 👍🏼✨

I think I lean toward the AT2020 just a bit. It sounds a little crisper to my ear. The name also reminds me of the Empire Strikes Back!

I just finished my own tests between my AT2020 and my SM57 recording my Les Paul into my Fender Blues Jr Tweed. It was night and day for me. For amp recording the SM57 won hands down. The AT2020 sounded thin and the SM57 had a full in your face sound. I might just start putting out guitar videos again...after a 10 years hiatus.

Agree with you. The SM57 is best,. Luckily, I own one that i've used for many years on the road, so now intend to use it for recording Thanks for a great video.

Great video! I think AT2020 sounds cleaner & deeper (bass notes are richer) and high notes not too crispy. Regards!!!

SM57 for me. It's been around for decades. Don't fix what isn't broken.

Yes, I just started making a story board to do a video on using 2 Mics, so that will be my next vid. I just got a Reaper license, so I have a bit of a learning curve right now...

AI the only one to hear more room noise from the SM57?

I don't know how, but my AT2020 sounds like shit with all the settings in the World.

AT2020 was the first mic I purchased. I recorded a few times with it, but to my ears the recorded sound was just "OK". I eventually saved up enough to replace it with RODE NT1. Been happy with the NT1.

You're probably speaking into the back of it, or maybe you don't have a pop filter.
