Wilko's rhythm guitar on this is truly mesmerising. Apparently simple but fiendishly difficult to reproduce with a Pete Townsend like mastery over simple power chords and their dynamics. With Lee Brilleaux's vocals and with the solid underpinning of John B Sparks and The Big Figure provides an overall sound that represents Dr. Feelgood at their very best.
I believe it was LEES stage act to look scruffy , i would have been happy to wash his clothes ,, it may have spoilt his image ,, wearing clean clothes x
@folginator: I was fortunate to see them live, with this line-up, several times during my misspent youth and they were incredible live. The pure energy and stage presence of all 4 guys, the throbbing music, talents of all of them and the contained fury and passion of Brilleaux melded into an intoxicating mix when seen up close. Even now after nearly 4 decades hearing these great songs takes me right back to being in a jam packed pub hearing great music by great performers.
The One (and the very last) song I ever tried to sing when recording it with my friends.... our bass player banging on my drums and me vocalizing... well, kids you know.. After 35 years the tape was found... not so Brilliauxant but - oh so honest and with a 16-year-old-feeling!
I could have easily like this band, but i grew up in the 80s instead.INXS was one of my favourite bands, though there early songs were born out Australian pub seen. I never knew this band till now. Only Indie bands come close to this band these days.
Peerless Feelgoods! Maximum Rhythm n Blues! Seen them n Sinner Boy Rory the Irish Wizard Gallagher more time's than any other Bands! Malpractice my favourite Album! Down by the Jetty Recorded in Mono! Superb Musicians All Legends All one love Rasta Jake Bonnie Scotland the Brave
Someone told me he was on invisible railway tracks. Makes sense. Met him at a club venue in Portsmouth where I was working. Between soundcheck & gig he was laid along a bench with cup of tea & reading a paperback. Happy to chat about the book & the night's set. Friend of mine told me he was her English teacher at school. "Mr.Wilkinson" as he then was used to sit cross-legged on top of the teacher's desk. They loved him.
Dave i adore this band they are a set of genius guys , what a sound they make , In the beginning Lee was rather smart , may be hes in the male mental pause ??? its not an image i like x
R.I.P. Wilko Johnson, a true original.
The REAL Dr Feelgood.
Both Lee and Wilko were utterly fantastic and would be very current now. Superb

I was somewhere in the middle of those at the front of the stage. Amazing gig at the good old Kursaal.
Unique rhythm guitar sound. One of a kind.
Amazing band.
'Lee wore a suit that had definitely been lived in'. Wilko.

rolling blues
oh hell yes.......
The Feelgoods version is straight from the Johnny Kidd version, rather than the Bo Diddley original. Which is allowed.
Wilko was a big Pirates /Mick Green fan. The band was named after their cover of Dr Feelgood song.
The best version
I used to think Wilco on stage was a cross between Chuck Berry's duck walk and Angus Young of AC/DC,but then I thought "Nah,it's Wilco".
You lost me at "Wilco".

The vocals on this track seem to be overdubbed... It was probably a bad mike or a cable since Lee got a new one at the end of the video...
RIP Wilko.
I would have been happy to wash Lees suite , however it may have taken the spice out of his image ,,,, WE dont want that xx i adore these guys lolx

i think
What a dirty suit he's wearing! Does he sleep in back street allies between shows?
Vincent ,,in his early years he was rather smart , he may be in the male menopause ,, or it may be a bit of a stage show ?
It looks like he wore it to change the oil in his car!
..blimey wilko..what were you thinking leaving this band?..
