This is a great video I’m considering living on a boat as I live along the Manchester ship canal ( grater Manchester ) I have grew up around them baisically seeing them every day I love them and I’m not a boat person my intrest is in aviation but I love barges non the less I’m currently on the second day of a 4 day barge higher with my family and I’m loving it hopefully the boat price are cheaper when I get my barge ( I’m 15 currently ) thanks for the info :).
There are many folk out there who believe living on a boat must be really cheap and one long dawdle. It can be less expensive than living on land but does have its own costs. @@TaylorsAboardaNarrowboat
We love canal life even with all our ups and downs. It's a shame you can't persuade your wife. We are lucky as all three of us love the life. There is nothing better than living in nature waking up looking out the window and seeing all sorts of wild birds on our feeders. Very special.
Not sure you are right on the gas usage mate - we get through one every 6 months. It’s only for the cooker but unless you’ve an old boat with something like an alde gas boiler I’m not sure many would use that much.
Like I say, we don't use any, I guess it can vary a lot. I did a little bit of research, and that's the number I got. Now that I think about it, though, it does seem a little off
Yeah, I use a half empty 6kg propane from my yogurt pot, on a 4 burner home hob since September, and it's still going strong. Cheaper than my elecy rangemaster cooker to run.
I use 6-7 a year having a morco instant hot water system … boats like mine with aircooled engines don’t have calorifiers but we do have hot water all the time 😊
Great vlog, as always! A couple of questions for you, if you don't mind. 1) Has daddy Taylor done a vlog on how to service the boat? I need to know this information so that would be super useful. & B) I'll be working full time from my boat so need good wi-fi, do you think your set-up is good enough for me roaming around? Starlink has been suggested many times by many people but it's £££££! (I'm also not keen on giving Elon my £, he's got more than enough already! 🤣). Thank you Taylors!
I think there is a vlog out of Andy servicing Olive. Take a look on the vlogs. Also the set up we have for WiFi seems to suit us the majority of the time. We have a router with a phone sim in from Three which only costs us £17 a month once the router has been bought which cost us £100 in 2020. Have spoken to many people with starlink but it's something like £75 a month which is very expensive. We have back up with my phone which is Vodafone and I have unlimited data so if three is bad we put it on myself hotspot. Always handy to have 2 network but I would say apart from the Llangollen canal Three is brilliant. Hope this helps. Kind regards Diane😊
@@TaylorsAboardaNarrowboat thank you Diane, I really appreciate that info. Yes, StarLink is very pricey, it’s costs about £500 for the gubbins too! Will definitely check out the servicing vlog, I’m so unfamiliar with that kind of thing & it looks like a necessity when money isn’t falling from the trees! Have a great day! Claire xxx
LOVE what you're doing from California..Very interesting, beautiful scenery, fascinating and we appreciate the historical knowledge of the over 2,000 miles of canals..My wife, kids and I really like the way you explain and share things. However didn't get the length of Olive or how old she is..Keep up the GOOD work my friend..Peace😊
Olive is 70 feet long. The longest narrowboat you can get is the old working boats which are 72 feet long so we aren't far of that. She was built in 2008 and was originally an ex black Prince hire boat.
Not sure on that Steve but Josh has included the rise in April in the cost. Hopefully it won't be too much more. How you enjoying land life. Hope Diane and the dogs are well? Love Diane x
That's phone sim put into a router with unlimited data. It's with Three and covers most of the canal network brilliantly apart from some of the Llangollen then we use my Vodafone on hotspot.😊
A little mistake in the video is the figure I gave for the amount of gas bottles. Boaters go through. It can vary massively. It's more like 2-4.
I have a morco instant hot water so you were right with the gas for people who have aircooled engines like mine that don’t have a calorfier Josh 😊
Josh you are a natural salesman, I mean that as a compliment mate 🫵👍👍
Loving the new theme Vlog. Josh you are a born presenter sir. Absolutely professionally put together. 10/10.
Wow what a lovely comment I will pass it onto Josh. Kind regards Diane x
Great Informative vlog. Like you presented it too Josh ..keep up the good work 👏
Thanks for the kind comment 😊
Such a great video. A great idea to tell people the costs of canal boat life.
It's been a long time coming. Glad you enjoyed it 😊
Well done Josh and thank you for the excellent information. As always well researched and put out .
Thank you glad you liked it.

His prices are fairly dynamic, ie wrong!
One of your best ever vlogs. Really enjoyed how you put it together. Great job.
Thank you so much.😊
Great video Josh. 👍😊
Thanks Chris glad you enjoyed it 😊
Thanks, Josh, I know this will interest a lot of people :)
Let's hope everyone enjoys it. We have been wanting to do a vlog like this for ages and just getting around to doing it after 3 years.

Thanks 😊
Good video Josh. I like the idea of canal boat life. Dont think the other half would entertain it though

How much does repainting cost?
How will the rolling 25% constant cruiser charge as shown on trevs travels affect annual costs ?

£17/m for internet is good. Is that unlimited data with one sim? xxxx

Your 13kg gas will last 3 months. Average 4 cylinders if £40 quid £160.
That's correct 👌 I see now that my statistics were a bit out 👍
