  • The Strada dell' Assietta is one of best known offroad tracks in the Piedmont region and a good place to start our 6-day off-road journey in this part of Italy. An unfortunate crash left us with a broken bike which we had to tow back to camp but with the kindness and help of other riders in the camp we were able to fix the BMW HPN that same night to get it ride ready for the following day.
    Please find the overview of the track under following link
    www.stradadell...
    We went from west to east on the Strada dell' Assietta (SP173). As our camping ground was in Salbertrand we approached from the north through Sauze d'Oulx to meet the SP173 at C.le Basset.

    September ‘20? We did about the same tracks you did and it seems that i recall passing your group on the Assietta but then again, groups with KTM’s and BMW’s seem to be popular on these tracks. I loved all the tracks we did in that area. We will go back! So much more to explore in that area! 🤩 Though the North Cape via gravel roads in Sweden are high on the list for ‘21, ran into you’re video’s in search for tire experiences, E07 is a potential candidate on the list for the next trip, now Anakee adventure on my 1250 and I like them a lot, superb on road and dry offroad but they slide a lot on wet offroad. With the plan for heading to the North Cape I think it will be more wet surface so I’m exploring to find a good set of tires for the next trip.

      Hi Peter - good chance our paths crossed this year. The most noticable and outstanding bike was Jochen's vintage BMW HPN for sure. I want to go back again some day as well - even if we did the exact same routes it would be worth doing it allover again. The idea to travel on gravel to the North Cape sound enticing - I have not really thought it about doing it off-road. My understanding is that the last bit is pretty much straight road to the North Cape so doing it on dirt roads would certainly add some exciting to the journey. The North Cape is on the list of places to see for me (I have never been) - so thank you for this great idea! I have ridden the Anakee Adventure on a 1250 GS but only on dry roads so I cannot really compare to the E-07+ - I did not really like the Anakee Adventure on dry roads because of the soft rubber compound which I think should make this tire a bit better in wet conditions. If the off-road section is not too demanding (simple gravel) it may make sense to look at a more road-oriented option (90/10) like the Scorpion Trail 2 or Trail Attack 3 - both have good performance on wet surfaces.

    And of course, someone has to be the first who falls, that makes it easier for the others 😱

    It is a very nice gravel road, pretty easy also for unexperienced riders. Pay attention: there is a speed limit of 50km/h, Wednesdays and Saturdays are reserved for mountain bikers and hikers, usually it is open from June to October (it depends on the snow season). Sometimes the visibility can be limited so you don’t know who is behind the corner. If you have a spare afternoon, I suggest you to visit the Fortress of Fenestrelle: it is an amazing, huge military construction built in Napoleon era. Have a lot of fun! 😀

    • @MotoVibes
      @MotoVibes  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Uwe, mein Klim Anzug ist ein älteres Model der Latitidue Reihe - die sah damals der Badlands noch sehr ähnlich und war so weit ich weiß eine Stufe unter der Badlands - also etwas leichter im Aufbau ohne den Nierengurt etc. allerdings ebenfalls mit Goretex Laminat. Damals waren die Größen komplett crazy von Klim (Hose waren eher zu klein) - Ich habe eine aktuelle Badlands anprobiert - Thomas und Chris (beide im Video) haben jeweils die neue Badlands Kombi und da hat mir die Large gut gepasst (bei 1.8m). Wenn ich mir jetzt einen Anzug von Klim holen würde wäre es definitiv der aus der Badlands Serie. Mittlweile gibt es neben der Offroad Reihe von Klim auch eine Onroad Reihe - da sind die vor allem die Hosen nicht so weit geschnitten - das Pendant zur Badlands heißt da Kodiak (glaube ich). Wenn Du bei Klim bleibst wäre das eine Möglichkeit für einen engeren Schnitt. Ansonsten geht natürlich auch etwas von Stadler (die ja sogar Maßschneidern) - Stadler hat Modelle mit Goretex Laminat.

      @MotoVibes  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you Rob! The camping ground is called Gran Basco in Salberstrand. There are plenty of offroad tracks around this camping ground and it is very popular with offroad riders. The Assietta is a good entry track to get your feet wet - most parts are not very difficult - that is why we started with this one. The difficulty level increased the following days and that was in good weather conditions. Once you add rain to the mix the same tracks will get much more difficult.

    I like your videos very much - thank you for that. There is only one thing I like to criticize: I feel that you didn’t stick to the speed limit of 30km/h valid for the Assietta. It’s a privilege granted to the motorcyclists by the local government that we are allowed to ride there and we should not put it under risk by provoking people who like to protect the great nature.

    • @MotoVibes
      @MotoVibes  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Honestly I was not even aware of the 30 km/h speed limit - I did not even check my speed to be honest as I cannot go that fast on dirt. We did slow way down for every cyclist and hiker - especially because of the dry conditions and the dust.
