I never thought of it before either, and now I’m like “that’s absolute genius!” The project I’m working on requires having the drawstrings where I don’t have sim allowances, but this has definitely inspired me to make a drawstring dress or two for my next project. Thank you Isa.
I appreciate so much how you take the time with very clear instructions on how to sew this sometimes pesky fabric im so intimidated to work with. Thank you!🙏🙏🙏
Omg thank you you're a life saver! I've been needing to make my homecoming dress and wanted to do this style but didn't know how. This was a great tutorial 👍
i love these drawstring dresses but it's hard to find cotton ones on Shein most of them are synthetics, so I plan to convert the cotton ones they do sell into one! If I get better I might learn to make one from scratch! thank you for the video!
can we have shirt pattern next? its so hard to find a great pdf pattern of woman oversized shirt especially with notched collar 😩 yours are so nice and detailed 😄
Too loose is easy, run some test to sew closer to your body, that's it! Maybe wear the dress and stick pins to your liking, carefully remove the dress with the pins still on, sew on the pins placement
I love this video ! I have a question though. If I didn’t want to make the ruching along the whole dress and just wanted to do it from the hip down instead, how would you recommend going about it ?
Hi! You keep the seam allowance as such and you sew them on the entire length, but only insert the straps midway up to the waist (for instance) and sew them there instead of under the arm :)
Question- you made the straight stitch (without backstitching) in order to mark where the hem would go? Then remove it? Is it a necessary step and if so why ?❤🙏😊
Hi! Absolutely not necessary. I could have taken a ruler and I drawn a line 2 cm from the edge (to respect the seam allowance which is 2 cm wide). I bet most people don't bother measuring to respect those 2 cm and fold just like that.
Remove 1 cm off the outer edges of the pattern (there are 2 cm of seam allowances, if no drawstrings then we just want one). Then sew the sides with 1 cm of seam allowance. That's it!
How do I find the patterns for the dress?because I really want to make the dress but I can’t find a pattern for it, we’re did you get your pattern from?
Hi! Depends on your size! I've indicated the fabric yardage on Etsy, among the pictures: i.etsystatic.com/26063488/r/il/7df311/2931645258/il_1140xN.2931645258_ae7f.jpg
Oh, she's a genius! It looks so comfy and easy to make. I will definitely make this for my friend she would absolutely love this.
Yes it's both! I was surprised myself!
Wow thank you! I wanna cry cuz this is exactly what I was looking for on TH-cam and it’s so clean and precise. Now I can sew drawstrings!
So sweet! I'm so glad I could help! Thanks so much for taking the time to let me know :)
This turned out lovely! ♥️Great idea to use the side seam allowance as the tube for the ruching straps/ties! ✨⭐️
Yes it's detail that makes a big difference I find! 😘

So glad it you like it!!
Almost done making my first one!! It's a mummy dress for Halloween 🎃 It's such an easy pattern I'm already planning a more casual one for every day 💝
So glad!!!!

Thank you for this video!!
So sweet 😘😘
Thanks. This is really helpful to me
So glad, you're very welcome
Is there a specific stitch length for the zigzag stitches? Beautiful dress by the way✨
Hi! Not really... average. If it's too wide there will be space between the stitches when you pull the fabric apart
@@isainstitches Okay! Thank you so much!

@@isainstitches Thank you!

I show it a bit here, even if it's for a different garment th-cam.com/video/OgutzooAaEM/w-d-xo.html

I baste it because it's faster (thanks to the lines carved on my sewing machines)
@@isainstitches oh okay thank you very very much !! 😊❤
Damn!
You're so good❤Just gained a subscriber.
hehe thanks!!!
Really nice 😊🥰
But what sewing machine do you use please?
I use a very old Pfaff Tipmatic
What kind of fabric is best to use please? Specific names eg french Terry, viscose would be appreciated xxx
Jersey is best, 95% cotton, 5% spandex for instance, like my fabric. It's got to be stretchy, so spandex is a must.
@@isainstitches thank you very much! I'll get looking xx
How can this pattern be altered to make the dress minus the drawstrings?
Remove 1 cm off the outer edges of the pattern (there are 2 cm of seam allowances, if no drawstrings then we just want one). Then sew the sides with 1 cm of seam allowance. That's it!
@@isainstitches thank you for your reply, and thank you for your tutorials ☺️
@@shereemurphy7290 You're very welcome!
Que lindo! Parabéns.

How do I find the patterns for the dress?because I really want to make the dress but I can’t find a pattern for it, we’re did you get your pattern from?
Hi there! You can find my pattern here www.etsy.com/listing/962950072/bodycon-drawstring-mini-dress
is 1 yard of fabric enough to make this dress?
Hi! Depends on your size! I've indicated the fabric yardage on Etsy, among the pictures: i.etsystatic.com/26063488/r/il/7df311/2931645258/il_1140xN.2931645258_ae7f.jpg
Fabric name?
Cotton jersey with 5% elastan
Can you alter a bodycon dress you already have to add these rouching drawstrings!
Hi! Yes of course! Same as this dress: add some cm of seam allowance, enough to create channels for the drawstrings
finger in the nose 😂😂 never heard that before
Haha! French phrase! Means "piece of cake" 😘
Thank you so much...this was extremely helpful
So glad you liked it!
