In this video, I want to show you how to make a slip silky top. All measurements are for size S. After you cut everything following my measurements start sew pieces together. Sew side seams and don’t forget to overlock edges to prevent fraying. You also can use a zigzag stitch instead overlock.
Also cut a facing ( it’s needed for handle the rough edges on a top) and straps, sew that as well as shown in the video. I use a reversing needle to reverse the straps. Put the straps at the front and back and also put the facing, make a stitch. After that put an edge stitch on facing to prevent rolling out the facing. The last thing is the hem, just double turn the rough edge and put a stitch.

I really struggle with fabrics like this! I'm getting so much better, and I have a walking foot attachment now (definitely recommend, makes working with knits and slippery fabrics way easier) but I always dread the hemming! I'm just so bad at making neat hems 😭

For those having trouble with the instructions, I suggest watching the video on 0.5 speed. It greatly helps watch her movements and exactly what she is doing. :) I hope this helps

I.. made it. I literally just learnt how to sew a little bit starting from this quarantine. And I made my first project!!!! Even though it’s still not perfectly fitted to me😅 it’s so tight but it already looks fine to me, I just need to resize it a little bit more. But overall this is an incredible tank top i love it so much. And also i combined the other video where you have the silk + lace tanktop for the measurement and this video for the tank top itself. Thank you!
Do it again. Add more to where it was tight. Sewing for yourself is an amazjng skill. Keep it up .
I suddenly feel powerful learning how to do this 😂. My wardrobe is going to be filled with 5 to 6 silk slip tops now 😂🙈

Can you make the top based on the non-instructions? There’s no pattern. Without pattern you can’t make one unless you measure yourself and make custom pattern for yourself, which not many people can do.

Once she's cut the first part out, you can see her pattern and what's she's doing quite clearly. The problem is, she gives no explanation in the beginning, just tells us to draw lines and her chalk isn't even showing on the fabric. Using either a premade pattern or first draing her pattern out while explaining what she's doing and why, would go a long way towards us understanding.

If you purchase patterns, this top is a lot like the Ogden Cami by a company called True Bias. The instructions that come with that pattern are fantastic and you’ll understand this video much more clearly. I found the instructions to be really concise 🙂

This is a beautiful top but you give no explanation in the beginning, just tell us to draw lines and your chalk isn't even showing on the fabric. If you used premade pattern (paper or even a top you already own) or first drawing your pattern out while explaining what you're doing and why, would go a long way towards us understanding.I love the finished result and once you cut out the first part of your top, I could understand what was going on but at first I was completely lost.
It only works for one size. That's the main issue. Im not sure how to extrapolate for a larger size

@@Annathetailor I loved the top! I already made the pattern on my notebook and on paper. I have a question, when I cut the top, do I need to give 5 cm to the waist area? Or do I just cut it exactly with the 20 cm of the pattern?
Too complicated for a beginner like me especially when you don’t explain to us at the beginning you’re just drawing lines that aren’t even showing I guess I’ll comeback to this later when I’m a better at sewing than I am right now.

Did you cut on the bias?? I saw straps cut on bias. But it looks like you folded the fabric to cut on bias throughout
