I remember the Vong were fairly controversial back in the day, especially with the killing of Chewbacca right from the start. If Disney has showed us anything, it's that the Vong were the actual way to go as they were a real threat and our heros did not have plot armor to protect them. I remember reading the books and it was almost like a real ongoing crisis.
Ikr the vong felt like an actual MASSIVE threat that had never been seen to this scale in galactic history and to me felt like a true sequel era to the original trilogy and clone war eras
Too bad they erased the Yuuzhan Vong War from Star Wars canon. This is what the Sequel Trilogy should've been; the biggest conflict in Star Wars history, an epic clash between all the factions of the Star Wars galaxy and the Yuuzhan Vong.

There's ways they could've improved the Yuuzhan Vong to make them fit better into Star Wars canon, but they didn't even try.
The Star Wars galaxy was so desperate to save themselves, factions threw away their rivalries and decided to bond together against a alien species, I love it.

Anakin solos death was magnificent. Chewbaccas defiant last roar before the moon was brought down on sernpidal. As a teenage kid, I couldn't put the books down...the yuuzhan vong couldn't be felt in the force until the very end; because they were from a different galaxy, the force that Luke sky walker talk at the Jedi academy didn't apply to the vong, the vong saw the Jedi as powerful but nothing more that magicians and affronts to their gods. Pain to the vong was pleasure to us. Every vong ship and vessel was living; from world ships to coralskippers, to the living crab armor they wore that could deflect lightsabers, to the living lambant crystals anakin solo found and used to make his light saber with...the first lightsaber that used a living crystal...anakin solo also was the one to start learning how to sense the vong in the force. Jacen found the balance in the force between the vong universe and the Star Wars universe. Thanks for the Star Wars content, just found your stuff and subbed right away. I think you should do something weird, chose any ship, and both sides have the exact same ship. The catch is that the crews are different, such as Old Republic vs the Empire, or Rebels Vs even the Covenant. Star wars factions, of course will be able to use force users associated with the faction. AI from halo would be used as well.

You forgot the biggest battle of the whole NJO. The battle for the story group to keep RA Salvatore alive after rabid fans sent death letters to him for killing Chewie. Lol
I'm partial to The Battle of Borleias. Nothing beats Wedge and Tycho casually walking through the base cheerfully telling Jaina Solo about how they are drawing the Vong ground forces forward into a designed spot for some Lusankya Orbital Bombardment. It's a great Bromance moment. X-Wing series was always my favorite so I'm partial to the Wedge based books.

I'm sure the brute strength of a normal Spartan is enough to deal with a squad of Clone Commandos. I love Delta Squad and all but the pure (un)natural strength of a Spartan is absurd. The only things I see taking Spartans on in Stat Wars are Wookies, Trandoshans (beefy ones), and Assassin/Battle Droids 😎

From a distance the assault rifle against T-60 power armor is like throwing eggs at a brick wall, on the other hand the gatling laser for it's size can be quite accurate and if the shield is disabled the armor is useless against that many laser beams.
The Vong made some strategic errors-sending such a large portion of their fleet to Mon Calamari, falling for Ackbar's trap at Ebaq 9, as well as their thrashing campaigns against the Yevetha and Imperial Remnant.
