These things will keep pushing even if you sometimes neglect the maintenance. My 3VZE has been through Hell and back and still running strong
I have the same one a 91 3vze awd i slid into a curb today 25 to 35 hop it i thought the car was done for started right up and no leaks besids my coolint like i had and i think it slowed my leak fram is straight metal and sup is unreal it got home with a blown tire no over heating nothing starts right up and ready for me
I've been running mine with a blown head gasket only pressurizes the radiator and has a cool down of 30 mins I just make sure I top off with water during spring summer months
I have a 3vze and its been nothing but a shitter. Blew a head gasket, fixed it and one drive later the fuel pressure damper at the very back of the motor starts leaking onto the exhaust. Sold it, wont ever touch another Toyota. Never lost money on a vehicle before this one
must be a jeepboy@@connorleyland8695
@@connorleyland8695right on. Good thing you are young and have plenty of time to lose more money in cars 😂😂
These trucks don't have a steering rack. They have a recirculating ball steering box that rarely fails.
And speaking from experience as 2nd owner of a 2nd Gen 5sp SR5 over the last 31 years, toyoDa steer box or the pump has never failed. Only running Valvoline Dexron III and no synthetic. 1oz of AT205 reseal helps.
Theres not many people that care about the 2nd gen 4runner become the engine but i love mine!
Same
@@Trash-Castle same. i love mine as well. :)
I can tell you have never owned one of these with the 3VZE and 5sp manual, and are not qualified to give a report on this vehicle. It does not have McPherson struts, and rear end sag can be remedied with cargo coils. This vehicle does not have rack & pinion steering, it has the steering gear box and power steer pump, which requires non-synthetic Dexron III conventional fluid from Toyota or Valvoline Dexron III. Do not mix synthetic with conventional fluid. Small leaks can be remedied with usually 1oz of ATP 205 reseal. How do I know? I am the second owner of a 1990 for 31 years and I have never needed to replace the factory steering pump or the gearbox after 310K miles. After I bought it coming off a lease (yes with a 5sp tranny) , I put 250K miles on mine. The mistakes common are putting inferior parts as replacements, which fail usually within a year. OEM new or decent used salvage OEM is a better choice depending on what fails. Sometimes it is better to re-build the failed part if its rebuild-able.
Very valuable experience information. Thank you.
the second gen 4runners are excellent. like any other vintage vehicle, keeping up with maintenance is important. the only "problem" that i have encountered in the 20 years that i have owned my 1990 4Runner 3.0 with the auto is the starter contact issue. there was/is a toyota service bulletin, but unfortunately, i had to find out after 3 independent shops mis-diagnosed the starter as the problem. my second gen 4Runner serves me well and i will keep it indefinitely.
Talks about sagging rear suspension on this model which has rear COIL springs and goes on to illustrate the problem with some other model showing LEAF SPRINGS. Has he actually looked underneath the 4Runner?
The robot overlord has spoken !
The 3.0 is the one with head gasket issues, not the 22R.
The 22R has been known to have its share of head gasket issues also, you heard him talk about having a cast iron block with an aluminum head leading to expansion issues, that applies to both these engines.
The 22R is one of the best engines ever. The 3.slow is the worst Toyota engine ever. As a 3.slow engine owner I can confirm it has blown a head gasket and it sucks….
@@FlintnChirtas a 3.4 swapped 2nd gen walk in 22r is definitely not the best it has head gasket issues as well as the 3.0
You forgot the sunroof button drying & breaking 😂😂 had to look up for a tutorial on how to fix & close sunroof window & hella others went through that & they also said the rear window will fail luckily I haven't gone that far yet
do you have the tutorial for share?
Also: with the button,do you mean the button to move the sunroof back and forth or do you mean this one button next to the one I just descirbed ?
greetz:)
Its the small/hard one that gets stuck & you cant close the sunroof because it broke so you gotta remove it & it will let you close & open like new. I could not fix that piece so i glued it back just for looks@noidea2655
2nd gen 2.4 diesel any good?
I own a 2.nd gen with a 3.0 diesel kzt engine, any problems there known?
Turbocharged prechamber diesel so I reckon the same issues as with other turboed prechamber diesels, i.e. filthy EGRs and sensitive to bad or excessive tuning. Delete the EGR and don't tickle the injection pump too hard.
Other than that, change oil and coolant at mandated intervalls, change out any seals when you're poking about, etc.
Why my 4x4 no working i have 1995 Toyota 4runner v6 3.o
could be the actuator.
I have the same one and I have a question. Mine has a hard time starting and I use premium gas. Should I use regular 3 dollar unleaded???
@@FlintnChirt yeah, dont used premium...
@@MorganMcGinnis I don’t no more
In spanish?😢
Is this some robot talking? Thumbs down!
The 3vze is a shit motor, no power, awful on gas, terribly unreliable
2nd Gen 4runner only good looking squatted truck 😂
