I’ve always wanted to try night diving! Seams so fun and relaxing, though it does scare me I hate when it’s so dark and it’s just like nothing less in all directions, but so many creatures out. I always know it’s good when you upload your amazing content.
Night diving is one of those things that seems like it would be scary when you imagine it, but when you are actually doing it, you are having a lot of fun.
The fact that moths and bugs vs a light is to plankton in the ocean is fascinating! but kind of gross too haha. Never thought I'd see someone feeding a coral haha that was a great scene!
The double hose is back! That is the Jonathan Bird that we all remember. Though looks like you retired your force fins. One of these days I will go for a night dive again, I did one in Cozumel. It was quite scary for me, even as a cave diver.
I didn't really retire the Force Fins. I still wear them a lot, but on our Belize trip, I was also cave diving, and I didn't want to bring two sets of fins.
Went here on my 10 year anniversary. You want to know what comes out at night? Bloodworms. Lots and lots of bloodworms. Wriggling, swarming bloodworms. Freaked everyone out afterwards with the videos.
The music, editing and commentary, not to mention the creatures, is all beautiful and well put together! Question: Is there any evidence that those bright lights cause more harm than good? Like those fish at the start have learned to use them to their advantage. Does that disrupt the natural food chain and natural behaviors? I know in the Deep Dark there’s a possibility it could cause some issues since they’re not used to the lights?
Some animals will use the divers' lights to their advantage, others will just hide. This is an open ocean environment where it goes from day to night every day, so all the animals are used to seeing light.
I've always wanted to try night-diving. How did you get into scuba diving? Your videos always inspired my love for the water. Every video is like a mini reality show about marine animals. 😁🐠🐟🐡
We are experimenting with Saturday releases instead of Sunday. Years ago, we always did Saturday releases, then we tried Sunday and they seemed to do a little better. But now we are not sure if we were right the first time.
It's true. The reason is because they know I am a friend. 😎. I have a professional relationship with the fish. I don't eat them, and they don't eat me.
Only a month. We ALWAYS release a new episode at least once a month. We have not missed a month since 2012. However, over the next few months, we have 2 episodes scheduled per month.
0:37 Oops... Mexico and Guatemala * Never mind. Looking at its position on the map, you could also say it's between Mexico and Honduras (despite not bordering the latter)
You are technically correct, Guatemala does have a little bit of Caribbean coastline. Belize is physically located between Mexico and Guatemala. But when you look at a map, Honduras being much bigger and sticking out into the Caribbean more, Belize looks more like it's halfway between Mexico and Honduras. Anyway, when we do these maps, we are just trying to give people a general idea where something is, not directions! 🤣

Isn't it pointing bright light at them makes them temporary blind
Tarpon can actually live in both salt and freshwater.
but the principal octopus food are crustaceans and molluscs.
They love to hunt fish in the reef at night.
