Yeah it is looking amazing down there!!! Plenty of entertainment up close and in the distance! Super keen to get the macro cam out there soon too! Blowing bubbles is the best form of therapy that's for sure 😜
Hafa Adai! I just ran into your video here. It looks really great. Thank you for taking this video and show casing for all of us how our island beaches, corals, and fish habitat used to look. Things have changed in these past 10 years. We now are overcrowded with illegal immigrants coming in from China thru Saipan and with the help of Saipan or Northern Marianas and their boats. And our beaches are no longer as beautiful or pristine. But we hope that one day a true government will discover who on Guam and Saipan are the Cartels that are bring these people in. But once again. Thank you for this wonderful video footage of what once was and will hopefully soon be again. Si Yu’us Ma’ase. Adios! 🇺🇸🇬🇺🫡☮️🙏
Awww it's so good getting out there more! Arlo and Filly love the underwater vids too hey... I think for this episode Arlo said as he was watching it - "this is good stuff" LOL
The first time I went scuba diving was on a Discover dive off Port Douglas, around 1995 or so. It was awesome! Giant clams! Wildly colorful coral everywhere! Nothing can compare to that first ever scuba dive in Australia over the Great Barrier Reef, before it all got bleached. I couldn't tell if it was your GoPro camera or if the coral was getting bleached, but your video was VERY high contrast and made a lot of the shadows pitch black and washed out the colors. I think you either need to reprocess this video into something with less contrast and to bring out the colors, or, take a video with a better camera that has an inherently high dynamic range.
Hi yes diving the Great Barrier Reef back in the 90's would have been some of the most impressive coral reefs in the world! Areas are recovered now but it will never be what it once was. ALl this footage was filmed only on a GoPro so there's only so much you can do with the colours in editing especially at 30m depth... but the corals here are still very healthy. We are filming on a much higher quality camera underwater now that the pandemic has ended and we can get things here (GoPro was an excellent option then as we could post them)! Cheers to you, fellow diver and underwater lover!
Wow! Are we divers? YES! Absolutely loved the video, and love Uepi Point…. Our family watches your videos religiously every week! Really enjoying watching the house come together too….. Our two younger boys are doing their OW this week, and we’ll get back there ASAP! Give our regards to Grant and Jill -
It is so good having you watch from home - knowing there's people out there who fully understand how beautiful Uepi Point is... we can't wait to have you come back with the children to dive. How fantastic they are getting certified!! Well done... and happy new year.. Let's hope this is our year!!
@@TheIslandLifeofUs maybe your viewers would like to see a video from behind the scenes on the editing stuff like the programs and techniques etc. I’d be interested to see that.
Yeah I have thought a few times about sharing the process.. I am still learning heaps and underwater editing is a beast of topic but definitely on the cards down the road... I have found a few really simple edits that make massive improvements... AND... there is a lot to be said for new GoPro Hero 10 and what it is capable of for a very simple underwater action cam!
Was so awesome spending the last week with you. 🥰 10 epic dives, amazing food, and even better company. 🥰 So glad I got to do a dive with the two of you! Love you guys loads, hopefully see you again soon. Just sorry I had to spend half my time on the phone for work. 😒
It was a pleasure having you here bud!! Make sure you're watching on Tuesday for your cameo!!!! It was a great week... too short... too busy ... so we will have to do it all again ASAP!
I am so excited to see this-- this has always been both Mandy and my favorite in all the world dive-we did a number of dives at Uepi and have tried to explain them to our friends-now we can finally show them. Happy New Year to all at Uepi Dorn and Mandy
oohhh wonderful!!! Uepi Point is so incredibly unique, even in this area... the amount of fish and everything else in one site is just 👌🏼.... thanks for watching and sharing!!! Lots of love and HNY from the big Uepi family x
My wife and I set a goal in 2022 to get scuba certified. We recently completed the online portion of the PADI open water course and are doing the practical parts of the course on Royal Caribbean’s Harmony of the Sea cruise ship. The open water dives will take place in the Caribbean at St. Marteen and St. Thomas. We always enjoying snorkeling in the Caribbean and wanted to take the experience to the next level. What was the water temp on your dive?
Incredible goal for the year and you’re doing it 🙌🏼 sounds absolutely amazing!! Our water temp is usually 28-30 degrees Celsius so nice and comfortable in minimal swim wear 😂
I love watching diving videos. Yours is spectacular. We are starting to take pictures and want to do video as well. what depth were you at? The lighting is amazing, which brings out the colors. Is the lighting natural, or what are you using? Any suggestions on lighting, filters, or cameras would be helpful. We each have 150 dives, but very little experience in videography. Don't want to break the bank.
well done....again. long term freediver here. your house reef looks really healthy and vibrant. would love to come visit and explore as soon as the solomon islands opens up to travelers. if you guys have any info on traveling and what is required to get to Uepi, that might be a good subject to cover.... how can people get to you guys???
We love freediving so much!! I (Katie) am really excited to improve on my free dive abilities this year.. big goals there. There reef is in beautiful condition for sure and I love this question about how to actually get to Uepi... we overlook it because we live it every day but I think many of our viewers from far away would love that! Thanks 🤙🏼
Get to Brisbane, from there you get flights to Honiara, and from there a short but beautifully scenic flight to Seghe, and then a boat ride to Uepi from the Seghe 'parking lot' :-)
wow it must be so strange not having dived for so long and I know many are in the same position due to the pandemic and restrictions on normal life... I am sorry for that 😞 There are still many black tip, white tip and tawny nurse sharks around, the occasional great hammer, scalloped hammerheads. Just not on this particular day in paradise! Swimming the shallow reef on Uepi you're very much guaranteed to see black tips!

Yeah it is looking amazing down there!!! Plenty of entertainment up close and in the distance! Super keen to get the macro cam out there soon too! Blowing bubbles is the best form of therapy that's for sure 😜
haha you looked Okay out there 😜 haha
happy new year! incredible viz.
Was an incredible dive all round!! Happy New Year!!
hi Louisa
Adios! 🇺🇸🇬🇺🫡☮️🙏
Loved this so much! Such amazing underwater footage. So good to see all the fishies I remember ! Finn is a huge fan too :)
Awww it's so good getting out there more! Arlo and Filly love the underwater vids too hey... I think for this episode Arlo said as he was watching it - "this is good stuff" LOL
Happy new year my sweet baby
Same to you!
Impressive underwater footage! You guys are getting good at this videography stuff!
Cool!! Thanks Duncan! Learning something with every edit that is for sure!
10 epic dives, amazing food, and even better company.
Nice video
Thanks.. it is such a magical world below the surface!
I am so excited to see this-- this has always been both Mandy and my favorite in all the world dive-we did a number of dives at Uepi and have tried to explain them to our friends-now we can finally show them.
Happy New Year to all at Uepi
Dorn and Mandy
oohhh wonderful!!! Uepi Point is so incredibly unique, even in this area... the amount of fish and everything else in one site is just 👌🏼.... thanks for watching and sharing!!! Lots of love and HNY from the big Uepi family x
Hii I am from India. The Short's u taken in underwater is really amazing dude and the background music just tempting our mind dude 😍😍😍
Awesome! Thank you!
Our water temp is usually 28-30 degrees Celsius so nice and comfortable in minimal swim wear 😂
enjoy man :) good luck
IANTD certified, but haven't dived over 2 years now...
I remember seeing a lot of black tips and white tips while at Uepi, where did they go? :)
wow it must be so strange not having dived for so long and I know many are in the same position due to the pandemic and restrictions on normal life... I am sorry for that 😞 There are still many black tip, white tip and tawny nurse sharks around, the occasional great hammer, scalloped hammerheads. Just not on this particular day in paradise! Swimming the shallow reef on Uepi you're very much guaranteed to see black tips!
Have you dived in the Philippine tubattahah reefs?
No we have not... Predominantly around the Solomons 🤙🏽
I know its a hard decision for you guys . Love to ya all and we miss you guys like crazy 😜
Thanks Kimmy... it is out of our hands now actually 🥺 we are safe though so that's what really matters xxxx sending you all the biggest virtual hugs
So, not much bleaching of the coral from global warming? How does this area compare to the best of the pre-bleached Great Barrier Reef?
