i like this interview, i think it shows Marks sense of humour, also its so true that britain was so obsessed with musicians having an image, thats what i loved about them, it was the music not how they looked.
Paul was really good at acting as a bridge throughout press interviews. I’ve seen a few and he just naturally fills the gaps, is conversational and takes away any awkwardness. And then there’s Lee who just smiles sweetly and giggles occasionally and in doing so makes everything supremely better. I know why Mark disliked the industry and interviewers in general: it was all so artificial and he saw right through it all. I respect him for it, he just couldn’t easily do “forced” or spin. I wish we had more real musicians like him in the industry today.
