This is my very first Frogger game here. I never beat the whole game of it, but such a classic. I’ve played it on the pc. Best Frogger game back in the early 2000’s of mine.
Same. Was my favorite and I cam close to 100% it, but the final sewer and canyon levels were so damn hard, I just had trouble beating them. Every other level I could play all the way through, no problem after awhile, but those 2 levels broke me. I was also missing some of the Golden frogs, though I nearly had all of them.
The soundtrack for Frogger ‘97 was composed by Bob ‘N Barn (Andrew Barnabas and Paul Arnold) and Peter Murphy, whilst the soundtrack for Frogger 2: Swampy’s Revenge was composed by Andrew Morris.
Another childhood memory I used to have until some idiot burglar snuck into my home and stole it. But after almost three decades. I found my old childhood gem at any video game rental store. And finally got one back.
SCEE Cambridge (Frogger ‘97’s developer) later became Guerrilla Cambridge, but later closed its doors. BTW, awesome score by Peter Murphy and Bob ‘N Barn (Paul Arnold and Andy Barnabas)!
I only played the original and it was already challenging. This one looks more so because of the camera angles and the 3D might throw some people off. But I'm glad they decided to upgrade the game. I might try it one of these days.
I remember the Saturday Supercade cartoon of Frogger, and calling it "loosely based" is an understatement. Frogger and his girlfriend Betty worked for the newspaper Swamp Gazette and always seemed to find themselves caught up in a mystery ala Scooby Doo. The only major connection to the game was that Frogger managed to get himself flattened each episode and had to be "reinflated" by Shell Shock, mostly with a bicycle pump.
With all the tricks they were doing, I was expecting them to show off the lawn mower trick in this long play. I used to have fun super jumping over the lawn mowers when I had time to spare. I think it was even possible to super jump over the dogs, but the timing was more strict and I wasn't skilled enough to do it consistently with the dogs.
An absolutely atrocious game, in terms of it's difficulty, I mean, but I think everything else, such as the simple but colorful graphics, the music, (Retro Level 1, Looney Balloons, and Bang Bang Barrel are my favorite level themes, for those wondering) and the varied locations were definitely a nice change of pace and scenery, especially at the time, considering that, in the arcade game, all you had was just the highway level, whereas in this game, you have so much more beyond that. Yes, the difficulty as I mentioned above is the game's biggest flaw, considering you're not given that much time, literally in this case, and that can be really stressful. I am happy to see this game has a surprisingly dedicated and interesting fanbase, if Highway Frogs and FrogLord, the tool created for modding this game, are any indication. This game also has a very large and equally as active speedrun community, if I remember correctly, and that's also really cool.
Taking the rights to Frogger away from this dev team was one of the worst mistakes Konami ever made. Zapper was a more worthy successor to Frogger '97 and Swampy's Revenge than The Great Quest was by a long shot.
@@MizunoKetsuban They were. Though I miss the colorful baby frogs. 'Course, at this point, I miss the franchise in general. I grew up on Swampy's Revenge, so seeing it be virtually nonexistent nowadays is quite disappointing.
