MINI Cooper S R53 Nordschleife

- My big dream coming true - do a couple of laps around Nordschleife with my MINI Cooper S R53 2005. Before visiting F1 Belgium GP, I just had to visit the Nürburgring. This is video from my last (6th) lap. Taking along a passanger, friendly Canadian guy Dug, who is on a travel around the world on his motorbike.
He was not allowed on Nordschleife without special motorbike trousers, so he asked me to drive him. We did 4 laps together, one of those he bought for me :)

not the fastest lap, but he had the most fun doing it!

I think attacking the Nürburgring is for any 2000s Gran Turismo video gamer as me the top of the things to do list in life, I'm glad you already did it. Also have a Mini Cooper S '05, and would like to do this as well.

Great! Nice lines! You might be oversteering (turning the wheel more than is productive) in some corners in the first half. Love it!

I've watched this a few times now. I have an 05 S myself same color. Wish I could drive it on a track some day. Awesome stuff!!!

Hi. Yes, it's stock - it's there when you have GPS navigation in the middle. To be honest I would rather have that cool big-ass speedometer in the middle :) But yeah, it's more practical this way and it actually looks better when you have 2 speedometers there (the speedometer and RPMs).

I've been for 6 consecutive years at the Nürburgring, next year i'll bring my Mini in the green hell for the first time, can't wait!!!
I'd love to take my 2006 R53 JCW around the ring! the last time I was there I was driving a Peugeot Partner WAV!
I just need an updated intercooler and I'll be good to go!

Sure. It's filmed with GoPro HERO3 White Edition camera mounted on the right side of my helmet, 1080p 30 fps. For timing I use Trackmaster app for Android. Then you can generate a video data (CSV text file) and use RaceChrono2AVI on your PC to render that video layer with map and speed. I find it better to use this helmet mount rather than just put the camera on the windshield (the car speed seems more real this way).
Smoother steering needed, not do jerky, other than that a good drive.
Did your brakes over heat at all as they're standard? I have updated cams, 15 per cent pulley, ebc discs and yellow stuff pads so hoping that will be ok for one lap at least??

Já byl i letos, opět 6 kol, ale velkej provoz a mam trochu problém s autem, tak jsem čas nezrychlil a asi už Miníka na okruhu moc trápit nebudu :) Ale pojedu tam zas na Nurburgring Driving Academy - Formel Racing Grand-Prix výcvik s formulí :) Mam tu video ze základního výcviku, byl to mazec, chci víc :D
That sounds like a good setup. Did you have any problem with the track marshals and the camera? Also, you mentioned sending me a video? Would you mind because that would be really appreciated.
Also, can I ask what set up you were using for your video & timing? Seems a good setup.

Superb driving. What mods are there to the Mini. The exhaust, induction and pulley sound upgraded and rather nice!

Did you do anything to the car to prep it for the track? It sounds stock, do you have any mods?
Hello. Just normal preparation like oil change, tire pressures check (better to have a bit lower pressure on fronts as they get more heat), ... There should be 15 extra horse power thanks to some software mod, but I wasn't on dyno yet. Hardware is all stock.
I think it is still not officially possible to film there - I'm always putting the helmet on after I cross the gate, so they don't see it. Check your TH-cam inbox (or email), I already sent you the link to download that video with you ;)
Is your speedometer stock? Because I've never seen one placed over the steering wheel like yours.. I think it's more practical to drive, isn't it?

good driving, but constantly verry high rpm !!!
+danny wage That is what the first generation MINI Cooper S likes. All the power is between 4000-6000rpm. Drive it like a motorcycle or an S2000.
