They look awesome and sound great when you release the stock restriction on the exhaust and flow, and the overrun is pure music to the ears, leaves nothing to be desired, modern Style combined with contemporary design, some of the nicest cars I think, and that little baby car just about out- handled most cars on the track since they are some of the best handlings cars you can get, and one of the funnest cars you can ever drive, keep living in Denial, I’ve driven just about every major performance and sports car and my R56 stays very high on my list, take care.
Awesome driving. People in the U.S. have no clue on what a MINI is about. I still get asked if my car is electric or the common "I bet that gets great mileage". Rarely does anyone say anything about how quick or how well they hear it handles. On the road people always seem to assume it's slow and can't get out of it's own way.
The sheer joy of a MINI is great mileage AND ace specs. You can do your racing as well as driving economically, there's no tradeoff really for a car that doesn't look like it's made for racing, then again, that's just if you think of a MINI as a small car on a long road. People who know a thing about racing and car history know that the MINI is a racing car traditionally as well and then of course you have the advantage of BMW feeding cutting edge technology into these cars.
What a drive! I love how you were just chatting along with the passenger and still managed to pass two M3s, an M5, a C5 and a C6 corvette, a Z4M coupe, a motorbike and a bunch others like they were all on a cool down lap. Just watched your other video where you passed a Porsche GT3 And a Turbo as well. More videos please!
The BMW's obviously have more power but yeah the Mini handles way better in the curves. Plus, you're obviously much better driver and have some serious balls lol

Ignore the hating comments. Love my four wheel drive mini - alot of fun and very fast (245bhp at wheels). Nothing drives like a mini and once you've had one everything else seems very boring!
As always BMW in straight line is always going to win, twice the power, however it just shows how good the JCW is when driven properly, held its own there against the Lardy gas guzzling M5. Much more fun

My god, there's some crap written here from all these so called educated drivers. Take no notice mate, it was a fabulous drive, and I absolutly enjoyed it. Awsome car, sounds fantastic, and very skillfull driving.
I have owned a classic 911, S4, M5 then rovers. I loved all the sports cars listed except the S4. Audi's ore POS. Fast and fun to drive but are terribly unreliable. Is it good car, yes if you have someone else pay for the maintenance and get an S4 loaner while your is getting worked on, so no its not a good car. The 911 was by far the best to drive and the feeling you get with the sound and rear engine along with the whole Porsche driving experience (911's only) is the best BUT since I have to Rovers for work purposes, I didn't have a big budget for a sports car so I picked up a Mini S all 4 and with a few simple mods (JB+ N18) good quality intake and a cutback exhaust all under $800 the mini is almost as much fun to drive as the other sports cars I have owned at half the price. The power to weight ratio, the low clearance, the reliable and torquey N18 BMW engine plus the sport mode transmission and steering setting, you have a true sports car. The M5 of course will blow the mini away in a straight line but I am a cornering guy (see 911). In a course full of turns, the mini will hold its own against them all and depending on the driver, win. It is a seriously fun car and this video is not fake. It is actually this good. Picked up used with those mods that don't damage your car for under $20,000 used, the Mini S is amazing. People who say mini's are for girls, can't afford one, never have driven one, or never have been in one with a decent driver. Thanks fro this video. I miss my 911 but this reminds me what a steal of a car I have for the price and I'm not missing out on performance. Mini S's are not a poor mans sports car, they are a sports car with a low price tag.
that supercharger just makes the car... I drove a Cooper S both super and turbo-charged a year or so ago and hated the turbo, so laggy... the super-charged was punchy and revved to the redline... massive difference. next year might be looking for a GP or a megane RS 250 CUP, I'm not sure - have to drive both to see which is better.
Nice! REAL nice!... Impressive driving, running some good lines, so clearly run the Nordschleife before. Loved seeing the 'better' car get owned by your GP... Bloody loved it!
Well obviously a 560 hp car is going to be faster than a 267hp car, but the point is, considering the other car had more than twice the power, this mini and the driver was able to hold it's own and nobody passed him in the whole ride. He's obviously a skilled driver or is very familiar with this track. That was pretty damn impressive, but man that m5 just disappears in the straightaways.

MK1 is supercharged... you can clerly hear the whine.... around 215 HP... mk2 Mini is then turbo charged due to better fuel economy and lower emissions, launched a few months after the GP.
Great driving. I do think some people need to remember this is the GP model and not your standard JCWs haha, this is MEGA planted on the road though. Awesome.
Great driving from the Mini driver and I've landed at this vid as I'm looking to get an R53 Cooper S for daily /track toy so my E46 M3 becomes more of a weekend toy so don't think I think the Mini is anything other than great but if the M5 had a decent driver who knew the track we wouldn't of seen him again after he disappeared off at the start in this video
The original GP is supercharged as are the old Cooper S's before the mini got a facelift in 2008. From then on they changed to turbocharging. Also this is not me, but by the looks of how this guy was driving I wish it was.
Really nice driving mate. What upgrades (if any) have you got on your GP? Are you running the standard pulley or have you upgraded it at all? Wish my MCS pulled like that :P
I am working towards getting my GP in a similar spec. Hopefully I'll get the CAE Ultra Shifter and Bucket seat in by next year and make it to the 'ring! Anyway, good job, man!
That M5 is a V8 powered twin turbo that puts out 560 H.P. So the G.P. Shows that despite all of the power it's a good handling car in capable hands that make although less H.P. a good amount of usable H.P. and that makes the difference.
I see so many people here in ohio who buy them and they dont have a clue as to what they have, I can not afford one, but I am glad I dont because I would have law problems, it is beautiful car specially when you see someone who knows what to do with them, you cant just blow off its heritage. Yep. I'm up in New York and got a 2012 base model about 2 months ago. Wouldn't even be able to get this Mini if I didn't get such a great deal on it. I see 99lbs girls and old people driving around in an S or JCW and it's like "what a waste.." The base is still fun to drive everytime you start it up, but can't say I don't get a little envious.

the JCW GP is a track based hot hatch. Tuned and kitted out, it's a complete weapon.
