Micron Technology (MU) provided an update to its current quarter’s financial guidance, indicating that growth in the PC and smartphone market is making a comeback after over a year of a terrible downturn. Micron’s expected rise in sales could bode well for this large part of the chip industry.
However, Micron is still operating deep in the red, and the stock price rally this year is pricing in much of the 2024 expected recovery. Chip Stock Investor discusses one memory chip stock they like even better than Micron right now: Silicon Motion Technology (SIMO), a leader in flash memory controllers that recently had a falling out with its merger with MaxLinear (MXL).

Great video but what’s the point of putting a CPU on a RAM chip? Keeping them separate gives data centers versatility. Also CPUs are expensive to make and Intel had supply chain issues before Covid. Micron DRAM with the Nvidia GPU and an Intel controller is the best of each company put into one unit. Great video, maybe it will have applications for the PC but not useful for data centers.
Well this video didn't age well. You mention you think most of the rebound for 2024 was priced in already at the price of recording of 77 dollars? It went 100% above that last week for a brief period and I think we'll see at least another rally in 2024. Depending on the exact prices of their HBM3e which will be a huge factor for their EPS in 2024, I'm expecting $200-250 before end of year.
Yes, we may have been wrong about the stock price, we're fine with that. We are still benefiting from other investments in memory. But the recent run isn't from 2024 expectations anymore, it's now 2025 that is being priced in. All the best, enjoy the ride higher!

I just took a look at some metrics' trend and I liked them very much. this company pay dividends while they have a decent increasing in retained earnings. they kept the FCF margin stable. and their workng capital is geting better year by year. they buyback shares more than diluting shareholders. even some other numbers in the income statement and cash flow statement are very good. I just need to know more about the bussiness. I am totally new with it. thanks for your great video.

Way too much competition, guys. Buy stocks with more mote. There are so many options in the chip sector.
We are, doesn't seem to be much moat, but there never is with small caps especially. Such is life as a small company.
